Laura’s Choice: SS14 Trends

I love watching new looks emerge on the catwalk, but what’s even better is seeing how they translate on the high street – and of course how they’re reflected in the world of hosiery!  With the official arrival of spring last week, I’ve decided it was high time I shared with you some of my favourite trends for SS14, along with some inspiration on how to wear them… tienga-patterned-tights

Trend: Geometric Patterns

Seen at: House of Holland, Peter Pilotto

If you want to get away with patterns at the office, go for a small, all over design, like the Pretty Polly Layered Honeycomb Tights.  Team these with a pencil skirt and knee high boots and you’ll reveal just a flash of pattern as you walk – the ultimate grown up way to work the trend.  For the younger and bolder, a short A-Line skirt and plain cropped jumper will show off bold designs like the bondage style Pamela Mann Gridlock Sheer Tights, or create a fashion forward clash effect by donning the tribal-inspired Jonathan Aston Tienga Tights with a skater dress in a contrasting pattern.

Trend: Embellishments

Seen at: Mui Mui, Prada, Marc Jacobs

Embellishments are back again, following on from last year’s Great Gatsby craze when everyone went mad for a little bling.  The best bit is embellished tights are so easy to wear, whether you choose to dress them up or down.  Try teaming something subtle like the Pamela Mann 120D Studded Tights with your regular office skirt and classic blouse, or for all out glamour go for something extra glitzy like the Trasparenze Party Tights, which are adorned with a trail of sparkly butterflies up the leg.  Mirror the sparkle with a statement necklace and voila!  A party ready look in an instant.

Trend: Florals

Seen at: House of Holland, Jonathan Saunders, Erdem

Florals are a spring staple, so you can stick with tradition and wear the Wolford Mimi Tights with summery pastel shades – the sweet floral side seam will instantly put spring in your step.  Or for an edgier way to wear them, oriental inspired styles like the Pamela Mann Flocked Rose Tights and the Jonathan Aston Rosy Tights will work really well with casual attire and a lashing of leather.

Trend: Lace

Seen at: Stella McCartney, Burberry Prorsum, Chanel, Marc Jacobs

Lace for spring is a revelation for me – I’d always thought of it as very much a winter staple, but who am I to argue with Chanel?  For a really up to the moment look team the Pamela Mann Baroque Tulle Tights with a jersey midi skirt, slouchy t-shirt, anklet booties and a long statement necklace… but I’ll be sticking to my tried-and-tested shift dress and Wolford Nahla Tights combination!

Trend: Sheer

Seen at: Christian Dior, PPQ, Maxmara

Sheer black tights are the hit of the season, with fashionistas from Alexa Chung to Miranda Kerr flying the flag for the shadowy sheers.  The best thing about them? They go with EVERYTHING, from floral sundresses to lace bodycons, and even city shorts and blazer pairings. A sheer 10-20 denier style is the ideal way to work the look – try my much loved Oroblu Sensuel Tights, which feel super soft to the touch and come in a huge range of colours if you’d rather branch out from black.  Or for a little more coverage, go for a 30 denier pair like the Calvin Klein Ultra Fit 30D High Waisted Tights (which have an in built control, top, too – perfect for form fitting dresses).

Until next week…

Team MyTights’ Capsule Collections

HannahCalvinKlein80DHighWaistOpaquesSuzannePrettyPollyVelvet120DI’ve always been a firm believer in the “capsule wardrobe”.  Whilst it can be tempting to impulse buy on the high street in a mad panic to find something new for a dinner date or party, investing in quality basics has always stood me in good stead, and over the years I have amassed a wonderful collection of investment buys that are utterly timeless.  As with most things, I have of course applied this to my hosiery drawer, and this week bring you my capsule hosiery collection, as well as the hosiery drawer essentials of the rest of the MyTights Team…

Opaque Tights

Classic opaque tights are a core staple of any woman’s wardrobe, and an absolute essential for me, given our temperamental British weather and fondness for bicycling in all weathers! My marketing expert Suzanne and I both love the Falke Seidenglatt 70 Tights, which are gloriously soft and shiny and come in a range of shades (I have them all, of course).  Hannah from the marketing team loves Calvin Klein, and the Calvin Klein 80D High Waist Tights are her absolute favourites, as they contain a little secret streamlining. Meanwhile, customer service queen Nikki and warehouse wonder woman Krys both opted for the Jonathan Aston 40D tights, which come in, as Krys says,”every colour you could want” – and so are ideal for matching to everything you own.

Lauraoroblusensual30moccaSheer Tights

Sheer tights have always been a fundamental part of my collection, and thanks to the advancements made in hosiery technology (not to mention a certain Duchess), sales of sheers have soared in recent years. I truly believe that with quality products like the Oroblu Sensuel 13 Tights you really do get what you pay for. But that’s not to say you can’t get a great bargain- Hannah loves the Pretty Polly Naturals 8D Sandal Toe Tights, which are a steal at just £5! You can even get sheers with in-built extra powers, like PR girl Emma’s favourite Charnos Energising Support which also help to keep the skin moisturised and prevent cellulite.  And the Falke Shelina Tights are a market leader when it comes to practically invisible bare leg look tights (they come in a range of shades designed with the help of dermatologists), so it’s no wonder these were Nikki’s AND Suzanne’s top pick.

