LEGGINGS ARE GETTING THEIR OWN BACK!

With yet another Bank holiday impending (don’t you just love the month of May) and some fun activities on the cards, you’re going to want to dress to impress. With a wet and windy Saturday in the pipeline, you may not fancy donning those cute camisole tops and floral print dresses that you did in last weekend’s heat wave, so MyTights have come up with a solution…

Printed pants and patterned leggings dominated the catwalks in S/S, with the likes of Asish, Luella, Dries Van Noten, Etro and Issey Miyake featuring them in their collections. We were treated to stripes, florals, graphic shapes, and animal prints. Bright and bold, or subtle and sophisticated – almost anything went when it came to trouser prints. They’re no longer worn as a subtle item with all the attention focused on increasingly-detailed tops and jackets. In 2010 Leggings are getting their own back!

At MyTights we are loving this alternative to tights, especially the Jonathan Aston’s Graffiti Print Leggings – new in and bang on trend they are perfect for making an impact! Celebrities have been going print crazy too! Lily Allen isn’t exactly known for being the shy and retiring type when it comes to her wardrobe, so when she was spotted in a pair of neon leopard print leggings, we weren’t surprised! The Hills and The City star Whitney Port has been covering up in printed leggings rather than the patterned shorts she was sporting at Coachella festival. Katy Perry has even jumped on the bandwagon, twice! She was caught sporting a candy pink boyfriend blazer with leopard print leggings on two separate occasions! To be fair to her though, the leggings were different colours. To rival Lily and Katy, MyTights have got Religion Animal Print Leggings in Iron Grey or Vanilla to choose from!

If you’re not sure how to wear Printed leggings read my style tips…

· Don’t be afraid to mix patterns. Clashing prints can give a sense of careless charm. Just don’t overdo it or you’ll risk looking clown-like.

· Wear with a baggy top that’s part tucked in, part untucked for a nonchalant look.

· For a young, urban look stick to 80′s inspired graphic prints.

· If sophistication is more your goal, look for subdued prints and wear them with a utility shirt.

Have a brilliant bank holiday, from everyone at MyTights!

WIN A SIGNED T-SHIRT BY DESIGNER OF THE MOMENT – HENRY HOLLAND!

hh-tshirtHenry Holland is a busy boy, but that’s because everyone wants a piece of him. (Even us lot at MyTights!) If he’s not attending the launch of the Teen Vogue Handbook with good pal Pixie Geldolf then he’s celebrating the birthday of one of London’s most valued fashion landmarks, Browns.

In 2006 The House of Holland Collection was born and so was the designer’s credibility among the fashion elite. The collections saw quirky designs that quickly became popular with twenty-somethings and trendy girl-about-town celebs, such as Alexa Chung, Agness Deyn and Pixie Geldolf. All of these fashion conscious celebs, plus trend adopter Fearne Cotton and Chanel model Lilly Allen, have donned his Super Suspenders or Contrast House Tights. (All available here at MyTights)!

At MyTights though, we’ve recognised this ongoing thirst for the trendy designer and his products, which is why we have decided to go one step further! We are offering you the chance to win a T-Shirt from the HOH collection! Not only this, it will be signed by the man himself! Every purchase of Henry Holland’s Contrast House Tights that feature the designer’s iconic logo will automatically enter you into a prize draw to win the T-Shirt; you must hurry though, as the competition only runs until 10th June.

As if this wasn’t enough you can also get the Contrast House Tights for half price if you purchase a pair of Super Suspenders before the end of May! This is certainly an opportunity not to be missed!

With a season that sees lots of BBQ’S and garden parties, Henry Holland’s Contrast Tights in nude and black will ensure you remain fashion focused despite the amount of burger buns you decide to scoff. And how many times have you wished that you stuffed a cardigan or a pair of tights in your bag when that summer chill hits you in the late evening? To avoid the unsightly hoodie that your friend will no doubt lend you, opt for Super Suspender Tights instead.

Good Luck with the Competition!

