With no sign of another heatwave this summer, even the celebs have been covering up their perma-tanned pins in something that can keep them snug in the cooler weather.
Cheryl Cole is no exception – she has been pictured in the Daily Mail looking great in a fitted leather jacket, a black vest top and a geometric skirt, which she teamed with black opaque tights.
She was on her way back to her hotel in the middle of the night after a long day of X Factor auditions, so although she looked bang on-trend, she also looked more than a little ready for bed!
We just wish we had a team of stylists to help us look that good after a tough day at work…
Luckily though, we can at least compete with La Cole in the hosiery stakes – there’s a whole range of opaque tights available at MyTights.com that are such great quality you’ll forget you’re wearing them.
Pretty Polly’s Soft Opaque Tights come in black and will feel just like air on those pins!
They may have seemed like just another sugary-sweet girl band at first, but The Saturdays are really coming into their own of late, with their own sound and their own unique styles.
This week, they really rocked out at the Roundhouse in Camden, covering racy rock tunes like Pink’s So What as part of the iTunes Festival.
Leaning on fluorescent mic stands, the girls went for a range of cool outfits, including mini dresses and nude fishnets.
Una Healy in particular looked great in a super-short playsuit with her fishnets, while Mollie King paired similar hosiery with a tulip dress.
They certainly caused a stir among fans, with one onlooker telling the Mirror: "Una rocked out with her air guitar, while crazed fans wrenched track lists off the stage as memorabilia."
Nude fishnets are a great alternative to black for a more subtle look – try Jonathan Aston’s Micronet Tights from MyTights.com, which are available in natural and chocolate, as well as black (pictured).
With the new biopic about Coco Chanel about to hit the cinemas, we’re getting quite excited about the prospect of all the monochrome fashions hitting the high streets.
According to our sources at Female First, some stores have already jumped on the trend for tweed, tailoring and Parisian chic, with M&S and Miss Selfridge both sticking some tres chic dresses and jackets.
However, you know that we’re firm believers in finishing an outfit off with the perfect accessory – hosiery!
Much of Coco’s fashions are about ladylike, demure styles – think Katie Holmes over Lady GaGa – including shift dresses, box-like jackets and smart skirts.
So how about bringing the trend into the 21st century with some knee high socks?
MyTights.com stocks some great ones from Pamela Mann, which have separate black and white panels that will really make you stand out from the crowd!
Alternatively, her Monochrome tights in black and white or black and white would also fit the bill.
She’s the girl who brought us boho a few years back, but Sienna Miller looks a little bit smarter these days with a few big-name films under her belt.
The actress, whose new movie GI Joe: The Rise of the Cobra is in cinemas this summer, was spotted at a press conference in Seoul this week looking lovely in a scoop-necked minidress and black leggings with boots.
She chatted happily with the media at the Shilla Hotel, with co-star Channing Tatum alongside her, Celebrity-Gossip.net reports.
However, we were more interested in her stunning dress – a zebra-print number covered in random yellow palm leaves – which paired perfectly with those matte black leggings.
For some similar hosiery that would go under short dresses without flashing the flesh, try MbyM’s Go Green Carolina leggings from MyTights.com, which are super-soft and are made from sustainable materials.
They are also a longer length, so would be perfect under boots come winter.
Although he has now moved on and has another girlfriend, Jensen Button’s ex Florence Brudenell-Bruce has been showing him exactly what he is missing this week.
The model, who split up with the Formula 1 driver last year after a two-year relationship, has become the body of a high street lingerie chain and has been pictured in some pieces that are sure to get men hot under the collar.
In one shot, the 24-year-old can be seen in a gorgeous floral bra and knickers paired with super-sexy over the knee socks in black.
Another shows her in simple black lingerie, again with over the knee socks to add a bit of sauciness.
We think long socks are a great accessory, not just for lingerie, but for going out-wear too!
They look fab with short shift dresses and Mary Jane shoes, or with the tulip skirts that are huge this season.
Check out MyTights.com for Pamela Mann’s over the knee socks, which are available in a range of colours and have an elasticated top cuff to keep them up.
Anyone who is fed up with their lumps and bumps that just won’t shift, no matter how long they spend in the gym, should definitely give Spanx a try.
Kiran Poonia, who owns a lingerie boutique in Edinburgh, told the Edinburgh News that many women snap up the brand’s Power Panties to keep them looking sleek for special occasions, as well as for everyday wear.
