It was as almost as if the designers had predicted our slow start to summer, because all over the catwalks there were attention-grabbing, glistening golds bright enough to replace the sun on an over-cast day in May. Both bold and beautiful, this trend is a sure fine way to get men sweaty under the collar without the hot weather!
At MyTights HQ’s we have a sneaky suspicion that this revival of Eighties lamé and head-turning metallic hues will be very popular among the fashion elite. One of our favorite collections from S/S was Louise Goldin who brought to us innovative sheer tulle inserts in a gold cyber-bodysuit along with metallic lurex leggings. Similar designs are available here at Mytights! To turn Goldin’s runway into a reality choose Pamela Mann Highball Footless tights and if you really have your finger on the fashion pulse, you’ll layer up with ankle socks over the top!
But if you’re after more of a glare-free option that won’t blind co –workers opt for Emilio Cavallin’s Metallic Pie De Poule with Black Tights. The combination of metallic and grubby gold hues achieve a sought after antique look and more of a day time friendly vibe. And they wouldn’t look out of place in Balmain’s collection where the garments looked as though they had been buried for several years and unearthed moments before the spring show!
Guess what, we’ve spotted our favourite radio DJ indulging in this trend, the slave to fashion: Fearne Cotton. She was arriving at LFW ahead of the PPQ show wearing a Vivienne Westwood dress, Gold tights, a pair of Gina shoes and a Mulberry bag. We especially love her look, because she took her outfit to new dizzy heights of fashion with the layering of cute ankle socks over her tights. Someone has been studying the catwalk! When asked about her look Fearne said: “I love socks and I just think that socks for me next year will be quite big. Socks always, I love Socks” (Metro.co.uk).