SEX AND THE CITY – GET THE LOOK!

Sex and the City is due for release in the U.K tomorrow, so we thought it appropriate to dress accordingly and bring out the ‘sex and the city’ in ourselves. So whether you’re a thinker like journalist Carrie, as feisty as Samantha, a workaholic like Miranda or as sweet as Charlotte you can look fantastic. But have the girls still got it? Will Carrie Bradshaw and her fashion obsessed friends inspire our wardrobes once again? Although every outfit in the film looks carefully crafted, they’re easy enough for you to emulate with a little help from MyTights!

If you favour Carrie over the other girls as your style muse you’ll only need a few statement pieces. Invest in some faded denim ankle grazers and team with a plaid shirt and ankle socks for that on-trend peasant-y look we admired from Chanel this season. Or pay tribute to rock when she opts for a delicious tutu, a corset that sums up underwear as outerwear perfectly, a checked shacket (shirt and jacket), lace footless tights and her signature curls untamed, see the look here. We even see oversized tailoring somewhere other than the catwalk when Carrie wears a tux-and-bow-tie suit at a gay wedding. If you’re not quite so brave you can tap into this trend with a pencil skirt, boyfriend blazer and fashion tights.

If Charlotte’s wardrobe is more to your taste, you’ll be pleased to know that she makes a bold statement in the desert with burnt red leg wear, really similar to Trasparenze’s Pecten Leggings here at Mytights. She certainly leaves the other girls in the shade! As for sexy Samantha, if you’re outlandish like her you’ll be keen to sport her bright red body con with Rhianna-esque shoulder pads and spikes! Yikes! If you’re not as confident with your body like Samantha is though, team with sheer tights or Spanx to charm your way through the night. Miranda is always a bundle of colour, which always shines emphasis on her brilliant red hair. Mytight’s favourite outfit of hers is a jungle-like vertical striped dress accompanied by a chunky chain. We think her dress would look great with some Jonathan Aston’s Tiger Net Tights though!

So whatever Sex and The City role you decide to take on, make sure you do it with MyTights!

MYTIGHTS REJOICE AS THE SEX AND THE CITY GIRLS ARE OUT TO PLAY!

It’s the moment we’ve all been waiting for ever since the credits of the first one began to roll. We were overjoyed to hear it confirmed and spent months anticipating its arrival. But the wait is finally over, because it’s here! Sex and The City 2 has been released in the U.S and its only days away until it comes to the U.K! Judging by the world premiere of the movie in New York yesterday we are certainly in for a treat, as it was frocks galore when fashion’s fab four took to the red carpet.

Sarah Jessica Parker was taking summer very seriously in a floaty asymmetric Valentino Couture gown in Zingy lemon. She looked positively stunning even when she had a Marilyn Monroe moment that saw her dress take on a life of its own. The other girls weren’t to be upstaged though; Kristin Davis looked beautiful in her vintage candy-pink Jean Desses dress with ruched detailing, whilst Kim Catrall enjoyed a golden moment in a dazzling gown by Naeem Khan that featured a striking sun flower print. Cynthia Nixon got it spot on too with a strapless gown in classic black by Carolina Herrera that fitted her like a glove. Other stars that were clearly competing for the style crown on the red carpet were: City star Whitney Port, Jennifer Love Hewitt, Ugly Betty’s Becki Newton and RnB songstress Ashanti!

It’s the style of the four girls in the film that has got everyone talking though, some which even see the girls in a throwback to the 80’s, so prepare to cringe at big perms, bowl head haircuts and spandex! But it wouldn’t be a Sex and The City film without City Chic and Manhattan Princess Carrie does it so well, so when she struts down 5th Avenue in a crisp white dress with a nipped in waist accompanied by oversized sun glasses and towering courts, we feel at home watching her. If that doesn’t move you then Charlotte’s adorable attempt to get a phone signal in the middle of the desert will when the four best friends go to Dubai. Despite the heat and an uncomfortable Camel ride, the girls are a vision in a gorgeous array of tribal tones. If this film doesn’t see the birth of turbans, then I think I may have underestimated its influence on fashionistas!

