Vanessa Hudgens rocked a whole range of hippy-chic outfits at Coachella, but one of her best pfizer viagra canada was the cool monochrome scarf print dress she wore, which she accessorised with a rust coloured felt sunhat, patterned hold ups and loads of statement tribal-inspired jewellery.   Who knee that hold ups worked so well with casual looks too?!  It was a dream pairing – the rest of her laid back look stopped the hold ups from looking too dressy, while the hold ups were a sexy alternative to knee high socks, which are a festival staple.

Rihanna was also out and about flashing her thighs in the last couple of weeks in what at first appeared to be classic black over the knee socks.  But on closer inspection the high shine socks had a vivid scarlet back seam that exactly matched the tips of her pointy court shoes.  Statement seamed hosiery is hot right now, and and, as Rihanna knows, red and black is a classic combination that will never look dated.

Nicki Minaj continued the red and black theme on her recent trip to London and was also at it, reinventing the classic polka dot.  She left her hotel wearing some super cute giant spot tights with a shiny red bomber jacket and rather scary looking studded harness dress.  Team yours with a beige shift for the office or a scarlet prom style dress for parties!

Who wore it best: Madonna vs. Ashley Greene

Gym-honed and wrinkle free she may be, but Madonna has received criticism for flouncing around on stage in teeny tiny hotpants and fishnet tights. The singer, 53, has embarked on her MDNA tour wearing outfits that are reminiscent of her heyday in the 80s – though some have (somewhat unkindly) pointed out that as she was (at most) only 32 then, perhaps she should be considering a more age appropriate outfit.

Across town, youth had it say in the shape of Ashley Greene who was snapped on the set of her new show, Americana, in New York. Teaming a pretty patterned yellow dress with buy viagra while overseas a hoody, slouchy boots and black fishnet tights, she showed how to rock fishnets in laid back daytime style.

Fishnets are having a moment right now and, as Ashley and Madonna prove, there

are no rules when it comes to how you wear them. Try coloured fishnets for a fresh, summery vibe – they look great with white cotton dresses when the sun is shining. Or try nude fishnets, which have a legion of celebrity fans including Rihanna and the Saturdays, who wore fishnet tights supplied by on their amazing tour.

Classic black fishnet stockings will never go out of style – if you’re worried that wearing them with hotpants and armwarmers (à la Madonna) might not look quite so good when you’re shopping in the supermarket as they do when you performing on stage in front of thousands of people, try wearing them with longer line knee length skirts and boots so you just get a glimpse of net as you walk.

What do you think of Madonna’s look? Should she be leaving it to the younger generation like Ashley, or is she simply showing off her hard worked for figure?

It’s All Quite Basic Really….

We all have our staples don’t we? That little black dress, the white shirt and the well fitting jeans, the great boots and the killer heels. Well, if you’ve sorted your wardrobe out, now would be a good time to get started on your hosiery drawer.  Everyone needs a selection of good basics as these can form the foundations of your wardrobe and take something great into the realms of fantastic.

Sheer Tights

The most basic of basics should be your sheer tights. Don’t choose any old brand, find one that has a range of colours that match your skin tone to give you that barely there look. Aristoc Ultimate 10D (ladder resistant) are the cost effective but effective option in a range of colours to suit most skin tones. Falke Shelina which are a personal favourite of mine have the most fabulous bare leg finish and have a great spectrum of skin tone shades.

Opaque Tights

In this climate where would we be without our opaques. For high quality opaque tights look at Falke Pure Matt 100 and Wolford Velvet De Luxe 66. The coldest weather needs the warmest wool tights and Trasparenze Gennifer Merino Wool Tights and Falke Soft Merino Ribbed Tights both combine warmth, texture and luxury feel to give maximum coverage. Don’t just stick to plain black though, some of the deep blues and purples, greens and metallic that were launched last Autumn will serve you well through this year too.

Coloured Tights

Coloured tights are a good way of taking something ordinary and making it extraordinary. Just look at the likes of Alexa Chung and Ferne Cotton who are masters at making opaques work for them. Jonathan Aston 40D and Pamela Mann 50D offer two of the biggest colour ranges around spanning 54 different shades from electric brights to strong pastels and soft primary colours all with a long lasting, non fade texture.

Elegant Fashion

I know it’s the age of austerity and we should all be pulling our belt in, but what if your dress doesn’t have one? The fastest way to make the clothes that we have work a bit harder is an amazing pair of elegant patterned or fishnet tights. There have been some really fun and elegant designs launched over the last six months and amongst our favourites are Pretty Polly Secret Slimmer Lace Tights which combine fashion with function. Levante’s Micronet Tights along with Pamela Mann’s Sheer Dotty and Jive Seamed Tights will also bring some delicate design to your lovely legs, all for under £10 per pair. All of these will add a grown up note to your outfit and bring back a bit of glamour to dressing for an evening out.

