Get a Fabulous Bare Leg Look this Summer…

Okay, it was here and now it’s gone. It charmed us, and now we’re wondering if we’ll ever see it again. I’m talking of course about the sun and how as Brits we are used to the disappointment of starting the day in blaring heat and ending it, soaking wet. It’s what we do.

There is no reason why the weather should dampen down your style though and this week we want to talk about grooming. Not the eyebrows, smart haircut, manicure type of grooming, but the ‘healthy looking, well turned out’ look. Deep down it’s what we all want, to look as though our shell is a perfect foil for the clothes, make-up and accessories that we layer over it.

Legs, which in my view should be on display all year round, can look a bit mottled when first exposed to the sun. If your skin has been under wraps all winter, it’s amazing how it can react when exposed to a little sun. Rather than the healthy glow most of us expect to get, it serves only to bring out blemishes and reminds us of the little imperfections that we’ve striven to keep hidden.

Sheers! That’s my solution. Now before you all run for the hills with blindfolds emblazoned with ‘American Tan’ on them, I urge you to take a fresh look. Sheers aren’t what they used to be and these days companies have really pushed technology, texture and colour to try to make sheers as close a match to your own true skin colour as possible.  A friend of mine who is a master with the bare leg look tights is often complimented on her perfect legs. Even up close it’s impossible to tell that she’s wearing tights because she gets the colouring absolutely right.

Falke is a German brand that deliver consistently high quality hosiery, and their Falke Shelina Tights are perfect for getting that super natural, bare leg look.  They are made from bi-component yarns which give a really superior bare leg look because they are generally much finer to look at that the denier suggests, and are generally cooler to wear so they are perfect for the hot summer months.  They are 12 denier but look much less, meaning you get a wonderfully ultra sheer look – but with a little added strength, too.  All of the products will leave you with “better diflucan latin america than bare”, flawlessly natural pins!  And what a selection of

products they have.  The classic option is the Falke Shelina Tights, but the range also includes hold ups, stockings, toeless styles and socks.  And with an enormous variety of beautiful shades, you can be sure that you’ll get a gorgeous pair of tights that will match your skintone.

The Pretty Polly Naturals range is great if you want a gorgeous bare leg look product for everyday wear that's a little less expensive.  The 8D Sandal Toe Tights are a classic everyday product.  The ‘only just there’ eight denier matte finish is one of the most realistic around and the colour range which extends from pale English rose to olive skin covers plenty of skin tones.  Plus, at just £5 a pair, it’s a really inexpensive way to get a gorgeous bare leg look.

Belgian brand Cette know how to dress to impress. Their tights are knitted from bi-component Sideria yarn for an extra thin, almost transparent finish and infused with cooling Aloe which will last for the life of the tights.  Or Transparenze Capri Tights are another style that mean you can get smooth blemish free legs, even when wearing sandals or open toe shoes. The very fine eight denier finish offers a range for light to dark skintones that are completely sheer from toe to waist.

How low can you go? In denier, we mean!  Wolford has the last word on this and their Wolford Individual 5 Tights have four barely there colours and a smooth matte finish that just evens out skin tone and creates a better overall look.  Wolford is the ultimate in luxury and are perfect if you’re looking for high end, luxury sheers.

The newest addition to the bare leg look collection is the wonderful new range of Oroblu sheers.  An Italian company, Oroblu are masters at the well groomed look and both the Suntime products (again made from bi-component yarns for the best bare leg look money can buy) and the luxurious wear anywhere Geo 8 classic sheers collection will give you flawlessly natural looking legs.

In my view there is no point fishing for compliments if you don’t work with your best assets. Creating great legs is the easiest way of giving the impression of a well groomed you. Forget expensive fake tan, tights are more cost effective. Treat them with respect and you can wash them and wear them again and again. Don’t say I never give great financial advice!

Until next week

The new sexy…

Recently we’ve noticed something strange… our favourite celebs are shunning the try hard, ultra glam looks of previous seasons and rocking our favourite trends with chic, understated charm. This is the new sexy – so learn from the stars and balance your favourite statement trends with some casual styling.

Made in Chelsea’s Caggie Dunlop was spotted generic name for flagyl ages ago ahead of the pack, dressing down her suspender tights with denim cut offs and a baggy t-shirt. This was swiftly followed by Vanessa Hudgens, who teamed her patterned hold ups with a scarf print dress, floppy hat and wellies at Coachella a few weeks back, channelling hippy chic and working laid back sexy to perfection. Even better, this look is so easy to pull together at home – just team a pair of stockings or hold ups with your denim shorts and favourite slouchy jumper.