"They are great at giving women an instant confidence boost because the pants act as a slimming tool and help to reduce and smooth out unwanted bulges," she pointed out.
The fashionista also hinted that us girls may want to keep an eye out for a new range of haute couture Spanx that is currently in the pipeline – we already can’t wait to see it!
We agree that Spanx Power Panties are just brilliant – available on the website here at MyTights.com, they will give you a flat tummy and a toned bottom while remaining invisible under even the clingiest of outfits.
Another week, another round in the X Factor duel – and we’re not talking about the contestants.
No, we’ve been far more interested in the style battle between the two female judges – Cheryl Cole and Dannii Minogue – which continued this week as the programme headed to bootcamp in Hammersmith.
While Cheryl pipped Dannii to the post on Monday with a gorgeous purple minidress and sheer black tights, Dannii upped the ante yesterday and went for a look that was pure Hollywood.
She was snapped by the Daily Mail in a sheer black floaty blouse, grey satin shorts and whoppingly high heels, which she kept from looking too tarty by donning smart black opaque tights.
With the weather having taken a turn for the worse, they probably helped keep her legs warm too!
Meanwhile, Holly Willoughby also looked great in a loose-fitting checked shirt, grey leggings and gladiator sandals.
For opaque tights that look good and feel nice on your legs all day, try Aristoc’s Velveteen 50-denier variety from MyTights.com, which will keep you cosy but are available in a range of colours to suit any occasion.
With a host of celebs already flying the flag for the leotard, it’s no surprise that the high street is following suit and that you can get anything as long as it’s all-in-one this summer.
However, while Daisy Lowe and Pixie Lott may look fabulous in theirs, many girls get it wrong and end up looking more brassy ’80s barmaid than Lady GaGa.
Eleanor Glover from the Daily Mail’s fashion section reckons that the leotard can look really show-stopping on a night out – as long as you’ve got the pins for it and you pair yours with the correct hosiery!
“Just team [leotards] with a pair of black tights and high heels, not forgetting plenty of attitude, and you’re good to go,” she urges.
And in case you had thought about ignoring her advice, she has provided a helpful picture of how not to dress on the website courtesy of Jordan.
The model recently sported a sequined leotard that was cut eye-wateringly high with bare legs, leaving the world in no doubt as to the status of her bikini line.
If you don’t want to look like that, make sure you head to MyTights.com and get hold of some dark or black opaque tights such as those from Pretty Polly before you don your all-in-one.
If you’re one of the legions of women who got themselves ready for work this morning while simultaneously locating missing socks for your man and feeding the dog, then you won’t need us to tell you that time is a precious commodity these days.
Sometimes you wish you were Superwoman so that you could get everything done AND have some ‘me time’, right?
Well, one female executive reckons that getting savvy with your hosiery is one good step towards becoming more efficient.
Mrs Moneypenny at the Financial Times points out that keeping spare pairs of different tights at work could allow you to seamlessly flit from one event to the next – for example, work to evening drinks with clients – without having any wrong-tights-for-the-situation disasters.
And, she says, don’t feel obliged to forego tasks because you’ve got appointments – instead make the most of time at places like the hairdressers by taking your laptop along and doing the food shopping, or better still, shopping for the aforementioned spare tights!
Mrs Moneypenny states that she finds MyTights.com is the best place to do this, since her hosiery is always with her in no time.
We’re glad we’ve managed to make her life easier – why not let us make yours easier too? All orders placed with us before 15:30 BST are despatched the same day by first class post and we can deliver all the latest styles of tights and leggings to your place of work too!
As someone who spends so much time in the public eye, Ashley Tisdale – aka Sharpay in High School Musical – naturally wants to keep on top of the latest trends.
And this obviously extends to hosiery, as she was pictured out in California this weekend wearing some white opaque tights that ticked all the right boxes.
While we’re slightly embarrassed about knowing who she is – of course we don’t spend our weekends watching Disney movies – a great outfit and some good tights definitely deserve some credit.
The actress sported a loose-fitting peach t-shirt over cool white tights, Doc Marten-style boots and some just-visible stripy socks, so perhaps she read our post on Thursday which suggested wearing ethereal pastel colours this summer?
However, the tough-girl boots dressed the look down and made sure she looked perfect for a trip to the shops.
If you want white opaque tights, we’ve got some great embellished ones from Bebaroque which have a plain leg and a tuxedo-style ribbon hand sewn up the back.
