With yet another Bank holiday impending (don’t you just love the month of May) and some fun activities on the cards, you’re going to want to dress to impress. With a wet and windy Saturday in the pipeline, you may not fancy donning those cute camisole tops and floral print dresses that you did in last weekend’s heat wave, so MyTights have come up with a solution…
Printed pants and patterned leggings dominated the catwalks in S/S, with the likes of Asish, Luella, Dries Van Noten, Etro and Issey Miyake featuring them in their collections. We were treated to stripes, florals, graphic shapes, and animal prints. Bright and bold, or subtle and sophisticated – almost anything went when it came to trouser prints. They’re no longer worn as a subtle item with all the attention focused on increasingly-detailed tops and jackets. In 2010 Leggings are getting their own back!
At MyTights we are loving this alternative to tights, especially the Jonathan Aston’s Graffiti Print Leggings – new in and bang on trend they are perfect for making an impact! Celebrities have been going print crazy too! Lily Allen isn’t exactly known for being the shy and retiring type when it comes to her wardrobe, so when she was spotted in a pair of neon leopard print leggings, we weren’t surprised! The Hills and The City star Whitney Port has been covering up in printed leggings rather than the patterned shorts she was sporting at Coachella festival. Katy Perry has even jumped on the bandwagon, twice! She was caught sporting a candy pink boyfriend blazer with leopard print leggings on two separate occasions! To be fair to her though, the leggings were different colours. To rival Lily and Katy, MyTights have got Religion Animal Print Leggings in Iron Grey or Vanilla to choose from!
If you’re not sure how to wear Printed leggings read my style tips…
· Don’t be afraid to mix patterns. Clashing prints can give a sense of careless charm. Just don’t overdo it or you’ll risk looking clown-like.
· Wear with a baggy top that’s part tucked in, part untucked for a nonchalant look.
· For a young, urban look stick to 80′s inspired graphic prints.
· If sophistication is more your goal, look for subdued prints and wear them with a utility shirt.
Have a brilliant bank holiday, from everyone at MyTights!
