Hollywood actress, and star of new flick The Place Beyond the Pines, Eva Mendes has been spotted – pardon the pun – out and about in New York in not one, but two perfectly pretty polka dot ensembles… both of which were teamed with crochet style fashion tights.
There was a clear theme for the weekend: first Eva arrived at her hotel on Saturday in a
gorgeous vintage inspired pale brown dress covered in white polka dots, teamed with tough brownleather boots and belt and sweet open net tights. Then she wore the same tights the following day with… more spots! Opting this time for a ladybird patterned shirt dress with black accessories, the star took a Sunday stroll around the city – the perfect way to flaunt her patterned pins.
Not quite fishnet tights but more of a fine crochet design, you can get Eva’s leg look with the luxurious Falke Fine Square Tights, which have a fine mock fishnet design, or the Mary Portas & Charnos Spotty Net Tights (pictured).
What we love best about Eva’s style is that she shows how easy it is to pull off a chic, simple pattern. Patterned tights needn’t be the preserve of the young, slim or beautiful (though Eva, we know, happens to be all three). They’re as easy as plain opaques to wear if you stick to small, uniform, all over patterns in blacks, browns and other neutral shades – as well as being a whole lot prettier to look at!
Spotty tights are the obvious choice – elegant, understated and timeless, they’ll go with everything. You could also go for small diamonds, chevrons and other classic designs – as long as it’s neat and repetitive it’s pretty much guaranteed to look chic and sophisticated. Not to mention versatile: style with a chic dress and boots combo like Ms. Mendes for lunch with the girls, pair with a pencil skirt for an office wardrobe update or team with a t-shirt dress and flats for laid back weekend style.
It was announced earlier this year that Eva is teaming up with New York & Company to create a vintage inspired fashion line – and based on these looks we bet it’ll be a surefire hit. We can’t wait to see what winning designs she comes up with!
