FASHION WEEK: Tights Highlights from SS15

The month of endless Fashion Week(s) have come and gone. From New York to Paris,  designers from all over showcased their newest designs for Spring/Summer 2015. While we have just gotten into autumn, it is NEVER too early to start thinking about the upcoming trends for this spring. We here at MyTights have all the upcoming tights trends here for you so you can start stocking up early.

New York

Footless Black Tights seemed to be a popular accessory at the Polo Ralph Lauren Show. While these specific tights are paired with pretty white lace dresses and black accessories, these tights can be styled in virtually any way- from dressed up to dressed down.

The Fashion World exploded when Tom Ford gave us lots of legs styled with Black Hold Ups all over his runway in London. Styled with LBD’s, black hold ups are yet another versatile accessory that can easily be brought from day to night with a simple change in hemline.

Still not sure about socks with heels? David Longshaw showed us in London that this trend will be very alive this upcoming spring by pairing pretty socks with heels on all of his models. This trend is perfect for early spring/late fall when you want to still wear your strappy sandals without having your toes get too cold. Protection and style, what more could you ask for!?

Giamba donned all her models in white spotty tights on her runway in Milan. While we do not have white spots in stock (they have been dully noted though), black will work just as well with this trend. Take Giamba’s advice and do not be afraid to mix the spots with more spots or floral patterns.

Dolce and Gabbana shared lots of hosiery trends on their runway. My personal favorite was floraly, lacy knee high socks. These socks can be very versatile and compliments almost any outfit. Pair with strappy sandals to wear when the weather isn’t quite warm enough.

Jean Paul Gaultier said au revoir to his ‘ready to wear’ career by pulling off the most outrageously fun fashion show of Paris Fashion Week- I was extremely jealous of this ‘beauty pageant’. Many of his models were clothed in coloured tights. Pair with anything from denim shorts to a LBD as these tights are very versatile.

Last, but definitely not least: Louis Vuitton also stepped onto the tights bandwagon this year by dressing his models in lace tights. Do not be afraid to pair these tights with a pattered dress like Louis Vuitton did, it looks wonderfully fun!

Fashion Trend: Meggings (Men in Leggings)

Men in…leggings? Although it sounds bizarre at first, it is true that this is expected to become a major trend in men’s fashion. But, can men look masculine in an article of clothing that was created to show off the female figure? MyTights think they can!

In fact, meggings have been spotted on the runway and even celebrities have been seen supporting this new look.

So its official, the trend has started. Now is the time to jump on the bandwagon guys and order your meggings for the upcoming spring and summer today!High-fashion runway shows including John Galliano and Givenchy had their models strutting in meggings, predicting the upcoming trend. Celebrities Russell Brand and Lenny Kravitz were caught casually wearing meggings on the streets and one could also argue that Kayne West’s skin-tight leather pants mimicked this new megging look.

MyTights offers plenty of gender neutral leggings to help you get started. The Spanx Active Bottoms Shaping Compression Close Fit Pant and Spanx Ready-to-Wow Structured Leggings have a full range of sizes from small all the way up to XL. We would recommend men use large to XL depending on your physique . For bulkier men, MyTights also offers Cette  London Plus Size Leggings which includes bigger sizes ranging from XL to 3XL!

Ladies, we need to encourage all of the important men in our lives to look great  and feel comfortable. So inform everyone from your significant other to your brother to about the trend because let’s face it… real men wear meggings.

Spring/Summer 2014 Trends

MoschinoSeptember is a busy month for fashionistas who have their eyes glued to the runways of Fashion Week. From New York to London to Milan to Paris, the world?s top designers have brought out their Spring/Summer 2014 collections for us to see. After poring through the collections, I picked out some of my favourite hosiery and sock trends and similar products that we have here at MyTights!

Chanel is a personal favourite of mine; I?ve always loved their shows. This year they displayed a colourful artistic theme, all inspired by an antique German paint chart. Each model wore either black or white mid calf socks. A similar style would be the Falke Family All Round socks, which come in both black and white, to tone down any colourful outfits you might be sporting this coming Spring.

Comme des Garcons pushed boundaries at their show with a rebellious punk theme. Black, white and candy pink tights were all incorporated into the outfits, but the candy pink were really the statement-makers in my opinion. Pamela Mann 50 Denier tights come in the simpler black and white, and the pink too if you?re feeling daring!

Moschino, celebrating their 30th anniversary, made sure their show was a real party. A common piece in their collection was the super trendy micronet tights. Although they fit perfectly with the heavier, punk ?bad girl? outfits, they also added a dark twist to the more feminine floral looks. The black Jonathan Aston Micronet tights are perfect if you want to give the edgy Moschino look a try!

All these styles can be pretty flexible for any occasion, so take a look at these trendy pieces and make them your own!

New York Fashion Week: The Future’s Bright…..

While you are contemplating getting out our winter woollies, the great and the good of the fashion world have congregated in New York to coo over what the top designers are offering us for Spring Summer 2012.  It’s amazing how much orange has been on show over the last few days – and no I am not talking about the reality TV “stars” in the front row.  Combined with navy, nude and aqua it seems we’ll all be wearing orange next season.

Jill Stuart created floaty orange skirts combined with light nude tones – if you are not sure about stronger shades of orange this is the softer way to wear this high impact colour.

Victoria Beckham used bold colour blocked combinations of bright orange and navy in her sleekly styled collection.  Navy dresses with accessories that give flashes of bright bright orange are the way to go when you want to make a statement which is still sophisticated and classy.  Certainly in Beckham’s collection it looked sharp and grown up.

Other shades of blue combined with oranges have been all over America’s fashion capital this weekend.  Thakoon combined bold turquoise and sky blue with bold 70s inspired paisley style prints and embroidery which were dominated by orange.  Costello Tagliapietra’s show featured a softer palette and stunning draping of beautiful floral prints featuring rust shades and duck egg blues.

We’ve got a few months to go but get ready for the high street to be dominated by a riot of orange early next year.  Of course when the time comes we’ll be advising you to colour block using opaque or sheer tights –think orange tights navy dress.  If you can’t wait, get onto the trend for orange prints with Pamela Mann’s Doodle Hearts tights.  With all the 60s and 70s inspired fashion around right now, if you plan your brights carefully for this season you may even have some pieces that will see you through the spring too.