Those two aren’t the only ones at it, either. Caggie’s Made in Chelsea castmates (past and present) seem t

o have picked up on the trend. First Chloe Green, daughter of Sir Philip Green, stepped out looking super hot in a black dress with black leather jacket and animal print tights. A dash of animal print is perfect for adding a sexy finishing touch to a plainer look – just make sure you keep it to one statement piece or it can look OTT.

Then just a few days ago Made in Chelsea’s Amber Atherton rocked up to the World Premiere of The Dictator showing of miles of legs, covered in spotty tights. Showing she knows her fashion rules, she balanced out having her legs on show by wearing a high necked t-shirt under a conservative cropped jacket, and stuck to monochrome.

This new look might take some restraint if you’re tempted to bare more than normal because of the weather, but we can guarantee it’ll be worth it when you’ve got the most sophisticated look in town!

A Calendar of Tights for Summer

We all like to think we’re unique and have carved out our own style that separates us from the masses, but there are few products on the market that are available through limited channels. You know we’re keen to support your individuality and that’s why we are the only UK stockist of Celeste Stein. The creators of this funky American brand obviously enjoy what they do (if you know what I mean) and we are constantly amazed at some of the designs they come up with. Not entirely for the faint hearted (I have been known to stop traffic when wearing my Celeste Stein Pink Lady Tights) the designs range from downright cute to totally incredible. If ever there was a call for colour blocking on the upper part of your body, it’s so that you can go wild with your legs. We have a great calendar of events this year, so here’s our run down of how to make the most of these great designs all through the summer.

The Queen's Jubilee

Unless you’ve recently returned from another planet, you will know it’s the Jubilee next weekend. Celeste Stein Red Spot Tights which will make a great 1950’s alternative to all the flags and pomp that’s around, as will the lovely Celeste Stein Royal Stripe Tights. Bring on the net underskirts!

London 2012 Olympics

Patriotism continues with the Olympics but at least we can break away from being completely red, white and blue. Celeste Stein Harlequin Footless Tights embrace the colours of the Olympic rings but if you really want to show your support for the world’s sporting heroes, then our money is on Celeste Stein’s Flags Footless Tights. Stretch your legs and get someone to count the number of flags you display.

Festival Season

There is no lull after the Olympics as festival season kicks off with a bang. This is where you can really take crazy design to town (or the country rather). The hypnotic flowers on buy generic cialis online

target=”_blank”>Celeste Stein Reddish Daisy Tights are more than reminiscent of the festivals of the 1960’s, as are Celeste Stein Gold Paisley Socks which will look great with ankle boots and bare legs. Glastonbury might be off this year but there is bound to be rain and with rain comes mud. Counter the effects with Celeste Stein New Giraffe Footless Tights which will look as good dirty as clean. The Hay Festival requires a more country garden look and Celeste Stein Heaven Flowers Footless Tights will see you through the day and you can change them for Celeste Stein Black Floral Tights in the evening.

Royal Ascot

Away from the books and the music it wouldn’t be summer without the horses, although recent changes to protocol mean a more sedate look for your lower half. The pretty, subtle pattern on Celeste Stein Blue Lace Tights will be a winner. Buy a second pair of tights and Online propecia uk create a contrasting band around your hat to extend that unique style upwards.

Summer Holidays

By now you should be ready for a holiday. Pair flimsy cotton dresses with a pair of Celeste Stein Missoni Footless tights or Celeste Stein Green Pucci Footless Tights. They will not only protect your modesty after too many cocktails but you can also channel the St Tropez of a bygone era. Use them the following day as a belt to draw in that lovely kaftan that you picked up at the market.

All too soon we’re back at work and starting to think of the approach of Autumn. The weather might get cooler but there’s no reason to not keep Summer front of mind. See out the season with Celeste Stein Blue Palm Tights and keep dreaming of sandy beaches and azure seas.

A whole Summer of fun and one way to create endless new looks with your existing wardrobe.

Until next week….

How to style Union Jack tights

We’re nearly there. Shops, pubs and even the odd house has started to whip out the red white and blue and patriotism seems to be the top of everyone’s agenda.