Fashion Tights

Fashion tights are set to be THE accessory of the season come autumn (just ask Vogue), so I recommend adding a pair to your essentials collection. A classic pattern, like the Mary Portas Spotty Shaper Tights that made Suzanne’s must have list, or my beloved favourite lace Wolford Nahla Tights, are classic fashion styles will work season after season. For something a little more daring, make like Emma and try the Pamela Mann Paris Skyline Suspender Tights, which have an intriguing mock suspender design featuring the iconic Paris skyline – perfect got adding a little je ne sais quoi to your look.

Other Key Pieces

These three are the starting point for any capsule hosiery collection – what you add after that depends on your personal style. Krys and Nikki both opted for socks (the former for the bold, fun Happy Socks Women’s Gift Box, and the latter for the “ideal for netball” Charnos Trainer Socks). Hannah confessed a certain weakness for the Spanx Power Panties (“an absolute essential for under clingy dresses”), and I have to say I love the SPANX Active Leggings for making me feel stylish at the gym.

I hope the team’s top picks have provided you with a little inspiration for your own capsule collection – after all, it only takes one great buy to get you started!

Until next week…

Laura’s Choice: Shape It Up!

With more and more women confessing to owning and wearing shapewear in some form or another, it was about time that someone came up with something new and exciting.  Thank goodness, then, for Pretty Polly’s Shape It Up collection, which has gone some way to making shapewear seem young, cool and fun.  The five new medium control additions to their existing capsule collection are perfect for those demanding ladies who want it all – shapewear that controls effectively, feels amazing to wear and looks great too.  You’d think that any products combining all this would pretty much bankrupt you for the next season – but no, Pretty Polly have made their whole range fabulously affordable as well, so no one gets left out.

For those that like a classic shapewear shorts style that will target the traditional “legs, tums and bums” areas, the Pretty Polly Shape it Up Long Line Shaper Shorts are perfect.  With a longer leg than average shapers, these shorts are perfect for under pencil skirts or form fitting midi dresses, as the leg extends down to just a few inches above the knee.  With a wide control waistband that refuses to roll down and a seamless design to make them as discreet as possible, these are a great all round shaping solution.

For a similar silhouette with added pretty points, the high waisted Pretty Polly Lace Shaper Short gives the same medium control around the hips, tummy, bum and thighs, but has the added bonus of a high waist than extends right up to the bra line, not to mention the elegant lace design and adorable scalloped edges.  This is the prettiest shapewear I’ve ever seen – I predict this is one you might actually admit to wearing!

If you want to make an even bolder statement, the Pretty Polly Boy Shaper Short comes in a vivid hot pink as well as classic black and nude, and has a boy short design, meaning they’re ideal for teaming with minidresses, high hemmed skirts and even micro shorts.  Perfect if you just need a little help around the middle, these will flatten tums and give derrières a subtle boost.

Pretty they might be, but these styles were still designed to be worn under clothes – unlike the Pretty Polly Shaper Leggings, which will shape from ankle to braline with ease.  You can of course layer these if you want to – they’ll work well under slim fitting trousers or clingy evening dresses, as there’ll be no visible lines thanks to the seamless design and the fact that there is no edge where the shaper stops on your thigh like you get with a shorts design. But personally I think they would be fab worn on their own for the gym – their slight sheen finish makes them look just like regular exercise leggings, so fellow gym bunnies will simply think your fabulous figure means you’ve been putting in extra hours on the treadmill.

And whether you team with your leggings at the gym or under a tailored blazer on a night out, the Pretty Polly Shaper Cami is a shapewear classic.  It looks just like any basic vest top, albeit with a luxurious slight sheen to the fabric, but tucked away inside is yet more of Pretty Polly’s pretty fab secret shaping.  With adjustable straps and a non-control structured bit about the bust to lift rather than flatten, the camisole boasts shaping control all around the mid section, so it’s well equipped to flatten tummies, trim waists and smooth backs.  This is perfect for layering under dresses or sheer blouses, as everyone will think you’re just wearing a regular top and so your shapewear can remain your little secret.

The entire range is virtually seamless (any seams that do feature are super flat and usually on the inside of the leg), so there’ll be no risk of anyone guessing the reason behind your amazing new figure.  Plus, all the styles except the Lace shaper shorts have been treated with a cooling finish, so they’ll keep you feeling fresh even in warmer weather. If you love these, be sure to check out the rest of the Pretty Polly Shape it Up collection, including classic control tights and even shaping suspender styles!

