After spotting that Carla Bruni-Sarkozy’s utterly flawless legs were down to the secret of “cosmetic tights”, Grazia decided to investigate the makeover of tan tights – stating that they are “in the midst of a massive, if secret, fashion revival”. This summers trend for bare legs can be traumatic for those without perfect pins – so “the logical thing to do is cheat”. Wolford’s Luxe 9 Tights are a celebrity favourite – as seen on the legs of Beyonce, Carla Bruni, Claudia Schiffer and SJP. Pretty Polly’s Naturals range is another favourite for looking “as if you are not wearing tights”, but the winner is Falke’s Shelina range! Our very own founder and hosiery expert, Laura Godsal, was even quoted in the article saying “When I am wearing my Shelinas, people always say to me ‘I cannot believe you are wearing tights’. We have noticed a massive surge in sales of all natural tights, which is usual in the summer, but this year we are already 15 percent up. The toeless Shelina has taken the biggest leap in sales because you can wear them with sandals an no one knows”. So as Grazia put it – “you will never have a bad leg day again!”
So the sheep of the fashion writers have suddenly discovered that natural/ flesh/ tan tights and stockings make legs look better! Shock! Hold the Front page!
Good grief, you’d think that the Falke, Wolford, M&S, PP and Fogal tights they are raving about had only just hit the shelves; and toe-less tights have also been around for a few years now.
These people have been led by the nose by people like Trinny and Susannah who’ve said that tights are verboten and that bare legged is best. Not true! Take a look around our city centres at all the woman (a lot old enough to know better) with awful legs wearing horrible platform cuff shoes, no tights and a belt for a skirt – the epitomy of 70s hooker.
