Jessie J on the Jonathan Ross Show

Our favourite hosiery queen was on the Jonathan Ross show this week, flaunting those pins in another Henry Holland creation.  So which pair of legendary Jessie J Tights were on display this time?  The I’m Laddered, of course – which seem to be rapidly becoming her favourites.  She’s been spotted wearing them so many times we’ve lost count – with everything from sailor caps to sequin basques and even in the video for her latest single, Domino.

For the Jonathan Ross show she teamed them with black boots, denim cut offs, a midriff-baring black t-shirt and heavy duty golf chain.  Happily chatting to Jonathan about her success, she expressed her sympathy for fellow songstress Adele, who has been off the radar since undergoing vocal chord surgery last year.

We just about managed to drag our eyes away from David Beckham, who was also a guest on the show, to watch Jessie in an awesome performance of Domino at the end of the show, where she showed off her tights to their maximum advantage.

Get the look and snap up a pair of the Henry Holland I’m Laddered Tights for just £12 while stocks last, or browse the rest of our range of fashion tights for statement legs just like Jessie!

When Henry met Laura…

Our founder Laura met the lovely Henry Holland last week at the Pretty Polly AW12 Preview Party at the Pretty Polly Pop Up Store in Covent Garden.  Sporting the Henry Holland Alphabet Silver Tights, which she teamed with a bright colour pop dress, Laura thinks that the fashion is fab and she can’t wait to wear it!

With top designers like Henry Holland working for them as well as Jessie J as the face of the brand (not to mention the numerous other celebs that have been spotted in Pretty Polly designs), Pretty Polly are flying high at the moment and there’s no better (or less expensive!) way to get your hands on a slice of designer fashion for your wardrobe.

Copy Katherine Heigl and team the Pretty Polly Nylons Back Seam Tights with chic basics, or get Caggie from Made in Chelsea’s style with the Henry Holland Super Suspender Tights paired with slouchy casual pieces and bedhead hair.  Or go for a look just like Laura’s and team bright colours with statement tights – choose pieces with simple cuts and textures to make your legs the centre of attention!

Who Wore it Best: Dione Bromfield vs. Jade Thirlwall

Dione Bromfield (singer and goddaughter of Amy Winehouse) and Jade Thirlwall from Little Mix have both been spotted out and about recently in a twist on the classic suspender tights.  Both girls stepped out in tights which were opaque to just above the knee and then gave way to sheer hosiery, with a pretty line of opaque hearts around the top of the opaque leg – perfect with Valentine’s day just around the corner!  You can get the look with the Pamela Mann Large Overknee Heart Tights (pictured), a snip at just £7.99!

Both girls are no stranger to exciting and unique hosiery – Jade stepped out in customised Little Mix Henry Holland tights just before her and the rest of the band won the X Factor, while Dionne has been spotted in suspender tights and polka dots among others.

Jade wore hers to the Tickled Pink Girls’ Night Out gig and teamed them with black shorts, and a zip up jumper over a black shirt with a pink tie – see her look here.  Coincidentally, Dionne also performed at the gig and plumped for the classic suspender tights design.  However, the singer must have recognised Jade’s tights as she had worn them already – to switch on the Christmas lights at the Brunswick at the end of November.

Dionne dressed hers up with a black prom style dress but added an edge with some heavy duty black army boots.  A slick of pillar box red lipstick completed the look that earned her a nod of approval from the fashion elite including Vogue Italia, who named it their “Look of the Day” (see it here).  But Jade isn’t without her fair share of admirers, with designer Henry Holland counted among the bands biggest supporters.

So who do you think wore it best?  Do you like Dionne’s Punk Princess take or is Jade’s urban cool more your thing?  Tell us on Facebook or Twitter!

Heiress Hosiery

Society Heiress Paris Hilton has been spotted in LA working the trend for suspender tights in the Henry Holland Mesh Suspender Tights (see the photo here).  Despite being the heiress to an estimated $20 million fortune, she shows us that fashion doesn’t have to be expensive with the £12 tights.  Paris teamed her hosiery with an unusually understated and demure (for her) combo of a black dress, gilet and heels.

The mesh version of Henry Holland’s bestselling Super Suspender Tights  work perfectly if you want to try the trend for suspender tights but are worried about looking like you’ve come out in your underwear, as the mesh, which from a distance just looks like sheer hosiery, lends the design a subtler look.  They are perfect for everyday wear too, because the mesh at the top makes them more difficult to ladder.

Paris is just the latest in a long list of stars to tap into the suspender tights trend, including Saturdays star Frankie Sandford and pop sensation Rihanna.  With a line up like that, it’s hardly surprising that the design has been honoured by other hosiery designers who have created variations featuring hearts and pearls – check out our full suspender tights range and pick your favourite!