Until next week…

Laura’s Choice: My Top Ten Birthday Favourites

It’s my birthday this week, and as the best birthday present I could ask for is lots of sales (!) I’ve decided to give YOU a present – 15% off all my favourites when you buy any two.  Simply shop your favourites from my top ten and enter the code BIRTHDAY15 on the basket page – hurry though, as the offer ends on Thursday 27th February at midnight (GMT).  Now the only thing left to do is decide which ones you’ll pick, so I’ve let you in on the reasons I love these key pieces quite so much…

LauraFalkeSeidenglatt70BaroloFalke Seidenglatt 70 Tights: Thick, shiny, and utterly luxurious.  Falke has long been one of my favourite brands thanks to the high quality products they produce, and the Seidenglatt 70 Tights (pictured right in Barolo) are no exception. Available in a range of glorious hues from oceanic blue rich red wine shades (I think I have almost every colour they’ve ever produced in these!), they boast a thick appearance and shiny finish that adds a little elegant flair to any look.

Levante Fishnet Tights: Fishnets are a summer staple of mine – they’re perfect for allowing a little added breathability when the weather is simply too hot for sheers, and they add a little interest whilst remaining perfectly subtle.  The Italian design of these makes these an all round great classic fishnet – and they come in sizes to fit up to 6’1” – perfect for those of us with long legs!

Jonathan Aston 40D Opaque Tights:  The perfect way splash some colour into your look, these come in a 40 deiner weight and so give even coverage without being too heavy.  Available in around 20 shades, they have a fabulously purse friendly price so you can stock up on a rainbow of shades.  You can go for colour blocking or clashing if you prefer, but I love a matchy matchy look (and as it was spotted all over the AW14 catwalks there’s now nothing to stop me!)

LauraWolfordNahlaWolford Nahla Tights: The ONLY way to do lace, I absolutely love these classic lace tights (pictured left).  With a fine net and floral lacy motif, these will instantly inject a little va va voom into your look.

Charnos Diamond Stripe Tights: Just as classic and elegant, these diamond patterned tights feature a flattering vertical design – diamonds are a girl’s best friend, after all, and the pattern will never go out of style.

Falke Shelina Tights: The best bare leg look sheer on the market.  The skintone shades have been developed with dermatologists to ensure a completely natural look on the leg (I have friends that cannot believe I’m wearing tights when I wear these with strappy sandals), while their super fine, light as air feel on the leg belies their 12 denier strength.  These are my can’t-live-without product and always, ALWAYS my go-to sheers.

Spanx Active Bottoms Shaping Compression Close Fit Pant: I’m not really a fan of footless styles and I don’t often wear shapewear, but I’m more than happy to break all my rules when it comes to these amazing shapewear leggings.  These keep everything tucked in during spin class and deliver a medium shaping control, making going to the gym a joy and eliminating the fear of bumping into someone I know on the way back!

Lauraoroblusensual30moccaOroblu Sensuel 30 Tights: When the weather is changing its mind every 2 minutes in typical British fashion, I need something that will give me a little coverage and warmth without making me overheat if the sunshine does make an appearance.  The perfect trans-seasonal staple, the semi opaque 30 denier weight and super silky feel of these (pictured right in Mocca) has made them the ideal candidate for those in between days.  Plus, they come in loads of shades so you can go for a chic black or grey for the office, or opt instead for one of the skintone shades for an airbrushing effect for your legs!

Aristoc Ultra Shine 10D Tights: For sheers with a sleek, shiny finish, I can completely understand why customers flock towards the Aristoc Ultra Shine range.  The tights give a gorgeously glossy, polished look to the leg and come in several flattering shades, making them ideal for evening and special occasions.

Pantherella Dorothy Fairisle Socks: I just LOVE the super soft, utterly luxurious feel of Pantherella Socks, and these have a gorgeous fairisle design that comes in 4 colours and a super soft construction made up of 85% cashmere – the perfect gift for someone special (I recommend buying two pairs as once you feel them you’re bound to want to keep a pair for yourself).

I hope you all love my favourites as much as I do.  Never mind happy birthday – happy shopping, ladies!

Until next week…

Laura’s Choice: London Fashion Week AW14 Round Up

I just adore London Fashion week. The anticipation of seeing the new collections from my favourite designers, the buzz of the beautifully dressed milling around Somerset house, and the general air of glitz and glamour that lights up London for a few days.  Of course I always look first to the models’ never ending legs, and thankfully the AW14 shows didn’t disappoint- there was an abundance of hosiery on display…

The Trend: Patterned Tights

Seen at: Vivienne Westwood, Meadham Kirchhoff, Daks

Vogue warned us it was coming, Carole Middleton leapt to the fore of the fash pack in hers, and now the catwalks have verified it: patterned tights are a bona fide trend for AW14.  And it seems that whatever your style, you can find a pair to suit – Vivienne Westwood teamed her bold triangular tribal patterned tights with 80s power suits and lashings of leather, while Meadham Kirchhoff went for a subtler fairisle style pattern, teamed with blazers and side parted hair for a schoolgirl-esque look, and Daks upped the ante on their heritage style with stand out tartan tights.