Come back tomorrow to find out how you can steal the Sex & the City stars style!

FASHION FIRST!

marinadiamonds_bebaroqueYAY, At last we’ve seen some sun! Well actually that’s an understatement, because at the weekend we saw soaring temperatures that reached a whopping 28 degrees, making Britain hotter than both Cairo and Ibiza! At sweaty temperatures like this, keeping cool was probably your main aim, but not for some of the stars that performed at Radio 1’s Big Weekend…

Despite the burning sun and mayhem that always accompanies a music festival, all the stars that performed looked well put together and cool. One of MyTights’ favourite outfits (and one of Fearne Cotton’s too judging by her excited tone) belonged to the quirky singer Marina and the Diamonds (pictured). Ignoring the heat and almost in an attempt to live up to her name she decided to opt for some tights embellished with diamond-like jewels and pearls, as she did on here recent tour where she sported a pair of Bebaroque Luna tights supplied by MyTights.com! “Have you not considered you’re going to get really warm today?” Interviewer Matt Edmondson asked her backstage. Fearne buts in; “Fashion first right?” Marina agrees “Totally first!” As if outlandish tights were not enough, Marina was wearing some pineapple shaped sunglasses from a joke shop that were fantastically fun and did well to compliment her whole image.

Another stand out outfit was one worn by Rhianna. The 22-year-old strutted around the stage in fishnets, boots and a reggae-inspired leather playsuit with go faster stripes in red, green and yellow and a hood.

But it was gypsy dresses, maxi skirts, ditsy prints and knee highs that were the uniform for everyone attending the festival and celebrities set the pace with their on-trend ensembles backstage. At MyTights HQ’s we’ve favoured Sting’s daughter Coco Sumner’s look. She was donning coral hot pants and black ankle socks that spilled effortlessly out of her tan boots. Rochelle and Frankie of The Saturdays also looked great with mid-bearing tees that showed off tanned, toned abs that us girls at MyTights are all feeling very jealous of!

So lesson learned! Whatever the weather (even in temperatures fit to melt away your make up) you can remain fashion focused and cool at the same time!

New Spanx products…

Ever seen pictures of your favourite actress at a premiere or awards ceremony and wondered how she always looks so perfectly svelte? We don’t wonder: we know! Spanx shapewear and control tights are the secret weapons of every red-carpet goddess worth her couture gown, and with three new styles just in here at MyTights, you too can get that streamlined look for all your big events this summer.

Higher Power Briefs

The original Spanx Higher Power shorts are designed to smooth out lumps and bumps from just under the bust all the way through to mid-thigh but they don’t really work with short skirts. Now the clever people at Spanx have come up with the perfect high-waisted solution for higher hemlines with the Higher Power Brief. Extending from the bra line to the top of the thigh theHigher Power Brief will give you sylph-like curves with shorts or miniskirts. Even better, this innovative shaper has a breathable cotton-mix panty – so you won’t suffer in the heat at all those summer barbeques, garden parties and weddings!

Slim Cognito Shape Suit

When you need to drop a dress size overnight for a big event,Spanx Slim Cognito Shape Suit is your saviour: in one fell swoop you can take inches off your waist, hips and thighs and reveal a smoother, sleeker figure with no dieting or exercise required! The bodysuit is seamless and made of a silky-smooth yarn so it will be completely invisible under your outfit and won’t cling to your clothes, and you can even remove the underwires for added comfort. If it’s instant results you need, the Slim Cognito Shape Suit is definitely your new best friend.

Slimplicity Shaper

Spanx’s newest range combines the powerful slimming effect we know and love with a new, chic look. The Slimplicity Shaper is a mid-thigh shorts style in a glossy finish with laser-cut edges – think of it as a sexier version of your trusty Power Panties! The silky, seriously lightweight fabric conceals a high compression tummy panel (it’s stronger than the ‘Hide & Sleek’ and ‘Power’ ranges) and smoothes your thighs, bottom and hips too – as Spanx themselves say, the Slimplicity Shaper is slimpy perfect!