Try rocking your suspender tights with simple basics like Paris has – it’s too cold for bare arms this side of the pond at the moment, plus we’re not entirely convinced by the furry gilet if we’re honest (and yes,  we KNOW it was on the AW Gucci catwalk).  Try an all black look like Paris with a skater style black dress and leather jacket, or if you want to add a splash of colour keep lines clean with shift dresses and tailored cocktail shorts.

Kristen Stewart: A mere mortal, after all?

If you’re anything like us, you’ll be feeling the shame of your Christmas eating binge whilst simultaneously turning green eyed over pictured of celebs who should KNOW BETTER than to flaunt their perfect bodies in front of us at such a vulnerable time. So hurrah for Kristen Stewart, who let us catch a glimpse of her figure fixing Spanx not once, but TWICE in one day back in November.

It just goes to show that no matter how slim, beautiful and successful you are, body insecurities just don’t go away (not even if you have a boyfriend as hot as Robert Pattinson). And although we’re betting that Kristen was red-faced about flashing her slimming secret (first at the Grauman’s Theatre where she was taking part in the hand and foot prints ceremony with Robert and Taylor Lautner, then later on the Jay Leno Show), the fact is that almost all of the celebs wear them for extra slimming and an elegant streamlined figure.

Kristen looks like she’s wearing a shorts shapewear product such as the Spanx Undie-tectable High-Waisted Mid Thigh Shaper. By getting something that extends right the way up to your bra line, you can pretty much eliminate the possibility of telltale lines under your clothing – or alternatively choose a seamless product for a similar effect.

If you’re struggling with the extra pounds that Christmas can bring, why not try a shapewear product from the new ShaToBu Get Fit Range, which is shapewear featuring inbuilt resistance band technology that means you actually burn more calories when going about your everyday life with no extra effort!

Oh, and FYI, Kristen… most shapewear products come in nude shades which are perfect for blending in a bit better if you’re wearing a shorter dress, or else try a briefs product rather than shorts, which will be no more visible than normal underwear, no matter how short your hemline is!

New Jessie J Video!!!

The new Jessie J single, Domino, has already reached number 7 in the midweek iTunes charts and is AMAZING!  The video is equally brilliant, with tons of Jessie’s trademark cool and an eye catching array of outfits.  From Goth style studded lips to acid bright colours, there’s no trend too out there for Jessie.  She also wears her favourite I’m Laddered Tights, with mock hold up top, backseam and witty “I’m Laddered” motif which she’s been spotted in all over the place recently, plus we catch a glimpse of her in the super cool Mock Fishnet Suspender Tights, which feature the uber-trendy mock suspender top and mesh panelling at the top of the thigh which looks like sheer hosiery from a distance. Both of these styles are from the hugely talented Brit designer Henry Holland in collaboration with hosiery legends Pretty Polly, and are available at MyTights.com for less than the price of a pub lunch.

Watch the video and let us know what you think – is Jessie the Queen of Cool?

Hosiery of the Year Awards: Part 3

So far this week, we’ve brought you the MyTights Hosiery Awards, with our nominees winning… well, nothing actually.  Never mind.  We’ve already seen Mary Portas pip shapewear giant Spanx to the post for best brand, and all other trends bow down to the mighty suspender tights as the winner of Trend of the Year.

We also saw Kate Middleton unexpectedly take the crown for Trendsetter of the Year, thanks to her love of sheer tights, and teen-brat Taylor Momsen take the trophy for Mess of the Year.  So it’s finally time for the big one: who will be our hosiery icon of the year?

HOSIERY ICON OF THE YEAR

Winner: Jessie J

Honourable Mention: Fearne Cotton

Maybe it was obvious, but we don’t care.  Named as the new face of Pretty Polly, exploding onto the music scene and making everyone fall in love with her were just three of a hundred achievements.  And she did it all wearing some amazing hosiery – to get her look, all you need to do is check out the Henry Holland collection…  We can’t wait to see what the next year will bring for the Essex girl.

A worthy runner up, Fearne Cotton turned up at the last moment last week after taking a hiatus from her amazing tights collection.  The DJ and presenter’s love for quirky fashion extends to her weird and wonderful choice of tights, from lace to prints and everything in between with nothing off limits – our kind of girl!

So that’s it for another year!  Here’s to the next twelve months of hosiery, and may we wish all of our customers a very happy new year.

Hosiery of the Year Awards: Rihanna, Kate Middleton and more!

What a year it’s been for celebs and their legs.  In celebration of the fabulous hosiery we’ve seen, talked about and wept over in the last twelve months, we thought we’d bring you a little reminder of the best from the last year: the MyTights.com Hosiery Awards 2011.