Get the Look: Pamela Mann Triangle Suspender Tights, Wolford Lynne Tights, Pamela Mann Fairisle Tights

Vivienne Westwood show, Autumn Winter 2014, London Fashion Week, Britain - 16 Feb 2014

The Trend: Black Opaque Tights

Seen at: Giles, Vita Gottlieb

Perhaps surprisingly due to the prominence of black sheers we’ve seen this season, opaques seemed to be the name of the game at LFW (aside from Alice Temperley, who layered black sheer tights under everything.  Kardashian clan member Kendall Jenner strutted down the Giles catwalk in a pair, with the whole Giles catwalk packed full of thick black tights teamed with ultra practical brogues and woollen beanies in a chic monochrome palette.  Vita Gottlieb went for a more striking look, with structured silhouettes taking pride of place on the runway, finished with heels and opaquer-than-opaque jet black tights.

Get the Look: Falke Soft Merino Wool Tights, Trasparenze Cortina 100D Tights

The Trend: Neutral Socks

Seen at:  Rokasanda Illincic, Topshop, Bora Aksu, Christopher Raeburn, Antipodium

Socks were everywhere for yet another season at LFW – for me, Antipodium were one of the winners, teaming grey ankle socks with t-bar shoes and a Romanesque palette of burnt orange, bronze and steely grey.  Away from the Roman holiday, I also loved the look at Bora Aksu, where grey/black ankle socks were teamed with feminine silhouettes in vibrant hues.

There were plenty of variations on the theme – Christopher Raeburn went for anthracite knee high socks to complement his military theme, while Topshop opted for thick knee high pushed down to the ankle, legwarmer style, in muted beige tones with midi dresses and fur coats.  By and large it looks as though the trend for bright and pastel ankle socks won’t continue past spring into the autumn, though Alice Temperley again swam against the current and incorporated a colour pop blue pair into her show.

Get the Look: Trasparenze Monique Socks, Falke Family Short Socks

Daks show, Autumn Winter 2014, London Fashion Week, Britain - 14 Feb 2014
The Trend: Coloured Tights

Seen at: Michael Van Der Ham, Orla Kiely, Daks

Speaking of colour, there was no lack of it at Fashion Week, with Michael Van Der Helm putting all others to shame with his array of 60s style looks, all finished with bright coloured tights in orange, while and yellow and plenty of organza detailing.  I also loved Daks’ burgundy tights set in an autumnal palette with plenty of heritage overtones (though the bearskins are just a step too far for me).

Orla Kiely’s show was a tongue in cheek reference to the notoriously dreadful weather in her native Ireland – models carried umbrellas and teamed raincoats with coloured tights in white, white and brown. It’s easy to see why Kate Middleton’s such a fan of the designer’s work!

Get the Look: Pamela Mann 50D Coloured Tights, Falke Pure Matt 100D Tights

Michael van der Ham show, Autumn Winter 2014, London Fashion Week, Britain - 17 Feb 2014
The Trend: Hold Ups

Seen at: Tom Ford, Temperley

Statement fishnet stockings were seen at the Tom Ford show – covered at the front with skin tight pencil skirts which were slashed up the back to reveal the tops.
I also spotted hold ups layered under sheer floor length gowns at Alice Temperley, who had taken her collection in a whole new bohemian direction.

Get the look: Levante Fishnet Hold Ups, Falke Peacock Lunelle Hold Ups

We’ll be selecting our A/W fashion collections soon, so I’ll be using all my LFW inspiration to help me narrow down the vast selection.  And of course I can’t wait to see how the highstreet interprets these trends – and incorporate them into my own wardrobe!

Until next week…

Laura’s Choice: Lovely in Lace

pamela-mann-linked-leaf-lace-tightsFrom its origins in the early sixteenth century to the SS14 catwalks, there’s no denying the enduring power of lace.  Perfect for adding a little pizazz to tired pencil skirts and boring jersey dresses alike, take a look at my top lace tights from the MyTights collection and transform your wardrobe in just a few clicks…

Classic lace styles are ideal if you want something subtle for the office or a versatile look that’ll work for both day and night. The Charnos Scroll Net Tights feature a vertical zig zag scroll design on a netted construction, and will look as at home with a shift dress and pumps for work as they do with flat knee high boots and a jumper dress for a more casual weekend look.  Or for something a little girlier, the Pamela Mann Linked Leaf Lace Tights have a gorgeous leaf pattern woven into the fishnet base – perfect for teaming with a one shoulder or wrap dress for an indulgent Grecian style.

Catwalk queens that want something on trend and fabulous, sit up and take note – lace was one of the most tweeted terms during fashion week.  Designers including Burberry, Peter Pilotto and Meadham Kirchoff all paid homage to the fabric, with particular emphasis on coloured lace and feminine silhouettes.  The Pamela Mann Baroque Tulle Tights feature a lacy baroque floral design on a micronet base, and come in three shades (classic black, pink and violet).  Make like the catwalks at Jean Paul Gaultier and team with a frilled patterned dress for clash points, or if you’re not quite bold enough go for a soft chiffon dress in complementary pastel shades.  Ankle socks are also set to be a big trend for the third consecutive spring season, so why not kill two birds with one stone in the Jonathan Aston Sweet Roses Lace Anklets, which come in black and ivory shades?  Team with sweet peter pan collar dresses, à la Orla Kiely, or toughen up with leather as seen at the Jean Paul Gaultier show.

