There’s no denying that Pretty Polly is one of the most well-known names in the world of hosiery for a reason. Keeping our pins perfected and protected since 1919, they have successfully navigated the fine line between keeping their older customers happy with a constant catalogue of amazing basics, while bringing their fashion tights collections to a new hosiery audience. The proof is in the pudding, and with Beyoncé’s Superbowl backing dancers
clad in Pretty Polly’s secret socks collection, no one could question that Pretty Polly have still got their finger firmly on the fashion pulse.
We shouldn’t be surprised, then, that their spring/summer range is nothing less than all out fabulous. Butterfly prints are set to be HUGE in the coming months, and the Fly Flutterby Tattoo Tights feature a gorgeous tattoo-style butterfly design – so you can tick off two trend boxes in one. Seams also feature but with a sexy, modern twist; like the Mesh Frontseam Tights which are made from a fine micromesh and feature a striking front seam. We love the Pretty Puzzling Jigsaw Backseam Tights, which feature a backseam design made from puzzle pieces! The quirky style shows Pretty Polly have been picking up some tips from their partnership with House of Holland designer Henry Holland.
Henry Holland tights are a favourite of celebs everywhere looking for something different to make their pins stand out from the crowd, and everyone who’s anyone has been spotted in his instantly recognisable designs – from Little Mix to Rihanna. Holland’s passion for hosiery shows clearly in his designs which are always edgy, innovative and bang on trend. Henry Holland is so devoted to tights he’s even confessed to wearing them himself, telling Vogue that he wore “lady tights” during fashion week to alleviate the pain his shoes were causing him.
He’s kept it simple this season, just adding two new styles to his core collection which includes the ever-popular suspender tights. Both tap into the trend for mock over the knee sock styles (as demonstrated by Beyoncé and co), and with a trademark House of Holland flourish they come in bold stripes or print-of the-season gingham. Perfect for getting the look of over the knee socks without the annoying falling down bit (how comes this never happens to celebs, by the way?!), they even have a v-line brief that matches the sock design.
Holland might have described his spring/summer collection as “grumpier than usual” – but it’s certainly put a smile on our
faces! The only thing that worries us now it how on earth we’re going to select our favourites from the Pretty Polly and House of Holland collections…
