We are so bored of listening to people talk about chic, sophisticated, ladylike fashion. Whatever happened to experimenting with new ideas? These days it seems as though everyone is too scared of making a fashion faux pas to try anything a little different to their usual style, so why not try bringing back a little wardrobe revolution this new year?
Funky tights aren’t nearly as tricky as you first think to wear. Take Celeste Stein tights, for example. Yes, the patterns are completely out there and the colours aren’t exactly fading into the background, but if you pick out the key colours and coordinate (or even clash!) you can get a really great fashion forward look. Or if
you are really shy, just team them with a classic black dress and knee high boots for just a little flash of fun as you walk.
Loads of people also shy away from suspender tights, thinking the design is going to be a little too racy for them, but you don’t have to wear them like Rihanna. Make like our favourite hosiery crushes Little Mix and style yours with casual basics like denim shorts and Christmas jumpers or loose fitting t-shirts – they can even work for daytime!
Little Mix also love wearing Henry Holland tights, and they’re not the only ones. Barely a week goes by without some celeb being spotted in his designs, and his tights range for Pretty Polly showcases his design talent to perfection. Try his Reverse Star Tights with your favourite LBD, or else get colour pop perfect with the Houndstooth Tights which will look great with high waisted shorts and a
fitted denim shirt.
These are just a few of our ideas, but there are tons of stunning designs in our range of tights – so get creative and let us know how you style yours!
As the year end approaches, everyone is winding down and reflecting on the year just past – not least us. We’ve spent the week pondering our favourite (tights-related, naturally) moments of 2012…
1) Kristen Stewart Shows off her Spanx Shapewear
Accidentally flashed her control underwear while on the Jay Leno show giving an
interview, making mere mortals everywhere breathe a sigh of relief. Celebs are as self conscious as we are, it seems, as lots of other stars came out of the shapewear underwear closet in the year, including X Factor judge Tulisa and Katy Perry, who are both said to favour the shaping underwear over hard exercise and diet. Ladies after our own hearts – and you can get the look with our range of Spanx UK products!
2) Little Mix – Just Generally!
The winners of last year’s X Factor have taken over from Jessie J as the unofficial face of funky tights this year. We’ve lost count of how many times we’ve squealed in delight over some of the hot legwear styles they’ve rocked over the past 12 months. It all started with those personalised
Henry Holland tights (we are still green with envy) and now the girls are our favourite legwear advocates. Keep up the good work, girls!
3) Mary Portas launches her range of Control Tights
Retail guru Mary Portas had a hugely successful launch last year of her range of hosiery and armery in 2011, and in 2012 she followed it up with a collection of shaping control tights. Including 2 fashion designs, not only did she put an end to the choice between fashion and comfort – she loved them so much she wore them every night on Channel 4’s Hotel GB.
Fashion is hardly ever easy – from agonising over whether this colour goes with that shade to the mournful morning you realise you just got too old for colour clashing, just working out a suitable palette to play with is difficult enough without then having to trawl through a style, length or
cut to flatter your figure. Thankfully, monochrome is back with a bang, as demonstrated by Little Mix in the latest edition of Notion Magazine – making colour choices easy again.
The four girls were shot in their trademark edgy style, with three of them in stark monochrome looks with Leigh-Anne providing a pop of colour in bold orange. Stripes seemed to be the order of the day – possibly inspired by Henry Holland’s pre-season SS13 collection – as was tartan, spikes and leather. Even better, the girls finished some of their stunning looks with tights from MyTights.com! The Pamela Mann Fishnet Tights were a popular choice – it must be a celebrity thing, as the Saturdays also wore them on their tour earlier this year.
The easiest and chicest way to work the monochrome look is with a classic white shirt and black skirt – from peplum to peter pan collars, there are endless possibilities so you can make the trend work without compromising your own personal style. Add
a flash of colour (anything bright works but keep it to one accessory).
Or why not try one of the other looks on show in the girls’ shoot? Get too cool for school in a tartan mini and skirt or go all vampish vixen in leather and spikes. Of course, there’s only one way to finish off your look, whatever you go for – the Little Mix Way, with fashion tights from MyTights.com!

This week as been a contrary mix of weather. Snow, ice freezing fog and now rain to come. It’s so hard to know what to wear to keep warm. I’m not a jeans or trousers person and so I will always look for ways to increase the wearability of even my most flimsy dresses. My secret weapon is woollies but not the type you put on your arms, the kind you wear on your legs. Here at MyTights
we have the perfect winter warmers for your legs that will keep out the chill until Spring.
Wool tights are not like wool jumpers where you notice the difference in quality versus price. The great Lycra technology that’s out there now means that even the lower priced ranges have great texture and staying power. When looking at wool tights, look at the amount of wool in your tights – the higher the quantity, the warmer they will be.
Pretty Polly is a great brand to start with. These are not the most expensive or the most economical but Pretty Polly 150D Angora Blend Tights are a great buy. Made from lighter than light Angora wool, these close knitted tights will become a closet favourite and the classic shades of soft grey and black work with just about everything in your winter wardrobe.

Radio queen Sara Cox was hitting up the airwaves yesterday covering for Fearne Cotton on radio 1, and the MyTights
office couldn’t help overhearing that the poor love was freezing her tootsies off. Her and the team
were talking about how cold it was and were discussing the necessity of thermals. Now, we’re all for toasty warm feet, but thermals??? No way. So we decided enough was enough, and sent her some cosy treats!
Our favorites from the goody bag we sent over included the Jonathan Aston Freeze Tights in Navy, which are on our Christmas list for sure. Frosty, silver sparkles in cosy, rich navy hosiery – what’s not to love? We also send over some super luxe Falke tights (pricey but worth it, in our opinion) and the gorgeous Aristoc Cashmere Blend Tights in Chocolate, which are sumptuously soft an thick, with an 8% cashmere content.
We were of course wondering if she’d received her stash… And we weren’t kept in suspense for long. She was on the airwaves again this morning talking about the tights and sharing them out with the team at Radio 1, and later tweeted her thanks to the MyTights team.
Ok, so she wasn’t a huge fan of the camel coloured tights (pictured) which she thought would give her “undercooked sausage legs” (FYI, Sara, camel is very en vogue this season and those exact tights appeared in the actual Vogue- it’s all in the styling), but we’ve no doubt that she’ll have the best dressed, warmest legs in radio over the coming weeks!
