Radio 1 chart show presenter Jameela Jamil is known for her endless pins and high hemlines, flashing her bare legs wherever she goes. So it was a surprise when the DJ and fashion bunny decided to cover up at the weekend in a gorgeous pair of seamed tights. We all know that a classic back seam is the quickest way to instant chic, and Jameela funked hers up perfectly with her usual quirky style – a sheer panelled mini dress, zebra print jacket and flat Chelsea boots.
Unfortunately, the wind and Jameela’s short dress conspired against her and revealed a little glimpse of a boxer brief peeking out. Boxer brief styles are perfect for teaming with pencil skirts or longer lengths as they add a little durability around the part of your sheers that suffer the most tugging and yanking, as well as giving your thighs and bum a little support. If you’re opting for a boxer brief style, Pamela Mann’s Jive Seamed Tights are the way to go – they also have a reinforced toe so you can wear them again and again. But if you, like Ms. Jamil, are rocking a high hemline, we definitely recommend going for sheer to waist design like the Wolford Individual 10 Tights, which also have a sandal toe so you can team them with your peep toes without any worrying about unsightly reinforcement being on show!
Back seam tights are super flattering too, as they make your legs look like they go on forever (not that Jameela, who is 5’11, needs any figure flattering tricks). Wear your seamed sheers with a casual ensemble like Jameela by teaming with flat ankle boots or trainers, a slouchy jumper dress and khaki parka for daytime, then glam them up in the evening with a twenties inspired beaded dress, t-bar heels and a fringed clutch.
What’s not to love? Get your hands on a pair of classic seamed tights (or even try out seamed stockings for a really retro style) and team them with everything you own for an injection of instant glam.