If you’re the type of lady that likes the finer things in life, I can’t recommend the Wolford Nahla Tights highly enough.  The perfect option if you’re looking for luxury lace to go with an evening cocktail dress, they have a swirling design on a net base, as well as all the design trimmings we’ve come to expect from the high end brand.  I team these with a plain colour pop dress and statement necklace to balance the intricate detailing.  The Jonathan Aston Alaska Tights are ideal for frosty winter mornings – though not strictly lace, these have made the list thanks to their cosy 80% Merino wool content and crochet design, which will give the effect of lace with all the warmth of wool.

Meanwhile, vintage vixens should know that lace is a retro wardrobe staple.  The Jonathan Aston Sweet Roses Tights are perfect for that old school look – with a vintage style back seam created from the cut and sew design, these lacy lovelies boast an intricate rose design and come in black or ivory (the ivory is perfect if you’re after something special for your wedding day).  And fans of hold ups need not fret – the Trasparenze Holiday Hold Ups feature a sensational floral design that trails all over the fine mesh base.

sweet-roses-lace-tights_2Plus Size

Were you created with curves?  Worry not – voluptuous ladies are of course catered for at, and that’s no exception when it comes to lace lovelies.  The Pamela Mann Plus Size Paisley Net are gorgeously flattering for your curves and are available up to a UK size 32.  What’s more, their sister product, the Pamela Mann Paisley Net Tights come in the regular Pamela Mann “one size” – which fits UK sizes 8-14 – so no one gets left out.

Whether it’s a new office look or a budget busting LBD update, an elegant luncheon  accessory or a vampish evening look you’re after, the versatility of lace hosiery means you can get a look that’s timeless AND on trend! So get shopping – you’re just a lashing of lace away from a sensational new look.

Until next week…

Laura’s Choice: Valentine’s Gift & Style Guide…

Love is in the air at, and with February 14th fast approaching, I thought it was time to share my favourite products from our extensive Valentine’s hosiery collection with you.  Whether you’re looking for perfect gift for a loved one or seeking something special to wear on the day, I’m confident we’ve got everything you could possible need…

pamela-mann-be-my-valentine-tightsValentine’s Fashion

Even the most cynical among you won’t fail to find your inner romantic with some of our bolder Valentine’s fashion ideas.  The Pamela Mann Large Heart Opaque Tights are a smile inducing style for the more daring among you – covered in bright red hearts, these black opaques will look great paired with a scarlet wrap dress and heels.  If you love the idea of hearts but prefer something a little more understated, The Pamela Mann Sheer Hearts Tights are covered in tiny black hearts which look more like polka dots from a distance (so they’re even office appropriate!)

If your workplace allows something a little more unconventional, why not show your office crush how you feel in the Pamela Mann Be My Valentine Tights?  These stunning sheers feature the words “Be My Valentine” in calligraphic script at the ankle of each leg, extending up the back of the calf before transforming into a sultry back seam.  And whether you’re shy of saying how you feel out loud or want to declare your love from the rooftops, the Moulin Rouge Je T’aime Tights are just the ticket.  Much like the Be My Valentine tights, these feature the words “Je T’aime” at the ankle, again extending into a leg-lengthening seam up the back of the leg.  Well, if you’re going to say those three little words, why not do it in the language of love?

sweet-roses-lace-tights Seams & Lace

If you like your seams to make a little less of a statement, I highly recommend the Pretty Polly Nylons Tights.  Part of the perennially popular Pretty Polly Nylons collection, these have a high shine finish perfect for adding the glam factor to your look, and a chic, classic back seam – no fuss, no frills, and a budget friendly £6.00.  If you’re a fan of the elegant seamed look but want to treat a loved one (or yourself!) to a little luxury, the Falke High Heel Seamed Tights bring beautiful design and superior quality to the back seam style.

Lace is another way to add an indulgent edge to your Valentine’s day look.  The utterly gorgeous Jonathan Aston Sweet Roses Lace Tights combine luscious lace with a sultry seam in a vintage-inspired cut and sew design, meaning you get the best of both worlds.  I personally adore my Wolford Nahla Tights, which blend a floral motif and net design for a really intricate look – I love teaming mine with a berry pink dress and statement necklace.

Stockings & Supenders

Though I’m not often spotted in stockings and hold ups due to my inclination to cycle at top speed around London, it’s undeniable that they’re a Valentine’s Day staple.  One of our most

popular stockings styles, the Cette Berlin Stockings are about as chic as they come, and feature a sexy back seam and traditional Cuban heel design to boot.  After a plainer option?  The Aristoc Sensuous 10D Stockings are a classic sheer stocking with a beautiful lace top.  Of course, fishnets are the way to go if you want something that’s both a classic and fashion forward – try the Levante Fishnet Stockings, and rein in the raunchy by teaming these black fishnet stockings with a really simple black dress and pointy court shoes.