Here at My Tights we’re looking at innovative ways for you to fly the flag using your finest assets. We’ve recently received a bundle of six different flag design tights that will make a statement on their own. From Henry Holland’s soon to be iconic Henry Holland Rule Brittania Union Jack Tights through lasix without rx to the more subtle Jonathan Aston Union Jack Crowns Tights, legs seem like a good place to start. Although with designs as great as these, why just wear your tights in a conventional way?

In recent days we’ve seen international bloggers, celebrity model Elle MacPherson and even the grande dame of fashion, Vivienne Westwood herself, show us how to do an alternative take on how to fly our flag with pride.

A Subtle Flash of Flag

Australian based blog ‘What Would Karl Do’ showed us how she had cut down her Union Jack tights to create fun socks. A smaller design like Jonathan Aston Union Jack Horses Tights or Union Jack Crown Tights will enable you to create this effect. Alternatively pair some Celeste Stein Red Reverse Spots Footless Tights with a blue shirt dress and white shoes for an on-trend take on a classic 1953 look.

Elle MacPherson elected for a rock chic look with her ripped jeans that showed flashes of red white and blue in all the right places. (We respect Elle’s patriotism for her adopted country, although she could so easily repeat the look with Henry Holland Aussie Tights). For a daytime look, try this

cheap priligy

with the Jonathan Aston Union Jack Tights under ripped blue jeans or darken the mood of celebration at night with cheeky Jonathan Aston Union Jack Crowns Tights under ripped black jeans.

Make A Statement

Vivienne Westwood predictably offered her own alternative view by translating the Union Jack into a wealth of neon colours for her London catwalk shows this year. Instead, we’ve been inspired by her early Seditionaries collections and have tried pairing one leg of Henry Holland Aussie Tights with one leg of Henry Holland Rule Britannia Union Jack Tights or one leg of Henry Holland Stars and Stripes USA Tights. Cut out the foot to create footless tights for flats or leave them be and pair with platform heels. Alternatively, if you want to keep the focus up top, share two pairs with a friend, snip out the feet and gusset and wear on your arms to create a 21st Century take on classic armbands.

DIY Style

With a four day weekend of celebration you could also use individual legs to create a feature belt, post war headscarf or 1960’s Alice Band. Pamela Mann Capital Flag Tights will brighten up your outfit for daytime or you could turn seductress by night with sexy black armlets created from Jonathan Aston Union Jack Crowns Tights or Jonathan Aston Union Jack Horses Tights. If bravery takes hold, you could even channel a bit of Prada and make your own cheeky bandeau bra or look to labels like Herve Leger and use two legs layered one over the other for a bombshell style tube dress. Henry Holland Rule Britannia Union Jack Tights and their sister Henry Holland Aussie Tights and Henry Holland Stars and Stripes USA Tights with their 40 denier finish will give you the coverage you need!

The possibilities are endless, now all you need is the product. A word of warning, with the popularity of patriotism running at an all time high this year, these designs are flying off our warehouse shelves. Stock up on Jubilee tights now to avoid disappointment!

Until next week……

Made in Chesea v The Only Way is Essex

Fans of “Structured Reality” shows are all too aware of the growing rivalry between TOWIE and Made in Chelsea.  Both shows have exploded onto the scene, and whether you avidly watched Mark Wright conquer the jungle in last year’s I’m A Celeb or find yourself keeping tabs on the Millie Mackintosh/Professor Green romance, there’s no denying some of the girls from both shows have real style.  And some don’t.  We decided to fan the flames of rivalry by comparing some of their hosiery fashion choices…

Fashion tights can be daunting if you’re not sure how to wear them but both Made in Chelsea’s Chloe Green and Towie’s Jess Wright pulled off the look with ease.  For a girly style, go for embellished tights like Jess, but we LOVE Chloe’s animal print tights, LBD and leather jacket combo that she was spotted in walking around London recently.

Winner: Made in Chelsea

Caggie Dunlop sadly said goodby to MIC last series, but not before she showed us how to rock buy cheap generic levitra

_medium=blog” target=”_blank”>suspender tights for a casual daytime look.  Dressing her hosiery down with baggy washed out denim and a chunky knit scarf was inspired.  However, Towie’s Maris Fowler made jaws drop when she stepped out in a chic, understated combo of suspender tights, beige cocktail shorts and a simple black vest top.  Who knew?

