Our founder Laura jetted out to NYC last week for New York fashion week and was invited to the utterly incredible Emilio Cavallini AW 12 show. Inspired by the 1950s model Bettie Page, the first real pin up girl and femme fatal, the show opened with a short film called “Risqué Business at the Florence Excelsior Hotel” which was followed by an absolutely stunning collection.
Called “peculiar and provocative” by the Fashion Herald Blog, the show was almost avant-garde in its presentation. Fashion blog Hogger & Co. called it “a sensual display of sexy leg and body wear”, while the Fashion Herald Blog got past the peculiarity and loved the stockings that, they say, “really help define your outfit”.
Established 40 years ago, Emilio Cavallini is known as a brand that is synonymous with innovation and cutting edge design. Cavallini himself says he was “intrigued by the idea of pulling hosiery out of anonymity, of transforming it into a ‘garment’ unto itself…. Let’s face it, the leg makes up more than 30 percent of a head-to-toe look.”
The AW 12 collection gave us a good idea of what to expect when it comes round to autumn again… and the great news is you can start keeping an eye out now because some of the trends will already be around. Here are three of our favourite looks that we can’t wait to try!
Soft Fetish

For those of you that couldn’t get to grips with the fetish trend the first time around, here’s your chance to try it again. In the autumn fetish styles will return with a softer, almost ladylike look. Lace hosiery and flor
al designs will be blended with intricate fishnet and shredded hosiery – you can keep it tough with leather or team with silks and chiffons to create sexy, elegant looks.
Tattoo

Jessie J has already been spotted in them and styles of tattoo tights are already available, but they’ll be around in a big way come the autumn. Emilio Cavallini has adapted the trend to make it softer, with lace, net and swirling designs all featuring in classic black – who would have thought that tattoo tights would eve become office appropriate?
Textured Patterns

Chevron tights & argyle designs will be back in the autumn, mixing with heavy-duty optical illusion graphics. We recommend teaming these with your shift dresses from this season for an ultra-chic work look.
With so many exciting designs, we almost can’t wait for it to be autumn again! What’s your favourite look? Do you love the new collection or are you dreading having to wear leather again? We want to know what you think, so head to our Facebook page or tweet us and let us know!
