What MyTights Wore – 11.04.14

Spring has finally sprung and the only thing prettier than the blossoming trees outside is the sheer range of fabulous hosiery inside the MyTights office.

Nix-Dorella-Leggings02

Nix looks fabulous wearing the gorgeous Trasparenze Dorella Footless Leggings with a short chevron patterned dress and large gold hoop earrings. Follow Nix’s example and wear your mini dresses with style by matching them with leggings.

Laura-Floral-Tights-Mar-03

Floral tights are an elegant way to embrace fashion tights. Laura wears her floral patterned tights with a pleated long-sleeved dress, slim black belt, patent black heels and statement silver necklace.

Emma-PamelaMannFashion-03

Embracing the horizontal stripe trend, Emma teams her stripy fashion tights with black ankle boots, skater skirt and horizontal striped jumper. Mock over the knee tights that combine opaque and sheer deniers are perfect for when the weather is not quite warm enough for low denier sheer tights.

Hopefully we will have even more gorgeous weather next week, whatever happens we’ll be wearing some fabulous tights!

Laura’s Choice: SS14 Trends

I love watching new looks emerge on the catwalk, but what’s even better is seeing how they translate on the high street – and of course how they’re reflected in the world of hosiery!  With the official arrival of spring last week, I’ve decided it was high time I shared with you some of my favourite trends for SS14, along with some inspiration on how to wear them… tienga-patterned-tights

Trend: Geometric Patterns

Seen at: House of Holland, Peter Pilotto

If you want to get away with patterns at the office, go for a small, all over design, like the Pretty Polly Layered Honeycomb Tights.  Team these with a pencil skirt and knee high boots and you’ll reveal just a flash of pattern as you walk – the ultimate grown up way to work the trend.  For the younger and bolder, a short A-Line skirt and plain cropped jumper will show off bold designs like the bondage style Pamela Mann Gridlock Sheer Tights, or create a fashion forward clash effect by donning the tribal-inspired Jonathan Aston Tienga Tights with a skater dress in a contrasting pattern.

Trend: Embellishments

Seen at: Mui Mui, Prada, Marc Jacobs

wolford-mimi-tights

Embellishments are back again, following on from last year’s Great Gatsby craze when everyone went mad for a little bling.  The best bit is embellished tights are so easy to wear, whether you choose to dress them up or down.  Try teaming something subtle like the Pamela Mann 120D Studded Tights with your regular office skirt and classic blouse, or for all out glamour go for something extra glitzy like the Trasparenze Party Tights, which are adorned with a trail of sparkly butterflies up the leg.  Mirror the sparkle with a statement necklace and voila!  A party ready look in an instant.

Trend: Florals

Seen at: House of Holland, Jonathan Saunders, Erdem

Florals are a spring staple, so you can stick with tradition and wear the Wolford Mimi Tights with summery pastel shades – the sweet floral side seam will instantly put spring in your step.  Or for an edgier way to wear them, oriental inspired styles like the Pamela Mann Flocked Rose Tights and the Jonathan Aston Rosy Tights will work really well with casual attire and a lashing of leather.

Trend: Lace

pamela-mann-baroque-tulle-tights

Seen at: Stella McCartney, Burberry Prorsum, Chanel, Marc Jacobs

Lace for spring is a revelation for me – I’d always thought of it as very much a winter staple, but who am I to argue with Chanel?  For a really up to the moment look team the Pamela Mann Baroque Tulle Tights with a jersey midi skirt, slouchy t-shirt, anklet booties and a long statement necklace… but I’ll be sticking to my tried-and-tested shift dress and Wolford Nahla Tights combination!

Trend: Sheer

Seen at: Christian Dior, PPQ, Maxmara

Sheer black tights are the hit of the season, with fashionistas from Alexa Chung to Miranda Kerr flying the flag for the shadowy sheers.  The best thing about them? They go with EVERYTHING, from floral sundresses to lace bodycons, and even city shorts and blazer pairings. A sheer 10-20 denier style is the ideal way to work the look – try my much loved Oroblu Sensuel Tights, which feel super soft to the touch and come in a huge range of colours if you’d rather branch out from black.  Or for a little more coverage, go for a 30 denier pair like the Calvin Klein Ultra Fit 30D High Waisted Tights (which have an in built control, top, too – perfect for form fitting dresses).

Until next week…

A MyTights Experience: London Fashion Weekend

In January, I abandoned my home in freezing cold Minnesota—located in the United States—and travelled to a fast-paced city consumed with fashion. In a little over two months, London has made me obsessed with staying updated on popular and upcoming styles. This was especially apparent after London Fashion Week.  I was fortunate enough to be able to attend a designer and a trend catwalk and interning at MyTights has possessed me to find tights to accompany these upcoming trends!

pink-floral-tightsDuring the designer catwalk show, I watched Maria Grachvogel’s garments float down the runway. They were very feminine, made with chiffon and consumed with bold neutrals (especially brown) and pastel colours. The dresses and tops were also a bit oversized and flowy, which actually accentuated femininity.  I think that the Wolford Sheer 15 Tights would correspond perfectly with chiffon and flowy garments because they are very fine and mimic the sheer look of chiffon.