Winner: Towie

Why do some girls find footless tights and leggings so difficult buy 25mg viagra to wear?  The rules are simple – ALWAYS team with a long top, tunic or dress unless you are 100% confident about your body from every angle, and wet look leggings must not be accompanied by leather.  These rules seem to have bypassed the world of reality TV, though – Lauren Goodger stepped out in a supremely unflattering leggings and vest top outfit, while MIC’s Gabriella teamed her wet look leggings with black leather, black boots and, for some reason known only by her, rainbow coloured hair (See the pic here).

Winner: Neither – both looks are equally bad.

Maternity Spanx: There is a hosiery god, by Nicole Rapaport

In the final trimester of pregnancy my body is now starting to resemble a rather large walrus and I simply can’t deny the fact that chic maternity clothes are a must.

The thing viagra pills buy is, I’ve found that a good maternity fit is hard to come by. If it cosies up to your belly, the legs are too baggy (not in a cool boyfriend jeans way either). If the leg fit is nice and tight I’m either left with a gaping pouch which a far bigger bump needs to fill, or a ‘digging in’ scenario so extreme I fear the oxygen supply to my foetus has been cut off.

I thought I could cheat the system by just buying bigger sizes or cheap mum-to-be brands – rookie mistake – especially with tights that just ended up shimmying down my legs half way through the day and traumatising my bump with their overactive seams and waist lines.

Enter Mama Spanx, the maternity pantyhose sent to me by an obviously female and pregnant god (aka MyTights). The bright packa

generic viagra online pharmacy

ging, wording and illustrations will put you in a good mood before you even put these on; ‘Super Spanx for a Super Mum’ even made me feel better about the daunting prospect of entering motherhood.

I tend to wear dresses to work, and although I was hoping by May there would be no need for tights, these feel supportive and give you a lovely feeling of streamlined sexiness (as you would feel in an ordinary pair of Spanx undergarments).

The thigh support stops wobbling and chaffing if you’ve expanded a bit down there and the tummy support feels comforting and safe, rather than claustrophobic or restricted; kind of like a luxury hammock for your floating sproglet. They feel silky and soft, yet are tough considering I’m whipping them up and down every 20 minutes for a toilet trip.

The sizing is particularly accurate and the cotton gusset means you can easily go without knickers if you feel so inclined. There is a back support section of which I didn’t feel any particular benefit, but the architecture of these maternity tights as a whole make for one happy mama with mighty firm hips, thighs, bum and tum.

Maternity Tights Reviews

Mama Spanx Maternity Tights

“Such a well know brand that continues to deliver in terms of packaging and wording. The bright colours, cute illustrations and funny tag lines give you a laugh also. They are not quite as soft as the Trasparenze pair, but feel strong and elasticated. The thigh support is great to stop wobbling, as you would expect with normal Spanx. The tummy section is tight and firm without being uncomfortable, and gives a seamless silhouette in tight clothes, which I often wear. Makes you feel compact and sturdy which in turn helps you to feel elegant and sexy (words that prednisone medicine I wouldn’t usually associate with pregnancy). I wouldn’t wear knickers with these either as if you feel secure enough, you don’t need them. These are my favourite. 8/10″

Nicole, 28 weeks pregnant

Trasparenze 20 Denier Maternity Tights

“The packaging is more formal, corporate and sophisticated [than the Spanx], but much less appealing to me. The tights themselves feel very soft, yet strong and elasticated. The fit is perfect for me on the leg, but the lower tummy section is very slightly big a

credit scores

t present. The bottom and stomach section is in a grey ribbed material with thick seams. This does not work under a tight fitting dress or top and it can be seen though. However it does feel soft and comfortable. They stay up well but already have a couple of tiny nicks in them (bear in mind how many times I go to the toilet a day there’s a lot of up and down!) I would suggest that both Trasparenze & Spanx do a line of thicker denier maternity tights, not just for Winter, but for the more fashion conscious customers, as the sheer/ low denier look is quite dated and corporate. 6/10″

Nicole, 28 weeks pregnant

Spanx Maternity Tights

“I could tell from the moment I put these on that they were of a much higher quality than my usual maternity tights.  Maybe it was the way the crotch didn't manage to work its way down between my thighs within half an hour of putting them on.  The denier was not opaque but not sheer – perfect for most outfits.  My biggest concern, though, was the brand itself.  My pre-maternity experience of Spanx was of a restrictive garment that pretty much squeezed my lumps into something vaguely flattish.  I was concerned that with the maternity version, my unborn child would be pinned to my spine.  Fear not.  They kept my backside and ever growing love handles in check but allowed plenty of room for the bump.”
