Spotted in the Metro: Henry Holland Tights!

Another day, another fashionista declaring their love for House of Holland hosiery.  This time it was fashion writer and stylist Alex Gardner, who was feature in Metro newspaper’s fashion segment “What I Wear”.  She styled a vintage yellow sweatshirt with an all-black combo of beret, tube skirt and booties, and of course the star of the show – the Henry Holland Reverse Polka Dot Mock Hold Up Tights.

We extolled the virtues of these Henry Holland tights way back in August when they first arrived, and we’re thrilled they’ve been given the bona fide fashionista stamp of approval.  As Alex shows, styling is easy when you know how.  These are statement tights so she’s kept the rest of the outfit simple, avoiding a fussy skirt and keeping it all black with just one pop of colour from her batwing jumper. The amount of pattern is perfectly balanced, too, with just the sides and sleeves of the jumper covered in the striking design – which

is mirrored by the polka dot pattern on her legs which stops just above the knee.  This is a fashion bunny who really knows her stuff!

Henry Holland is no stranger to quirky mock suspender designs – in fact it was the designer himself that pioneered the classic suspender design, and since then he has come up with countless reincarnations the style to satisfy

our hunger for fresh fashion ideas.  Now you can get your suspender tights with a multitude of twists, from a jagged zig zag top or gingham patterned leg to a pretty mock lace top or sexy backseam.

Not 100% sure about suspenders but hankering after statement tights?  Look no further – Henry Holland does loads of head turning non-suspender styles like the Reverse Star Tights, which feature sheers stars on a 60 denier opaque background.  Or check out our collection of patterned tights for a look to suit, whatever your style.

MyTights in the Daily Mail: It’s not just us that loves them!

We’ll have to admit, this week has been jam packed with hosiery praise from the press and we can’t wipe the smiles off our

faces! One particular display of affection for tights has got us blushing, as we receive top marks from Daily Mail journalist, Marianne Powers.

Putting her pins through their paces, 35 pairs of tights were washed and worn in an attempt to separate the fabulous from the not-so-fabulous in the leg wear stakes. Naturally, some of our best sellers & most loved made it onto the list, coming up trumps in both fashion and function. To say we’re proud is an understatement, as some of the high scores left us as giddy as mum at a parent’s evening!

No pattern or denier was left out – from sheer to opaque, fancy to control, all of our favourite hosiery heroes were present. And to show off these top rated tights, we’ve made it oh so simple for you to get your hands on them, so help us celebrate the winners and treat your legs in the process!

Wolford Individual Ten Tights – 9/10

Some may spend a life time searching for the perfect pair of sheers, but we have just the ones to call off all searches ladies! The Wolford tights have been picked up on their luxurious feel and “super comfortable fit” – and we couldn’t agree more.

Charnos Killer Figure Control Tights – 9/10

Yet another fab score, these opaque control tights will lift bums & tone tums thanks to a clever shaping brief. The Daily Mail loved how durable these were, and despite an accidental snag from a ring, they remained ladder free throughout the day. Hooray!

Charnos Two Tone Floral Opaque Tights – 9/10

Securing us a hat trick for the score out of ten, these gorgeous patterned tights were congratulated on their good quality and “sturdy” feel. What’s more, they lived up to the wash & wear test with a no-fuss washing machine experience. Made in three shades, there’s a colour to complement any ensemble they’re faced with.

Wolford Botanica Tights – 10/10

Full marks! Taking us to

prime position on the hosiery leader board, our Wolford net tights proved that looking good doesn’t mean you have to compromise on comfort. “Ridiculously comfortable”, the fine net tights were saluted for remaining subtle and sexy, with a generous fit to boot. Passing the wash & wear test with flying colours, these take centre stage in our trophy cabinet.

The Girls Are Back in Town!

That’s right, our favourite five piece since the Backstreet Boys are back to what they do best and have kicked off their reunion tour with a bang. Complete with sequins, glitter and some rather strange feathered wings, the girls have joined forces once more to give fans an anniversary show to remember. Starting off in Newcastle, it’s clear they’ve set the standards high for the rest of the eight week tour. But it wasn’t the harmonies or Cheryl’s (questionable) new back tattoo we were focused on…it was Nicola Robert’s arms!

