Spanx from MyTights.com in the Daily Mail's Top Ten Underwear!

Hooray!  The Spanx In Power Line Super Higher Power from MyTights.com has been chosen as one of the top ten pairs of Knickers by Daily Mail writer India Sturgis, who calls them “an absolute essential under evening dresses”.  We wholeheartedly agree – in fact, forget the other nine entries.  Who needs “date night” or “holiday” pants when you have a miracle worker instead?  Kelly Osbourne is someone else who agrees – a few days ago she was quoted in the Daily Mail as saying, when asked about her favourite underwear: “Spanx! I don’t do sexy underwear” – and she reckoned that anyone who said otherwise was talking rubbish.

An attractive slight sheen finish makes India’s control pants of choice nicer to wear than standard shapewear, plus they stretch from mid thigh right up to braline to keep everything tucked in an give a really gorgeous streamlined silhouette.  As India points out, they are perfect under your “occasion” outfits but we even love them under a tshirt and jeans!  These really are an all singing, all dancing shapewear product – one of our favourites for sure.

If we’ve convinced you and you’re thinking of giving shapewear a try, here are our top tips for getting it right…

1)      Choose the right size.  The sizing of our products should be as per the product’s size guide – this is designed to fit properly so getting anything smaller (as lots of women discover) WON’T make you slimmer – it will just dig in, causing lumps and bumps as well as being incredibly uncomfortable!  If you want to be held in more you need to go for a firm or strong control level instead.  In your ACTUAL size.

2)      Know how to wear it.  Some women find that high waisted products can roll down, making shapewear uncomfortable and giving an unattractive bulge.  This is usually caused by an ill-fitting product (in which case follow our advice above re: getting the perfect fit).

Also making sure that you have pulled the product up properly at the back can help (either get someone else to do it for you or check in a mirror!)  However, ladies with shorter bodies may get this problem even with the best fitting product – the way to solve it is by putting your bra on over the shaper, effectively “pinning” it in place.  Or to eliminate the issue all together, why not go for a bodysuit instead?

3)      Pick the right shade.  Most shapewear comes in two options: nude or black.  Go for nude if you’re wearing anything short, revealing or sheer to minimise its visibility.  Most nude tones have been made a little bit prettier with an attractive sheen finish – we especially love Spanx’s Slimmer and Shine Slip which comes in a gorgeous rose gold – so pretty we don’t want to cover it up!  Alternatively, black is great for making shapewear just a little bit sexier and is perfect under a black dress.

Get the celebrity look…

Some clever celebs have been wearing fantastic hosiery recently! So we’ve trawled through all the celeb hosiery lovers, decided who is wearing them best and then come up with some alternatives for you to replicate their style! So read on to find out what is hot…

First off is serial hosiery wearer: Fearne Cotton. Fearne loves a bit of animal print and she rocked a leopard print dress with a pair of black stripy patterned tights and flat ankle boots. In another outfit that showed her kooky style she wore bright red opaque tights that packed a punch against her simple black outfit and red ruby lips. Jonathan Aston and Pamela Mann have similar pairs.

Rihanna was photographed whilst filming her music video in a multi-print ensemble that hits ‘The Dressing-Up Box’ trend perfectly. She wore fishnet shorts underneath colourful hotpants and these Jonathan Aston fishnet shorts will help you recreate the look. Rihanna also rocked a pair of Henry Holland Bandana Tights on her latest tour!

Pixie Lott who famously wore the Henry Holland Chain Suspenders at V-festival also loves her over-the-knee socks, and has been spotted wearing them with a number of outfits! In a 1960s style short, long sleeved navy shift dress, she relied on her socks to keep her warm (pictured).  Trasparenze have lots of colours to choose from.

Serena, Serena, Serena!! If you are obsessed with Gossip Girl you will know where that line comes from. Both “Serena” and actress Blake Lively have received accolades for their amazing and enviable wardrobe. Pictures taken from the set show Blake wearing tights and she is rocking these black ribbed tights. Try Falke Soft Merino wool ribbed tights to recreate the look.

Another actress who has earnt her fashion stripes with her fashionable boho chic and designer credentials is Sienna Miller. Sienna wore a 1970s Chloé inspired outfit that showed she loves the camel and fur trend! Sienna chose elegant black opaque tights, finishing her outfit beautifully. Try Pretty Polly’s 100 Denier nylon tights or Pamela Mann 80 denier tights.

Lastly, Kelly Osbourne, who was pictured wearing Henry Holland’s Bandana OTK Tights at Glastonbury, chose a more elegant look when performing with The Pussy Cat Dolls. She wore an ultra sexy outfit paired with fishnet spotted tights - Gerbe’s Plumetis Polka Dot Tights (that were featured in Vogue!) are a great alternative.

HenryHolland AW10 – Already a Celeb Favourite!

agyness_hh_bandanaPsst … Wanna know what the fash pack will be wearing this up and coming season? Of course you do! Some of you eagle-eyed hosiery addicts may already have spotted the new season designs on the models at the House of Holland autumn/winter 2010 show earlier this year, and on numerous of Henry’s friends at this years Glastonbury, so you’ll be thrilled to know they’re going to be part of Henry’s affordable collaboration with Pretty Polly. We were also lucky enough to mingle with Henry and his best friend Agyness Deyn at the London Fashion Week preview of the collection!

There’s lots to love in the new season lineup, and fans of Henry’s signature mock suspenders are in for a real treat as there are two hot new styles for autumn. First up, the Chain Suspender Tights, featuring a plain opaque leg to mid-thigh where it becomes sheer with chain-print suspenders! For the seriously attention-grabbing option, you’ll want the Bandana Suspender Tights – as seen on Daisy Lowe at Glastonbury! Sheer all over with a zig-zag suspender, the legs are printed with an exclusive Bandana design which will definitely make a statement for autumn.

If suspender tights aren’t really your thing, though, you’re in luck as the Bandana range comes in several different styles. As well as the mock suspenders, you can get the print on the all-over Bandana Tights, Bandana Over-The-Knee (tights with a mock OTK look) – as seen on Kelly Osbourne at Glastonbury – and our favourites, Bandaknee Tights, which have a sheer leg and a diamond-shaped bandana print on the knee. The Bandana range has already found itself a couple of A-list fans in Agyness Deyn (pictured) and popstar/model/style icon Sophie Ellis Bextor, who have both been spotted in the Bandana Tights.

Also getting in early on the autumn Henry Holland for Pretty Polly collection was Pixie Geldof, who we spotted at Glastonbury wearing two different pairs of the new season socks – the triple chain socks and the ball and chain socks. We also love the Elastocks: a plain black leg is finished at the top with an elastic band emblazoned with the House of Holland logo, so no-one will be in any doubt who designed your legwear! There are three different styles to choose from: a knee-high, an over-the-knee and a suspender version. We bet Pixie’s got all three, and we know you’ll want them all too!

Given the popularity of Henry’s previous designs for Pretty Polly, we predict a sell-out! Some of the designs are available to order now and make sure you check back soon to snap up the rest!