And whilst we’re all really excited about these new products, don’t forget that we’ve got an extensive range of Spanx products including the one that started the whole Spanx revolution back in 2000, footless tights. You’re sure the find the perfect partner to give you that slimmed-down look for every ensemble! Plus we keep your euyes peeled for two more new products soon to arrive!

Happy Shopping!

READY, STEADY, LACE GO!

henry-holland-lace-footlessIf you’re looking forward to the weekend already, you’ll probably be trying to decide what to wear too! Whether it consists of a night out on the town with some girlfriends, going on a hot date or staying in with the boyfriend (and a take away) we all want to look our best.

The dead sexy trend that made a strong contribution to ‘Gothic Glam’ in A/W 09 has transcended and was almost unrecognisable when it appeared in ingenuous form of ice cream shades at S/S ’10 catwalks. Black was still key for this trend though, because let’s face it; if it’s not broke then don’t fix it! In case you haven’t guessed yet, I’m referring to lace tights!

Lace- lover Louise Goldin showcased a collection that became a hard act to follow with her baby-doll silhouettes and leather bloomer shorts, dreamy whisper-fine layers of tulle and Intricate black lace edging on fondant pink dresses. There were lace tights in summer’s hottest pastel tones of lavender, baby blue, pale pink, lemon and mint green that heavily featured in Goldin’s collection, sometimes with socks in similar hues over the top to add texture.

Our good friend Henry Holland was also a supporting lace in the form of oversized lace jumper dresses, cropped lace jumpers and an all over lace body stocking that took the outer-wear as under-wear trend to the extreme. He didn’t stop there though with lace footless tights in bright pink and purple (people wished they had taken their sunglasses) and lace panel tights in alluring black.

So If you want to either look hot while out on the town this weekend, bag that second date or are looking for a summery twist on the hottest trend around I’d suggest you take a look at what MyTights has to offer. We have Henry Holland’s selection of lace tights, THE ones seen on the catwalk and a whole lot more that will rival that of Goldin’s, such as Pamela Mann’s Water Lilly Lace Tights in pale yellow.

FASHION IS A PLAYGROUND…

Fashion is a weird and wonderful thing – almost anything goes. And if you’re one of the most established designers in the world anything you present to the fashion hungry is going to be greedily gobbled up and digested rather quickly. It is ironic that the fashion house renowned for Haute Couture and garments that celebrate quality has showcased a collection strongly influenced by peasant attire! Karl Lagerfeld for Chanel put on a spectacular show for his ready to wear S/S collection. Models frolicked in hay stacks and strutted down muddy paths wearing peasant-y poppy prints, crochet, ruffles, aprons, clogs and sheer patterned tights and stockings.

Lagerfeld’s show gave birth to a new trend of playful dressing and now the rest of us can’t wait to run wild! At MyTights we have summed up the season’s tendencies of beige, ivory, rough textures and transparency with our extensive range of sheer tights that are similar to those seen on the Chanel catwalk. Sheer tights are perfect for acting as a foundation for any outfit, especially neutral tones. Feel free to go OTT with your outfit; this may be the only opportunity ever presented to us to go play with prints and make them clash!

Never mind the hay at Lagerfeld’s show, at MyTights we are on a roll (excuse the pun). Our new products are perfect for indulging in this trend and come in the form of Celsete Stein Knee High Socks. Designs include florals, tattoos, lace and dots. To look ultimately Chanel, marry these socks with clogs and invest in a frothy blouse and tweed mini. Otherwise just turn up your jeans or Capri pants and let them play peek-a-boo at your ankles.

Mulberry S/S 10 gave us more Playful dressing with delicious colours mixed with contrast prints. At MyTights we’ve made sure you can co-operate all the key colours for summer into your wardrobe. Just try Jonathan Aston’s 40D opaque coloured tights and wear with a drop-waisted gathered skirt in a ditsy print to get that on trend peasant-y look!