Don’t forget to top these off with a little something from our range of suspender belts.  Stockings and suspender sets are also perfect if you’re shopping for a gift – the Jonathan Aston Seduction Set contains back seam stockings with a matching black suspender belt, or the sensational Oroblu Amelie Kit contains plain opaque stockings and a sweet polka do design suspender belt.

And if you are going to be on the go, my top tip is to avoid wrap dresses, as they’re liable to give away a little more than you’d perhaps like of your choice of hosiery!

Boudoir-Lace-Suspender-TightsHold Ups & Strip Panty

If you just can’t handle the faff of suspender belts and fiddly straps in your already hectic lifestyle, take the stress away with hold ups and strip panty styles.  The Wolford Eyla Stay Ups and Le Bouget Essential 15 Hold Ups are both ideal for Valentine’s as they both have discreet red detailing at the tops (which are modern and minimalist on the former, and luxuriously lacy on the latter).  Strip panty tights are even more convenient, as they mix the look and feel of stockings with the practicality of tights.  The Trasparenze Strip Panty 20D Suspender Tights are our bestselling style, but I also love the Charnos Boudoir Lace Suspender Tights for a little extra special detailing.

So whether it’s something sexy for a Valentine’s date, some fun fashion to liven up the day or a gorgeous gift for someone special, I hope I’ve given you ample inspiration to make this Valentine’s Day your best (dressed) one yet.

Until next week…

Laura’s Choice – Seams

falke-high-heel-seamedOnce upon a time all tights had a back seam.  When tights were first made, they were stitched at the back instead of woven into a tube – and so the back seam was born. Now an iconic vintage look, during the war women who couldn’t afford tights on their rations even used to paint on a pretend seam onto their legs. Luckily we do not have to go to such extremes nowadays ladies, and with such a multitude of back seam tights available there is a pair for everyone!

penis growth guide

I adore the luxury German brand Falke, and their exquisite High Heel Seamed Tights in 12 denier do not disappoint. They provide a superior fit and feel, and their matte finish is extremely versatile. Invest in a pair and prepare to join the Falke fan club. For a purse friendly classic pair, the Pamela Mann Jive Seamed Tights in 10 denier feature a glam back seam and traditional Cuban heel – perfect for fashionistas eager to emulate the glamour of yesteryear. The Moulin Rouge High Heels Tights are also available in navy for a subtle twist on a classic style.

If you lust after a high gloss finish but don’t want to skimp on that vintage Cuban heel and solid coloured sole, then the Pretty Polly Nylons Back Seam Tights are a brilliant alternative. Part of the immensely popular ‘Nylons’ range from Pretty Polly these 10 denier sheer tights are sublimely shiny and available in 2 different sizes.

Fishnets are so popular right now, and what could be more alluring than back seamed fishnets? For a flirty yet subtle style that won’t break the bank go for the Jonathan Aston Fishnet Back Seam Tights. Or for a more prominent net we have the Pamela Mann Wide Net Seamed Tights, which also feature a contrasting red back seam for a sultry look.

Superstar Beyoncé wore polka dot tights with a sexy back seam at the Grammy’s last week – and where Queen B goes, fashion lovers everywhere are sure to follow.  Get the look with the Moulin Rouge High Heels Dotty Tights – their darling dots, slight sheen finish and – of course- chic seam are perfect for that LBD.

For ladies who love to shimmer, why not choose a metallic backseam? In 10 denier, the Moulin Rouge Metallic Seam Tights adorn your legs with either a silver or gold sparkly back seam. If you still want to feel glamorous but a subtler look is what is required then the Jonathan Aston Contrast Seam and Heel Lycra Tights have are available with a red back seam. Their 15 denier and shiny finish will leave your legs looking divine.

moulin-rouge-metallic-seamFrom contrasting back seams to ankle details, Pamela Mann are experts at giving vintage styles a modern twist. The Pamela Mann Love Seam Tights in15 denier are extremely popular with our beloved customers thanks to the romantic detailing on the heel with ‘Love’ spelt out in beautiful calligraphy. Or say it en français instead with the Moulin Rouge Je T’aime Seam Tights – parfait for all you Francophiles. Romance is again in the air with the Pamela Mann Bow Seam Ankle Tights featuring a cute bow ankle detail. Their sheer 15 denier and white shade are brilliant for blushing brides, too!

For another sweet option look at the Pamela Mann Heart Seam Tights in 15 denier. Instead of a classic line, their back seam is formed of many small hearts. Voluptuous ladies can opt for the Pamela Mann Heart Seam Plus Size Tights – especially created for glamorous ladies with curves.

Nothing says elegance to me like sumptuous lace! The Jonathan Aston Sweet Roses Lace Tights are available in either black or white is covered in delicate rose details and featuring a subtle back seam. Not just gorgeous but fashionable too, these lace tights have been featured in Vogue no less.

