The Chain Suspenders Hit V-Festival

The fashion at this years V-festival certainly didn’t disappoint, some of our favourite fashionista’s included Doctor Who star Karen Gillan, who looked stunning in a pair of diamond printed tights and monochrome outfit. Gossip Girl star and The Pretty Reckless front-woman Taylor Momsen rocked her signature look of sexy stockings and suspenders, teaming them with a studded corset (perhaps taking the underwear as outerwear look a bit too far?!). Alexandra Burke showed us how to work lace shorts, by wearing them peeking out from under a jumper dress. But the star of the show? Henry Holland’s Chain Suspender Tights of course!

19 year old starlet Pixie Lott stunned the crowds in a black and gold mini dress, rock-chic boots and the stunning black and gold Chain Suspender Tights from Henry Holland’s latest collection. She looked so gorgeous in her black and gold outfit, she was even on the front page of the Metro newspaper this morning! It looks like mock stockings really are here to stay, and this season’s golden twist on the Super Suspenders makes these tights even more striking, whilst still very wearable – perfect to dress up with heels and a mini for parties, and dress down with a t-shirt and ankle boots for a grunge/rock look.

Take a LOOK At Us Now!

Look Magazine 17/08/2010

We do get about a bit…. in a good way of course…. and this week we are proud to announce a guest appearance in the fabulous LOOK magazine. Appearing on the luscious ‘power thighs’ of Ms X-Factor herself Alexandra Burke, are a pair of the very lovely Falke Seidenglatt Stockings. Straight from the naughty apple that is the My Tights stockroom, these Falke stockings are a little piece of luxury with their beautiful mother-of-pearl finish.

Whether it’s classic silk, cosy wool, or sexy vintage-look seamed hold ups, stockings are a timeless look that will never die. Simple to dress-up, or dress-down, wear in the work place, or on a casual afternoon with the girls, stockings are a part of the foundations of every girl’s wardrobe. They are the embodiment of style, and double-up at the festive season as a nice little place for Father Christmas to leave his goodies… well, we can but dream!

Burke, winner the X Factor 2008, is due to celebrate her 22nd birthday next week, and we think she’s never looked more radiant. Having recently become the face for Sure deodorant, the gorgeous star bares her soul in this emotional interview for Look magazine. We hope she’s feeling a bit more cheerful in time for the return of The X-Factor this weekend…

It’s Holland Time

It’s here, it’s sheer, and it’s very far from austere….. The return of the House of Holland for Pretty Polly hosiery collection.

The bunting is up, the silly string is ready and there are party hats galore as that time has finally arrived… The House of Holland Autumn/Winter hosiery collection has arrived!!!

First shown at London Fashion Week earlier this year, on the catwalk and at the launch party we were delighted to attend, House of Holland’s A/W clothing range has already become a celebrity favorite. Said to have been created with ‘the New York girl going downtown’ in mind, the collection has a distinct 90’s feel – the stench of Nenah Cherry, The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air and Kurt Cobain oozes from the fabric. A theme which has definately rubbed-off onto their distinctive new hosiery line.

Eagerly awaited since the success of the last two collections for Pretty Polly, Henry Holland’s new hosiery range has not disappointed. Gorgeous bandana-style vintage paisley has inspired many of his designs such as the much desired Bandana Tight. Chic, and guaranteed to be spied on the legs of many of the fashion elite (they have already been spotted on Agyness Deyn and Sophie Ellis-Bextor), the Bandana Tight is set to be a key item in the coming season.

60871960This season is also predicted to see the rise of the knee-high sock, and the talented Mr Holland has unleashed some absolute stunners on the fashion world. Both the ‘Ball and Chain’ and the ‘Triple Chain’, were seen on the much idolised Ms Pixie Geldoff at Glastonbury this year. With their chunky-chain design in metallic, gold coloured thread, and with Henry’s trademark typographical elements, these are definitely hot socks.

Other stars of the collection include the fantastic Bandaknee Tights. We think they epitomise the ‘street culture’ look of the collection with their monochrome colours and lace knee patches – how many more trends could you want from one pair of tights!?

And last but not least…….. how could we sign off without mentioning this seasons twist on the iconic, coveted and all round adored ‘MOCK STOCKINGS’!……..

Yes, last season’s Super Suspender tights where a phenomenal hit with fans such as Agyness Deyn, Little Boots, Frankie Sandford and Princess Eugenie(!). This season they’re even sexier, our choice would be the Chain Suspender tights with super-glam metallic detailing to add some cheeky fun to any night out.

So girls, for a pocket friendly way to get some designer action into your life, look no further than this amazing autumn/winter collection. Every day should be a Henry Holland day!

It’s a Lace Thing

ELLE Magazine Front Cover – September 2010

ellecover_jaWe knew that lace was back in style BIG TIME, from Edwardiana to the Gypsy Goth look, it’s been sneaking in everywhere. And we also knew that lace tights have been spotted on all the hottest trend-setters, from rock chic’s Peaches Geldoff, Taylor Momsen and Katy Perry, to the polished Olivia Palermo, Leighton Meester and Taylor Swift, and the uber-foxy Megan Fox, but then we saw this…

…Emily Blunt, when did you get so raunchy? The Devil Wears Prada star is just oozing sex appeal in this sensuous chiffon and lace combo. Looking like some sort of naughty Victorian courtesan, Blunt pulls this look off with effortless charm. Elle’s use of more mature contrasting colours, such as nude and black, has ensured that this outfit says both sexy and on-trend, rather than becoming trashy.