We have decided to choose our very favourites from the world of hosiery, from the brand who took our breath away to the trend that got heads turning, and of course, the big one: Hosiery Icon of the Year – the celeb with the best dressed legs around.

Today, we take a look at the best brand and trend of 2011…

TOP TREND OF THE YEAR

Winner: Suspender Tights

Honourable Mention: Spotty Tights

What else could it have been but the classic suspender tights?  The trend was huge when it first hit a few years ago, but this year it has really resurfaced, making its way across the pond end engaging with the American celebs who all embraced it, with the likes of Selena Gomez, Rihanna and Kimberly Wyatt all donning a pair.  It also made its mark as a classic trend when it started spawning adaptations – now, not only can you get the classic Henry Holland Super Suspender tights, you can try out the embellished Pearly, sexy leopard print and pretty floral versions.

Honourable mention goes to the trend for Spotty tights.  The easiest way to rock a print and still look elegant and chic, spots rose to prominence this year when they were featured all over the Marc Jacobs and Stella McCartney AW11 catwalks.  Thankfully, the trend is set to continue well into the new year, so we can give spotty legs another outing!

BRAND OF THE YEAR

Winner: Mary Portas & Charnos

Honourable Mention: Spanx

Congratulations to Mary, Queen of shops.  Not only has she become an adviser to the government on high street commerce, she also launched her own range of clothing, including her collection of hosiery produced in conjunction with leading hosiery brand Charnos.  That alone would have been enough to propel her to top spot- and then came Armery.  The shapewear for your arms exploded onto the scene and was an almost instant sellout, with suppliers struggling to keep up with demand and a very happy group of satisfied customers daring to wear sleeveless dresses for the first time in a very long time.  Even Helen Mirren is a fan! Mary: we salute you.

The honourable mention for Spanx is well deserved.  An enduring shapewear brand adored by celebrities everywhere, only the might of Mary could have knocked it off the top spot.  It seems as though devotees just can’t stop shouting about their love for shapewear – from Danni Minogue to Eva Longoria, everyone has a Spanx addiction.

Don’t forget to check back in a couple of day for more awards, including Trendsetter of the Year (you might be surprised!)

Fearne’s Back!!!

Fearne Cotton is back, and her hosiery’s better than ever!

It’s been a bit quiet on the Fearne front recently.  We got used to seeing her in gorgeous hosiery all the time, and then, fickle as we are, we got distracted by all things Jessie J related.  But a couple of weeks ago she was photographed in an outfit so gorgeous we sat up and took notice.

Teaming a cream, ruffled, lacy skirt with a black jumper over a buttoned up shirt, Fearne rocked the cute look to perfection, toughening it up with a leather jacket, black bag an army boots.

But the best bit was, of course, her embellished spotty tights.  Matte black mock suspender tights with dainty pearl embellishments, the Henry Holland Pearly Suspender Tights have been incredibly popular since they hit the shelves a few weeks ago.  Rock them like Fearne with a slightly longer skirt to cover up the mock hold up tops for a sweet look or make the most of your legs with shorts cut high up your leg to show off all the detailing.

Get the look: Henry Holland Pearly Suspender Tights or, for a rocky edge, get a similar look with the Pamela Mann Studded 120D Tights, available in black with silver or gold studs.

Grazia tells you how to get SJP’s style…

Where Sarah Jessica Parker leads, the rest will follow. So expect everyone to be wearing statement hosiery in the new year, following SJP stepping out in bright aqua tights last week in New York. Even Grazia magazine’s high end loving fashion editors have given the look their stamp of approval, and suggested various (in their words) “snazzy, party-worthy, Christmas-dinner-talking-point tights” to try.

Colour Pop
Grazia recommends working colour pop tights in purple, blue and red – we also advise trying bottle greens, which are much easier to pull off than you’d ever think. Check out the entire selection of coloured tights, or to get SJPs look, try the Jonathan Aston 40D Tights in Hyacinth or Velvet Green.

Prints
Animal print tights seem to be back season after season, so this is a safe bet to keep you looking current for ages, and will go with loads in your wardrobe. Or try cute heart print tights- so on trend this spring. We know most of your budgets won’t stretch to Grazia’s recommended Yves Saint Laurent version, but you can get your hands on a cute style for much cheaper, plus we’ve got lots of different styles so you can choose your favourite (or get them all to last you right through until Valentine’s day!)

Cosy
Fairisle tights and Tartan tights designs are also the perfect way to work fashion tights when it’s simply too cold for patterned sheers. Try the Pretty Polly Fairisle Backseam Tights for a twist on the look, or the Pamela Mann Fairisle Tights for a more classic take on the trend.