Looking fabulous and fierce, the girls changed into metallic basque style dresses and nude fishnets for a part of their set, proving just why they’re an office favourite. It was only then that we noticed that the 27 year old fashionista (and close confidante of designer Henry Holland) was modelling none other than some armery! Possibly one of the most forward thinking uses of hosiery fabric yet, armery was created for those of us who want to keep our arms under wraps when out and about. Great for layering underneath dresses and tees for a faux long sleeve, they add warmth and coverage to any ensemble. What’s more, you can style them over strapless & sleeveless dresses if you’re mindful of feeling too exposed.

It seems Nicola has done just this, adding a chic black number to complement her stage ensemble. To

viagra vendita on line italia

get the redhead’s savvy style, try the Mary Portas & Charnos Plain Armery. With four fab shades to choose from, including Nicole’s black, there is an armery option  for every wardrobe. Whether you wish to match or clash, let the hosiery sleeves sculpt & define your arms for a stage worthy look.

And if you have a penchant for pattern, these clever sleeves also come in a fishnet version and a floral one too!

So take your cue from the pop princesses themselves and get the look now, back tattoos not compulsory…

Bring on Spring (and Summer)

If we needed a reminder of what September’s catwalks had said we would be wearing this spring, then look no further than the new season looks which are everywhere. As always, it’s our job to translate this into affordable fashion and show how you can work a trend without breaking the bank, utilising some of what you have in your wardrobe already. Here’s how to prepare for those first rays of sun…

Colour, colour, colour. It was everywhere from sherbet lemon to grass green, hot pink, electric blue – our love affair with all things colour continues. If you bought into this trend last year with a colourful dress then enhance the look with coloured tights of the same hue or a clashing colour. Pamela Mann 80 Denier Tights have an eye watering 17 colours. There are 19 colours in the Jonathan Aston 40D Opaque Tights range and a further 15 colours in the lighter Jonathan Aston Sheer Coloured Tights collection. Priced between £4-£6 you can afford to buy a selection of colours to create a whole selection of new looks from one single outfit. Check out the image son our website to show you how.

White is currently enjoying a revival thanks to a host of celebrities including Florence Welch and Adele driving the 1960’s look and Emilie Sande and Sophie Ellis Bextor championing the 1950’s. Transparenze Dora Wool Ribbed Tights have a pure white in a snug warm finish that will see you through spring’s colder days.  Perfect with those mini skirts and monochrome dresses. Pamela Mann Polka Dot Tights add an all over spot to an opaque white leg while giving off a definitive 50’s vibe. And, when it warms up, you can exchange your tights for footless versions like Jonathan Aston Ruffle Footless Tights which feature a little kick flare over the back of the ankle.

Seams Like a Good Idea

Fashions come and fashions go but a good seam has endured the last five decades, wowing would be admirers since WWII. I myself like a nice straightforward seamed leg but I have to admit that even I am falling in love with the new back seams, courtesy of a stable of designers working on behalf of the likes of Pamela Mann, Jonathan Aston and Pretty Polly, to name but a few. Here is my run down of the seams to be seen in this season.

We all like a bit of romance and seams certainly spell that. So too do Pamela Mann on their new Pamela Mann Love Seam Tights which spell the word ‘love’ in undulating script up the back of your ankle behind the words even out into  classic seam. The would be Europeans in us will also embrace the Pamela Mann Je T’aime Back Seam Tights with words that evolve into a back seam. Very fun when viewed from behind and a lovely sheer nude finish from the front, all are priced at £7.99. Pamela Mann has also played around with the love theme in their Pamela Mann Heart Seam Tights which have a link of tiny hearts forming the seam. Available in standard and plus size, both in classic sheer black, these tights will become a new wardrobe seam staple, priced at £7.95. An alternative to love, Pamela Mann has also played with ribbon in their Pamela Mann Bow Seamed Tights. A classic sheer black 15 denier pair of tights with cut scrolled bows at the ankle which loop off into a seam, these are a sweet but sassy new favourite, priced at £9.99.