A quirky alternative are the Pamela Mann Zips Tights with an appliquéd gold zip detail running all the way down the back of your leg in lieu of a seam. In 50 denier, these opaque tights will also keep you toasty warm.

jonathan-aston-seamed-stockingHold Ups and Stockings

Stockings just cannot be beaten for their sultry allure. The Cette Berlin Sheer Seam & Heel Stockings come in 15 denier and bring a 1940’s feel to your hosiery drawer with that classic Cuban heel and back seam. Their matte finish renders them suitable for every occasion leaving you with the best dressed legs around. If you prefer a shinier finish to stand out in the leg limelight, the Jonathan Aston Seam and Heel Lycra Stockings are the pair for you. In 15 denier with a shiny finish these stockings provide a fabulous fit.

Now for a ravishing red option! With a bold colour pop seam, I highly recommend the Pamela Mann Jive Seamed Stockings. Made in 10 denier and featuring a narrow back seam, slight sheen finish and Cuban heel, this pair are perfect for matching with a sultry scarlet number.

Stockings look stunning but hold ups never leave you searching for that missing suspender belt. The Jonathan Aston Seam and Heel Lycra Hold Ups in15 denier pack a shiny finish along with that obligatory back seam and Cuban heel combination.  For a subtler take on that Cabaret chic, Pamela Mann Sheer Jive Seam Hold Ups are available in nude. Their classic matte finish and 10 denier are ideal for the office due to their understated look.

Calling all partners out there… the Jonathan Aston seduction Set would make an outstanding gift. Forget flowers, this set is both sexy and functional, including black 10 denier back seam plain top stockings and a classic suspender belt.

Hooray for back seams! A wardrobe staple perfect for achieving a sophisticated vintage style.

Until next time…

Laura’s Choice: Wonderful, Wonderful Wolford…

wolford-ricedots-tightsOur Wolford fashion sale has emptied the shelves of load of styles – it seem as though you can’t get enough of Wolford!  Here’s our pick of the best styles for any occasion…

Lunch out with Friends

For when it’s time for nibbles with fellow fashion lovers only the WOLFORD RICE DOT TIGHTS will do. Their elegant spotty design turns my pals green with envy as they sip their lattes. Made in a fine 15 denier, these pretty patterned tights are available in several shades, but Sahara/Purple is my absolute favourite for something a little of the beaten track. If patterns just are not your cup of tea, but you still want legs that impress, then shine away in the Wolford Luxe 9 denier tights. Their natural shades provide an instant air brushed look and their slight sheen finish further flatters those pampered legs.

For something slightly warmer plump for the WOLFORD NEON 40 TIGHTS. Boasting a 40 denier strength  (they feel practically indestructible!) and 20 denier appearance, these sumptuous semi-opaque tights are delectably shiny and luxurious. Available in a range of shades, including natural colours, they’ll give you unparalleled coverage for a flawless finish and even complexion.

wolford-nahla-tightsEvening drinks

For an elegant look that’ll take you effortlessly from drinks to dancefloor, the WOLFORD NAHLA TIGHTS are perfect.  Their open net adorned with lacy floral motifs that provide a fresh, elegant update to that classic fishnet look. One warning though, you will receive so many compliments that you’ll hardly have time to sip that delicious cocktail!

For something just as elegant but right on trend only the WOLFORD LYNNE TIGHTS will do. Combining gingham and tartan (both key patterns for SS14, they’re bound to garner compliments from my fellow fashion loving friends!

Or if you are obsessed with opulent opaque tights then the WOLFORD VELVET DE LUXE 66 TIGHTS really are the cream of the crop. Living up to their name, they combine a delectable velvet soft touch with smooth matte elegance. Divine! If you want to turn up the heat, you can always opt for the WOLFORD SATIN DE LUXE TIGHTS. With a suberbly high shine finish, these deluxe opaque tights are made of tough stuff ensuring that no matter how long you stay out dancing the night away, these tights will see you through.

It can be nerve wracking enough meeting up with that special someone, so luckily you can depend on Wolford quality to guarantee that snags remain a pest of the past. Make a great impression with the WOLFORD BOOTLACE TIGHTS. Believe me ladies, when I say bootlace, I mean that from the toes to the mid-thigh an actual elasticated satin ribbon has been threaded through knitted loops creating the illusion of a laced up boot. This gorgeous detailing is accompanied by a pattern of small black dots, while their nude 20 denier covers any flaws with no need for photoshop – the perfect way to accentuate your best assets!

There are certain occasions when only sultry stockings will do, and those occasions demand the WOLFORD INDIVIDUAL 10 DENIER STOCKINGS, featuring luxurious levels of softness and enviable coverage banishing those blemishes. What if your date suggests a walk along the chilly Thames? In that case it is time to elevate the denier in the WOLFORD FATAL 80 SEAMLESS STAY UPS. As deadly chic as their name suggests, they provide the comfort of hold ups while at the same time keep those legs lovely and toasty.. Made with care to avoid any seams you can rest assured that your outfit will stay free from any unsightly lines.

Now cast your mind ahead to those sunny days in June when we will be basking in the sunshine -  ah well we can dream! In warmer climes, the WOLFORD FATAL 15 SEAMLESS STAY UPS from that gorgeous Fatal collection are now perfect for that slim fitting summer dress thanks to the absence of any seams. Their fine 15 denier and matte finish leave your legs looking flawless as you mingle the evening away.