IF THE SUN CAN’T DO IT… WE’LL DO IT WITH TIGHTS!

fearnecotton_goldtightsIt was as almost as if the designers had predicted our slow start to summer, because all over the catwalks there were attention-grabbing, glistening golds bright enough to replace the sun on an over-cast day in May. Both bold and beautiful, this trend is a sure fine way to get men sweaty under the collar without the hot weather!

At MyTights HQ’s we have a sneaky suspicion that this revival of Eighties lamé and head-turning metallic hues will be very popular among the fashion elite. One of our favorite collections from S/S was Louise Goldin who brought to us innovative sheer tulle inserts in a gold cyber-bodysuit along with metallic lurex leggings. Similar designs are available here at Mytights! To turn Goldin’s runway into a reality choose Pamela Mann Highball Footless tights and if you really have your finger on the fashion pulse, you’ll layer up with ankle socks over the top!

But if you’re after more of a glare-free option that won’t blind co –workers opt for Emilio Cavallin’s Metallic Pie De Poule with Black Tights. The combination of metallic and grubby gold hues achieve a sought after antique look and more of a day time friendly vibe. And they wouldn’t look out of place in Balmain’s collection where the garments looked as though they had been buried for several years and unearthed moments before the spring show!

Guess what, we’ve spotted our favourite radio DJ indulging in this trend, the slave to fashion: Fearne Cotton. She was arriving at LFW ahead of the PPQ show wearing a Vivienne Westwood dress, Gold tights, a pair of Gina shoes and a Mulberry bag. We especially love her look, because she took her outfit to new dizzy heights of fashion with the layering of cute ankle socks over her tights. Someone has been studying the catwalk! When asked about her look Fearne said: “I love socks and I just think that socks for me next year will be quite big. Socks always, I love Socks” (Metro.co.uk).

LESS IS MOST DEFINATLEY MORE…

lily-allen_valentina-hold-uFrom the age of 11 we all knew that our underwear ought never to be visible – a flash of white below the skirt-line was both an embarrassment, and potentially the occasion for a reprimand from a school prefect. But since its appearance on the S/S ’10 catwalk it has taken the fashion world by storm.

Underwear as outerwear is one of spring’s biggest trends, but fear not, because we’re not asking you to bare all, think of it more as a seductive layering affair. MyTights has plenty to offer to ensure that you can reference this trend without looking as though you’re paying homage to Madonna in her notorious cone-bra corset!

Jean Paul Gaultier certainly didn’t ignore this trend, seeing as he practically invented it! His S/S catwalk collection featured sexy hold ups with bold lines that circled the thigh. You can get a pair to successfully rival his at MyTights with the identical Falke Pure Matt 50 Hold ups, available in Marine, Black, Brenda and Anthracite (a slate gray).

If you’re thinking sexy isn’t your thing, why not try sweet? Marc Jacobs chose to layer baby blue silk bras over dusty pink blouses. Note: soft hues and pastels hint at cute and pretty rather than all out sex, which is a desired route to take with this trend. Lily Allen (pictured) did just that when she was performing on stage. She donned a blue pair of hold ups with nude platforms that complimented her cute sailor outfit perfectly. To look just as irresistible as Lily, check out Trasparenze Valentina Hold Ups, they are identical to hers!

Another celebrity that has tapped into this trend is Frankie from the Saturdays, recently voted one of the Sexiest Women in the world (4th to be exact), we can see why as she was papped in the Henry Holland for Pretty Polly Super Suspenders! they are practically identical to hers!

Fashion savvy Taylor Momsen takes this trend to another level, as she frequently sports stockings and suspenders with an ultra short skirt (such as on her recent GMTV interview). Want to look as raunchy as her? Try Gerbe’s Tentation Suspender Belt.

Have fun and remember less is most definitely more!