Put a Spring in Your Step With Pretty Polly & Henry Holland SS13 Collections

There’s no denying that Pretty Polly is one of the most well-known names in the world of hosiery for a reason.  Keeping our pins perfected and protected since 1919, they have successfully navigated the fine line between keeping their older customers happy with a constant catalogue of amazing basics, while bringing their fashion tights collections to a new hosiery audience.  The proof is in the pudding, and with Beyoncé’s Superbowl backing dancers

cheap cialis

clad in Pretty Polly’s secret socks collection, no one could question that Pretty Polly have still got their finger firmly on the fashion pulse.

We shouldn’t be surprised, then, that their spring/summer range is nothing less than all out fabulous.  Butterfly prints are set to be HUGE in the coming months, and the Fly Flutterby Tattoo Tights feature a gorgeous tattoo-style butterfly design – so you can tick off two trend boxes in one.  Seams also feature but with a sexy, modern twist; like the Mesh Frontseam Tights which are made from a fine micromesh and feature a striking front seam.  We love the Pretty Puzzling Jigsaw Backseam Tights, which feature a backseam design made from puzzle pieces!  The quirky style shows Pretty Polly have been picking up some tips from their partnership with House of Holland designer Henry Holland.

V-Day Special: Sultry or Sweet?

Its official ladies, the countdown to the special day has begun, with just over a week until all things romantic invade offices, restaurants & bars. The

viagra cheap

day in question of course, is Valentine’s Day. Whether you choose to believe that a small cherub with a nifty bow & arrow kick started it or not, it’s still here and celebrated. And for us, it’s the perfect excuse to invest in some new hosiery…

There’s something for everyone, as you decide whether to go for super sweet…or sultry. As ever, we’re here to make your decision easier, so we’ve whittled down the best of both worlds for you. Enjoy!

Stockings

Sultry – Conjuring up images of 40’s pin ups and Hollywood starlets, nothing says sultry quite like a pair of stockings. Perfect for adding that retro touch to any V-Day ensemble, these Oroblu Secret 15 Stockings should be on every cupid-themed shopping list. It seems that OK! Magazine agrees with us on this too, as they’ve added a silky nightdress to the gorgeous stockings, with stunning results!

Sweet – Now whilst the allure of stockings is immediately obvious, we understand that it might be a bit full on for that understated date to the cinema. This

doesn’t rule them out completely though, as stockings are adored by ladies all round for the comfort and freedom that they offer. Remaining hidden away under hemlines, there’s nothing like the sexy confidence that a pair of secret stockings can create. To keep your look playful, step into a pair of the Pamela Mann Jive Seamed Stockings. With a cute seam detail, opt for the Natural colour way to keep things subtle yet glam.

Opaques

Sultry- If you’re after a compromise between sex appeal and the elements outside, we’ve found the answer in the Trasparenze Brazil Tights. Blue legs and non-stop shivering will never (thankfully) be en vogue, so pull on these 40 denier mock suspender tights to add an opulent, lacy touch to your outfit, whilst protecting your pins. We heart them!

Sweet – Cheeky by name and cheeky by nature, these Pretty Polly Cheeky Coloured Suspender & Knicker Tights are a must for any Valentine’s wardrobe. Butter wouldn’t melt as a colourful mock suspender design comes complete with bubblegum pink faux-knickers! Style with a flirty hemline to reveal the stripy tops and you’re guaranteed the leg limelight.

Sheers

Sultry- French is certainly the language of love, so what could more fitting than these amorous Pamela Mann Je T’aime Back Seam Tights? Using the lingo, they spell out the word of the day, with a flattering seam detail to lengthen legs. We plan to team ours with that LBD and killer heels…

Sweet – This may be more to the taste of the cynics out there, as we’ve found a pattern that still screams charming, without a single love heart in sight. Featured in this week’s LOOK Magazine,it seems spotty tights are a happy medium, adding that something special to an outfit with their dainty dots. For all the polka dot princesses out there craving dotty tights, why not try the Pamela Mann Sheer Dots Tights, or for a bigger impact, the luxurious Bonny Dots Tights from Wolford?

So there you have it ladies, the choice is all yours. It only comes round once a year so make the most of it we say! Sultry or sweet – you decide…