For a slightly lighter denier and a flash of colour, the WOLFORD EYLA STAY UPS in 10 denier have bright post box red tops, providing a stylish yet elegant look.

Ladies, now if you have an insight into how much of a Wolford fan I am, I hope you’re as excited as I am for the new Wolford hosiery pieces coming soon!

Laura’s Leggings: The Ultimate Guide to All Things Footless

falke-cotton-touch-footless_1Whilst leggings will never occupy the same space in my heart devoted to tights, I can’t help but notice they are selling like hot cakes of late, which is why I have thrown in my two-penneth on the subject and come up with a round-up of the best footless tights and leggings, whatever the occasion…

Classic styles will take you from day to night with ease and go with pretty much everything you own. So when the wind is howling and the rain is lashing against the windows, reach for the Pretty Polly 200D Fleecy Thermal Opaque Footless Tights, which boast a sumptuously thick 200 denier design and a fleecy lining to keep you extra warm and comfortable.  However, if it’s multi-coloured legs you crave, the Pamela Mann 3D Footless Tights are available in over 15 shades at an exceedingly purse friendly price! They also come in a plus size version, but if you find the Pamela Mann 50D Plus Size Footless tights a little too light, you could also take a look at the Cette London Plus Size Leggings for a comfortable fit for curves in a 60 denier.

For extra comfort the Falke Cotton Touch Footless Leggings contain high levels of cotton, keeping them breathable and cosy. Super soft, these luxurious leggings will keep your legs warm on even the bitterest winter mornings and provide a great fit. But if you’re the type of girl who wants it all, you will adore the Spanx Look at Me Cotton Leggings, which contain an impressive 64% cotton that is extra thick for superior coverage – plus, with the tried and tested technology that has made Spanx a global name, these leggings will trim any tummy and shape that bum.

If after all these choices, you’re wondering what is the difference between leggings and footless tights? Well, the simple answer is thickness! Leggings tend to be thicker than footless tights and this means that you can wear them under a shorter top.

I adore products that prove that there is no need to sacrifice comfort for elegance. Perfect for the workplace or an elegant evening look, the Trasparenze Lituania Leggings provide both in spades thanks to their matte finish and range of classic colours. When you are dressing up for one of those extra special occasions, the Trasparenze Push Up Leggings are an excellent choice. This magical pair lifts and enhances your derrière, leaving you looking stunning in that slim fitting dress.

If you are after an all-encompassing coverage for bums, tums and thighs and want to make sure that your silhouette stays seamless, then the Spanx Ready-to-Wow Structured Leggings are divine. Providing stronger control, you can wear these deluxe leggings as trousers thanks to their super thick design – with all the in-built benefits of Spanx. The thick generous waistband and medium level of control means that they will feel comfortable to wear all day, and no centre seam ensures that no unsightly lines ruin your outfit.

jonathanaston-polar-mainPrefer your legwear to make more of a statement? Fashion followers take heed, the Pamela Mann Leather Look Leggings are ideal for providing that leather look that is tipped to be on-trend in SS14. These leggings are very Olivia Newton-John, however, we recommend matching these lovely leggings with a fluffy white jumper instead of a full leather jumpsuit à la Olivia!

If snakeskin is the one that you want, the Trasparenze Mystery Leggings feature a subtle snakeskin effect. To complete the whole animal kingdom (and if you’re feeling particularly brave) we also have Pamela Mann Leopard Footless Tights, in a bold monochrome design. After something to help you stand out from the crowd on a Friday night? Our Wet Look Leggings by Pamela Mann are for you. Sublime and shiny these leggings would match perfectly with black high patent heels for a glamorous, head turning look. A glittery alternative for disco worthy legs are the Pamela Mann Lurex Highball Footless Tights – perfect for fans of all things that glimmer and shine.

I find Spanx’s range of leggings absolutely sublime for the gym, and the Spanx Active Bottoms Shaping Compression Close Fit Pant allows me to keep fit in style. Their medium control ensures keeps us feeling comfortable and svelte during exercise, providing plenty of flexibility – after all that is pretty important on the treadmill! The moisture wicking technology makes sure that you stay comfortable and hygienic while you work out, and the icing on the cake (or granola bar) is the curved seam for a flattering shape.
sparkly-footless-tightsFor a similar look and feel but with shorter length, I would suggest the Spanx Active Bottoms Shaping Compression Knee Pant – a little more palatable for when the sun finally makes an appearance.

Last but definitely not least, the Country Kids Capri Tights are suitable for kids from 3-11. They contain high levels of exquisite Pima cotton for both comfort and quality and are available in a range of colours including pretty pastels. Or if your little princess is more of a disco diva, obsessed by all things that glimmer, the Country Kids Sparkly Footless Tights will most definitely impress even her discerning eye.

So whether you love leggings for sport or for fashion, for the office or just for the kids, there is definitely something here for everyone – even myself!

Until next week…
