After enduring yesterday what was, quite frankly, the most nail biting three hours and 27 minutes of Wimbledon so far, with Murray almost falling at the hands of Verdasco and being forced into a heroic comeback from 2 sets down, we SO hope we’re not tempting fate by writing this. But there’s no denying that the Championships have proven themselves to be a hotbed of fashion inspiration for us here at MyTights, with celebs such as Downton Abbey’s Laura Carmichael and Pippa Middleton already spotted throughout week 1 (not to mention Kim Sears, Andy’s always-chic girlfriend of 7 years) – and tons more famous faces expected over the next couple of days. And we quite simply wouldn’t be doing our job if we didn’t share with you the fashion inspiration we’ve gained from Wimbledon 2013 (we’re sure that checking the scores every 2 minutes also contributes, in its own way). So whether you take inspiration from the Wimbledon Whites on show or go red, white and blue to show your support for the man who’s brought joy to so many British hearts, we’ve got everything you need to look tennis-tastic this summer…
All White on the Night
White can be tricky to wear in block, unless you are a) at a wedding or b) playing on Centre Court… but get it right, and you too can look as chic as Sharapova. Neon or tan accents are the way to bring white colour blocking up to date – try white tights under a white shift with a tan leather belt, bag and wedges for a sophisticated style that wouldn’t look out of place in Vogue (Anna Wintour is also a huge tennis – and Murray – fan). Or else go for white ankle socks with chunky heels, a crisp white t shirt and neon skater skirt for a three trends triple whammy.
Red, White and Blue
When he wins, he’s British; when he loses, Scottish- as the old joke goes. Maybe that was true once upon a time, but it was the Union Jack he played under when he won at SW19 during London 2012 – and we loved him just the same after his defeat at the hands of Federer a year ago. Join in the Murray Mania and show your support in red, white and blue – you can colour block or even go all out by flying the flag on your legs with our union jack tights.
Nail these looks and it’s the equivalent of game, set and match for your wardrobe. And win or lose, we’re backing Murray all the way – so let’s hope that come Sunday, we’ll be celebrating our first British Male Wimbledon win since 1936 (and that we don’t have to wait quite so long for the next). Go Andy!
