When it comes to figuring out exactly what’s trending in the world of hosiery, forget trawling through the tabloids or religiously following the catwalks, we have another foolproof method – and it comes from you, our customers! Through the magic of modern marketing, we’re able to keep tracks on the terms that our customers search for most when shopping on our website, therefore finding out which hosiery you stylish lot have been wearing on your legs this season. With this in mind, we’ve taken a look at the top 5 common search terms, and rounded up our favourite styles of each, leaving us with the crème de la crème that you’ve been snapping up left, right and centre…
Pamela Mann Fishnet Tights
Search Term 1: Fishnet Tights
What wardrobe is complete with a pair of trusty fishnets? Great in the summer, you can also wear in the winter by layering over sheers or like me, coloured tights. If you’re after a classic pair that won’t break the bank, head to the Pamela Mann Fishnet Tights, which do exactly what they say on the tin and come in a host of brighter colours if you’re feeling experimental. Need something a little more understated for the office? Micronet tights are the way to go, not least with the Jonathan Aston Micronet Tights, available in both black and natural and offering coverage similar to a pair of sheers. My favourites however are the Trasparenze Rita Tights, which have a slightly wider net than would be considered traditional. Fab for layering over a pair of coloured tights to brighten up plainer outfits – I particularly love the Indigo and Mattone (burnt orange)! And proving that you lot know what you’re talking about when it comes to fashion, fishnets have emerged as one of the top trends for this season, so stocking up is a must!
Falke Seidenglatt 70D Tights
Search Term 2: Glossy Tights
Shiny without leaving everyone you pass wishing they’d packed a pair of sunglasses, glossy tights are brilliant for taking a day outfit into the evening. For an everyday pair of sheers, it comes as no surprise to me that the Aristoc Ultra Shine Tights are continually amongst our bestsellers. Robust, affordable and chic to a T, these shiny 10 denier tights fly off the shelf. If you love the look of these but require something EVEN shinier, I’d also recommend the Levante Class Tights, which are ever so slightly thicker at a 12 denier. Proving that wrapping up warm can be glam too, the Falke Seidenglatt 70 Tights always deserve a mention. Virtually indestructible, soft to touch and with a sensational shimmer, they’ve long been one of my favourites, and come in 4 stylish shades. No round up of glossy tights would be complete without the Neon 40’s from Wolford, that not only make legs stand out from the crowd but combine a durable 40 denier yarn with the appearance of a 20 denier sheer – great for navigating between seasons!
Search Term 3: Seamed Hosiery
The hosiery world seems to have gone (quite literally) full circle! You might not know that all nylon tights originally started out with a backseam, as this was the point where two sides were hand-sewn together, thus creating a line. After years of being considered dated or unfashionable, seamed hosiery is as popular as it’s ever been, and it’s great for giving your outfits a retro twist and can even make your legs appear longer than they are! If it’s a classic pair of tights you’re after, look no further than the Jonathan Aston Seam and Heel Lycra Tights, with their slender backseam and vintage Cuban heel. As well as the more traditional styles, our brands love nothing more than to put a modern day spin on the trend, hence styles such as the Jonathan Aston In Bloom Tights (floral seam) and the Charnos Spot Backseam Tights (polkadots, predictably). It’s not only tights with seams either, and if you’re a fan of hold ups, you’ll love the Jonathan Aston Sweet Roses Hold Ups, which combine a cut and sew lace pattern with slender seam.
Search Term 4: Spanx
No matter how many times we get up at the crack of dawn to partake in a new exercise fad, it’s unlikely we’re ever going to be 100% happy with our figure. That’s where shapewear comes in, and it seems that our customers love the shaping magic of Spanx just as much as us. And with our brand new Spanx page, it’s easier than ever to find the right style for you! Spanx products come in a wealth of different forms, depending on your problem zones and the type of strength you require. While it would be impossible to round up everything in this paragraph, I should definitely point you in the direction of their newest Shape My Day range. Comprising everything from shaping shorts that lift your rear through to all over shapers, the collection is sleeker, more effective, and even more affordable that styles past. Replacing the Slim Cognito range, they offer very strong control to tackle your problem zones instantly.
Pretty Polly 200D Fleecy Opaque Thermal Footless Tights
Search Term 5: Footless
Footless styles are great for wearing with sandals or open toed shoes, so always grow in popularity at this time of year. Generally thinner than leggings, footless tights usually require a longer hemline to cover up, and if you’re a fan, we have a fab selection at MyTights. For connoisseurs of colour, your first port of call should be the Pamela Mann 3D Footless Tights. Just like their footed counterparts, these 50 denier tights are available in an array of colours, with everything from classic black through to the vibrant flo yellow. If you’re less about colour and more about prints, check out the Pamela Mann Bonnie Leggings, which have a tartan pattern that even the most patriotic of Scots would be proud of. It may be a bit premature in August, but we’ve already got one eye on the winter, so it’s also worth taking a look at the Pretty Polly 200D Fleecy Thermal Opaque Tights, which have a brushed fleece lining to keep the cold firmly out!
Until next time…