So, tossing the beautiful Ms Blunt aside for one second, the real star of the show is of course – drum roll please – Jonathan Aston’s Sweet Roses lace tights, as pictured this September cover of Elle Magazine. With their cut rose-inspired patterning they are elegant, individual, and above all oh-so feminine. Take a look at the whole of Jonathan Aston’s Vintage collection for lace hold ups and ankle socks too!

What’s so good about lace? I hear you cry. Well as much as your relationship with lace thus-far may have only gone as far as admiring your Grandma’s doilies’, or with the fussy bits on your bra – lace is actually a style classic. It’s a timeless way to add some delicate, and pretty charm to an outfit. But let’s not go mental, if you dress yourself in head-to-toe lace you will look like a cake.

Our tip for pulling this look off? JUST ADD A TOUCH, a pair of lovely lace tights with a little black dress is great, show a scandalous amount of leg while retaining your full dignity – perfect!

Everyone’s Talking About… Tan Tights!

beyonce_sheerBeyoncé does it. Cheryl Cole does it. We’ve been doing it for years. What are we talking about? Wearing tan tights of course!

That’s right; the secret is out. Some of the world’s most admired women, including former supermodels Carla Bruni Sarkozy and Claudia Schiffer, rely on ultra-sheer tights to give their pins that flawless, dewy finish. Grazia magazine was first to spot the secret (and I’m proud to say they even asked my advice on the top tights! read the article here), closely followed by the Daily Express who reported that 81% of British women prefer to wear tan tights in the Summer due to the instant sun-kissed, polished effect they give. As Grazia recently declared, tan tights are “the way to go this season”, and with that roll-call of fashion authorities backing them, who are we to argue?

Sheer nude hosiery has come a long way since the Eighties when wearing tan tights wasn’t exactly subtle. Now, with developments in hosiery technology making durable ultra-fine yarns possible, tights like Sarah Jessica Parker’s favourite Shelina by Falke are so sheer that wearers are often presumed to have stunning bare legs. Shelina tights are also available in a toeless or hipster version so that you can wear them with anything without giving the game away.

Another celebrity favourite is Wolford’s Luxe 9 style, which at only £11 for perfectly toned- and tanned-looking limbs is much less expensive and an awful lot less hassle than a wax and a spray tan. Something Falke’s Shelina and Wolford’s Luxe 9 have in common is that they’re both made without using elastane in the legs, which makes them cooler to wear than most sheer tights, so there’s no longer a worry that you’ll be frazzled in the warm weather (if it ever comes back, that is). Even without elastane, both of these bare-leg-look styles offer superb fit and superior comfort in wearing. Once you’ve given them a try, you really will wonder what you ever did without them!

Apparently little-known by the celebs but a big hit with us here in the MyTights office are La Perla’s Leger tights. These 4-denier-appearance tights have got it all going on: they’re surprisingly strong, unbelievably soft and they give your legs an other-worldly glow that has to be seen to be believed. We bet that if glamour queens SJP and Cheryl knew about these, there’d be a serious increase in cases of leg-envy the world over …

The most affordable option comes from none other than Pretty Polly, and their Naturals range is a brilliantly purse-friendly collection of nude-look styles. Our picks are the Almost Naked 5D tights and the Naturals Open Toe 8D tights, both of which will perfect your pins and add a hint of colour.

If you haven’t yet tried tan tights, now is definitely the time: after all, if it’s how pop stars, supermodels and Hollywood actresses maintain their immaculate-looking legs, we definitely want in!

Let us know what you think?

HenryHolland AW10 – Already a Celeb Favourite!

agyness_hh_bandanaPsst … Wanna know what the fash pack will be wearing this up and coming season? Of course you do! Some of you eagle-eyed hosiery addicts may already have spotted the new season designs on the models at the House of Holland autumn/winter 2010 show earlier this year, and on numerous of Henry’s friends at this years Glastonbury, so you’ll be thrilled to know they’re going to be part of Henry’s affordable collaboration with Pretty Polly. We were also lucky enough to mingle with Henry and his best friend Agyness Deyn at the London Fashion Week preview of the collection!

There’s lots to love in the new season lineup, and fans of Henry’s signature mock suspenders are in for a real treat as there are two hot new styles for autumn. First up, the Chain Suspender Tights, featuring a plain opaque leg to mid-thigh where it becomes sheer with chain-print suspenders! For the seriously attention-grabbing option, you’ll want the Bandana Suspender Tights – as seen on Daisy Lowe at Glastonbury! Sheer all over with a zig-zag suspender, the legs are printed with an exclusive Bandana design which will definitely make a statement for autumn.

If suspender tights aren’t really your thing, though, you’re in luck as the Bandana range comes in several different styles. As well as the mock suspenders, you can get the print on the all-over Bandana Tights, Bandana Over-The-Knee (tights with a mock OTK look) – as seen on Kelly Osbourne at Glastonbury – and our favourites, Bandaknee Tights, which have a sheer leg and a diamond-shaped bandana print on the knee. The Bandana range has already found itself a couple of A-list fans in Agyness Deyn (pictured) and popstar/model/style icon Sophie Ellis Bextor, who have both been spotted in the Bandana Tights.

Also getting in early on the autumn Henry Holland for Pretty Polly collection was Pixie Geldof, who we spotted at Glastonbury wearing two different pairs of the new season socks – the triple chain socks and the ball and chain socks. We also love the Elastocks: a plain black leg is finished at the top with an elastic band emblazoned with the House of Holland logo, so no-one will be in any doubt who designed your legwear! There are three different styles to choose from: a knee-high, an over-the-knee and a suspender version. We bet Pixie’s got all three, and we know you’ll want them all too!

Given the popularity of Henry’s previous designs for Pretty Polly, we predict a sell-out! Some of the designs are available to order now and make sure you check back soon to snap up the rest!