I also attended a trend catwalk. In this show, there were three specific trends that were highlighted for the spring and summer season. I’ll give you a hint- they were titled “Flower Power”, “Good Sport” and “Precious Metals”.

The first trend “Flower Power” featured—you guessed it—big and bold flowers. Pamela Mann Ditsy Pink Floral Tights are patterned with floral and summer colours.  The Jonathan Aston Poppy Hold Ups and Jonathan Aston Rosy Tights (I would recommend the nude ones) are also bold, but create a twist on this upcoming trend with the flowers embedded into them.stardust-glitter-seams

The second trend, “Good Sport”, was inspired by sports and athletics. The colours included vibrant orange, red, white and blue, and the designs  used geometric shapes and were paired with tennis shoes. The Charnos Stripe Mesh Tights subtly mimic the look of a referee’s shirt, which can carry-on the sporty look with any garment, but especially an athletically enthused one.

The last trend, “Precious Metals”, included metallic pleats—especially gold. The Trasparenze Charter Hold Ups and the Pamela Mann Lurex Highball Tights will help you shimmer into the summer trend. The Jonathan Aston Stardust Tights also add a hint of this trend in the seam without being consumed by it, which is a great way to include this trend into your wardrobe for daytime.

I can’t wait to whip out my trendy tights this summer and I hope sharing my experience will help you embark on a summer full of fashion!

Your summer wardrobe – sorted!

We know it can be hard to think about summery clothes when the rain is pouring down outside and temperatures have accutane in alaska plummeted, but it’s time to get your wardrobe sorted for the summer, because before you know it bikinis and flip flops will start to be replaced by duffel coats and boots.
Hosiery might seem unnecessary when the sun is shining, but in fact there are a few essentials that every girl needs in her summer wardrobe…

Floral Tights
It doesn’t matter how hot it gets during the day, it tends to get a bit chilly at night and that’s when you could do with a cute pair of tights to slip on under your summer dresses. Floral tights are a summer statement and are also perfect for those summer days when it’s not quite as hot outside as you’d like!

Lace Tights
If you can’t bear to let go of your fashion hosiery even when it’s shorts weather outside, why not try lace t

lasix

ights or fishnet tights? These will keep you cool but also give your legs some coverage as well as, of course, looking great.

Crotchless Tights & Hold Ups
Crotchless tights and hold ups are also great for keeping you cool and fresh in the summer, especially at work when you’re sitting down all day. Pretty Polly’s Pretty Cool Tights combine an open gusset with a smooth matte finish, so are perfect for everyday wear.  For special occasions, a sultry pair of luxury hold ups will make you feel incredible.

Bare Leg look Tights
Of course, the ultimate summer staple is a great pair of bare leg look tights. Perfect for when you want gorgeously flawless legs under your summery dresses, there’s a huge range to choose from – so head to our sheer tights advice page to start the hunt for your perfect pair.

Not ready for Pastels just yet?

Has reading our feature on all of the celebs wearing coloured tights thrown you into a panic?  Don't worry, we have plenty of fashion options Cialis viagria levitra for you if you're not quite ready for the bright and bold tones of summer.

Everyone knows spring is the time to whip off those layers and start wearing your pastel basics and bright coloured tights, but if you just can’t face it yet why not try something a little subtler to give your wardrobe a chic boost?  Here are our top three looks for getting a new season look without looking completely underdressed…

1)      Subtle Colours

Swap your black opaques for a subtle colour palette that will lift your look without being too garish.  Try brown tights with beiges and animal print, or grey and navy pairings for understated chic that works for day or evening… coloured opaques and wool tights will make sure you stay weather-appropriate without compromising on style.

2)      Chic Prints

A

cheap cialis online

ny fashionista worth her salt knows that this season prints are big and bold – but let’s face it, wearing Hawaiian prints at the moment isn’t going to be your best ever look.  Stick to the ladylike prints of last season for the time being, with spotty tights the classic go-to design that will never truly go out of fashion.  They’re the hosiery equivalent of the trench coat – go-with-anything apparel that bridges the awkward gap between seasons and always looks on-trend.

3)      Cold-weather Florals

Florals are always the first sign of summer arriving, but at the moment your gorgeous flowery outfits are sitting at the back of your wardrobe.  The solution?  Try floral lace tights or opaque floral tights.  You could even try wearing them under your summer shorts or sundresses for a nod to the new season without fallen victim to the plummeting temperatures.