Control Top

Don’t forget your foundations though and if you need a little bit of support here and there, control top tights like Aristoc Bodytoners and Spanx In Power Line will help to keep everything in place. Both tights are so very wearable and so comfortable (I sometimes forget I have shapewear on) and come in a range of subtle skin tones and black.

Footless & Open Toe Tights

Finally, for when the weather does finally warm up again, don’t forget to add some footless and open toe tights to your drawer of basics. Footless tights are enjoying a huge renaissance and will start the withdrawal process from tights to bare legs. The new textures on brands like Transparenze Dorella are easy to wear under the lightest or warmest of fabrics. And my last tip for this week – if you haven’t tried open toe tights, then do. I like to keep that smooth blemish free look to my legs all year round and so I don’t reveal all in the summer. Instead I pair my favourite sandals with a  great brand of open toe tights such buy generic viagra online as Falke Shelina Toeless or Transparenze Tropea. They are practically invisible under sandals when correctly positioned and will give you extra support and comfort even on the warmest days.

So, clear some space and get online. Make this the month that you give yourself a staple wardrobe of hosiery that will see you through every season.

Until next week…..

Katy Perry just can’t get enough of statement tights recently. The singer showed off two very different sides as she dressed up for a radio interview before transforming into a glam rocker to party at a festival.

She was spotted on leaving the Radio 1 studios last month sporting a rather more demure look than we’re used to. The pop princess, who showed off her post-Russell purple hair at Coachella last week, gave her old blue style one last outing in a classy ensemble of a silky cream dress with a trench style beige coat and spotty tights. She finished the look with the Charlotte Olympia Kitty flats that have been seen on everyone from Beyoncé to Alexa Chung recently.

The Ultimate Shapewear Guide

It can be daunting how many shapewear options are available – so to help out we have pulled together a summary of the options available…

Shaping underwear products come in 5 basic shapes each with its own particular advantages:

1)      The full bodysuit – perfect for when you want to look lump and bump free from top to tail.

2)      Shorts or briefs to bra line – sitting just below the bra line, this shape is best for when you are wearing an outfit that accentuates and hugs your waist as it will give you a smooth line.

3)      Shorts or briefs to waist – perfect if your clothing is looser on top and at the waist or only hugs across the bottom and hips.  Also a good solution under trousers.

4)      Slips – great for smoothing out your body under dresses and especially good to hold you in under very light or sheer skirts and dresses.

5)      Hosiery – Shapewear with tights built in.  When you need to wear tights these are the best solution

Spanx are currently leading the field in clothes with secret shaping properties.  These revolutionary shapewear products that you wear outside your clothes currently come in two styles:

1)      Leggings – Great for the gym or wearing with t-shirts and dresses for a footless look which will secretly make your bottom and legs look more toned.

2)      T-shirts and tops – Spanx have recently developed a new range shaping tops which you can wear as outerwear.   Great to wear on their own or under other tops for smooth lines.

Brighten up with colour

Well, what an Easter it’s been. Here we all were a fortnight ago unpacking our summer clothes from the depths of the wardrobe yet as soon as a Bank Holiday is in sight, it’s coats on and umbrellas out. With the kind of weather we’ve had there has to be something to brighten up our days and we think coloured tights will give you the kick you need to remind you that Summer isn’t too far away – allegedly.
A whole host of celebs seem to have cottoned on to the same idea, if you’ll excuse the pun. Lovely ladies that have embraced coloured tights include Liv Tyler and Sarah Jessica Parker whose royal blue and turquoise legs made news Stateside on a night out whilst closer to home Claudia Shiffer has been seen running around Notting Hill in deep purple, Kylie Minogue has been out and about in Belgravia in bright pink, as has Bridemaids star Kristen Wig while Fearne Cotton, one of our biggest UK style icons has switched from pillarbox red to bright white and even gold.

Wearing a bright or strong colour is all about finding the one that suits you and your personality. Jonathan Aston 40D Opaque Tights offers one o

f the biggest bright colour ranges around from cool blue to electric orange. They have a reinforced toe seam and a boy short top for ultimate comfort. Falke Seidenglatt 70 Denier Tights is the brand of choice if you want strong but subtle colour. Their range includes marine, a deep navy blue and paraffin, a rich teal. Pamela Mann Lurex Tights channels the current love affair with silver/white and their range also includes gold, both in a 30 denier finish. Pretty Polly 60 Denier Opaque Tights has the most brilliant of bright pinks while Mary Portas Almost Opaque 40 Denier Tights has a more subtle toned but no less strong pink. Mary’s lovely range also includes shades such as sultry sage, a lovely spring green and top teal, a deep powder blue. If you do want to blow away those rain clouds in style though, Emilio Cavallini is the brand to target. They have some of the brightest colours around this Spring. Emilio Cavallini All Over White Pinwheels Tights have shocking colours with a subtle design, as do Emilio Cavallini White Abstract Flowers Tights and Emilio Cavallini Semi Sheer Seamed Tights whose bright orange will mimic the sun when there’s no sun to be seen.

So, jazz up your wardrobe and your day. Make a statement and spread a little colour into this dull old world. Until next week…..
