Diamonds are a girl’s best friend…

We love patterned tights! There, we said it. Patterns make it really easy to add depth to your outfit with their intricate patterns and designs.  We’ve selected a few of our favourites at the moment and here is how we wear them…

Diamond print is bold and classic, and the Charnos Diamond Stripe Tights pattern is quite visible.  For this reason, it is important to maintain uniformity with your clothing so as to not overwhelm the outfit. A single colour skirt or shorts will add the coverage you need without distracting from the diamond pattern.  Keep your shoes simple to maintain the focus on your legs.

These Pretty Polly Chevron Cable Tights add more coverage so we like to save them for foggy and rainy days.  Pair them with a white lacy dress or an eyelet skirt to keep some summer flair in your outfit.  If you want to add colour to your outfit, a colourful, lightweight scarf or bright jewellery will do the trick without confusing the ensemble.

While the Charnos Diamond Net Tights are not artwork tights, they have a  fine design that reminds me of an artist’s careful hand.  However, this pattern is what makes it so versatile for the winter and summer months.  Try pairing a pastel coloured dress with them and simple flats for a spring outfit on a cooler day.  For a bolder look, a bright coral t-shirt dress would be perfect for a summer night out.

However you choose to wear your diamond and chevron patterned leg-wear, be sure to leave a comment telling us how you did!

Mother-Daughter Looks

Like mother, like daughter. When it comes to fashion, most girls can’t help but have their wardrobe inspired by their mothers! This is especially true amongst famous families—and who can blame them? The Obamas, Middletons, Beckhams and even the Ciccones (Madonna) have daughters that follow similar trends in their hosiery and you can even mimic their looks with your own mum!mother-daughter-look-obamas-polaroid

The Obama girls are often overshadowed by the man of the (white) house, but that doesn’t stop them from looking fabulous. Michelle always keeps it chic and classy with a beautiful ensemble usually paired with plain opaques, but she recently started following the spring and summer trend with glossy sheers. They make her legs look moisturized and fit, without overpowering her look. Her daughters have a similar chic style with plain opaques, but show their youth with the popular colour blocking technique. The girls also matched each other in complimentary colors, how cute! You can get the Obama family’s looks with the Aristoc Ultra Shine 10D Tights for mum and the Jonathan Aston 40D Opaque Tights for the daughters!mother-daughter-look-middletons-polaroid

Kate Middleton and her mother Carole also have corresponding classy styles; however they have recently started to differ in their hosiery. Kate is maintaining her royal appearance with her famous bare or almost-bare look while her mother has been adding a twist to her wardrobe with her elegant patterned tights. They both look stunning, and you can too with the Calvin Klein Ultra Fit 30D High Waisted Tights for Kate’s classic look and the Charnos Diamond Net Tights for Carole’s chic legs.mother-daughter-beckham-polaroid

Victoria Beckham’s fashion choices are always making headlines and little Harper is well on her way to follow in mummy’s footsteps. Both babes were spotted in wool tights—mummy in black and Harper in white. The contrasting duo will continue to make fabulous hosiery choices, and you can match the Beckhams and your baby girl with the Falke Soft Merino Wool Tights and the Country Kids Warmer Tights.

mother-daughter-look-madonna-polaroidMadonna and daughter Lourdes have been turning heads for their edgy hosiery selections. Madonna has been getting attention for her eccentric fashion choices for some time and still uses her fishnets for a 80s throwback vibe. Lourdes is a rookie compared to her mum when it comes to making headlines in fashion, but she does so with ease by clashing a tartan skirt and stripy tights. Getting these looks has never been easier with the Charnos Fishnet Tights for a Madonna inspired legs and the Pamela Mann Stripe Over Knee Suspender Tights for Lourdes’ edgy ensemble.

It’s never been easier to be as stylish as these mother-daughter icons and it can all be found at MyTights.com!

Laura’s Choice: SS14 Trends

I love watching new looks emerge on the catwalk, but what’s even better is seeing how they translate on the high street – and of course how they’re reflected in the world of hosiery!  With the official arrival of spring last week, I’ve decided it was high time I shared with you some of my favourite trends for SS14, along with some inspiration on how to wear them… tienga-patterned-tights

Trend: Geometric Patterns

Seen at: House of Holland, Peter Pilotto

If you want to get away with patterns at the office, go for a small, all over design, like the Pretty Polly Layered Honeycomb Tights.  Team these with a pencil skirt and knee high boots and you’ll reveal just a flash of pattern as you walk – the ultimate grown up way to work the trend.  For the younger and bolder, a short A-Line skirt and plain cropped jumper will show off bold designs like the bondage style Pamela Mann Gridlock Sheer Tights, or create a fashion forward clash effect by donning the tribal-inspired Jonathan Aston Tienga Tights with a skater dress in a contrasting pattern.

Trend: Embellishments

Seen at: Mui Mui, Prada, Marc Jacobs

wolford-mimi-tights

Embellishments are back again, following on from last year’s Great Gatsby craze when everyone went mad for a little bling.  The best bit is embellished tights are so easy to wear, whether you choose to dress them up or down.  Try teaming something subtle like the Pamela Mann 120D Studded Tights with your regular office skirt and classic blouse, or for all out glamour go for something extra glitzy like the Trasparenze Party Tights, which are adorned with a trail of sparkly butterflies up the leg.  Mirror the sparkle with a statement necklace and voila!  A party ready look in an instant.

Trend: Florals

Seen at: House of Holland, Jonathan Saunders, Erdem

Florals are a spring staple, so you can stick with tradition and wear the Wolford Mimi Tights with summery pastel shades – the sweet floral side seam will instantly put spring in your step.  Or for an edgier way to wear them, oriental inspired styles like the Pamela Mann Flocked Rose Tights and the Jonathan Aston Rosy Tights will work really well with casual attire and a lashing of leather.

Trend: Lace

pamela-mann-baroque-tulle-tights

Seen at: Stella McCartney, Burberry Prorsum, Chanel, Marc Jacobs

Lace for spring is a revelation for me – I’d always thought of it as very much a winter staple, but who am I to argue with Chanel?  For a really up to the moment look team the Pamela Mann Baroque Tulle Tights with a jersey midi skirt, slouchy t-shirt, anklet booties and a long statement necklace… but I’ll be sticking to my tried-and-tested shift dress and Wolford Nahla Tights combination!

Trend: Sheer

Seen at: Christian Dior, PPQ, Maxmara

Sheer black tights are the hit of the season, with fashionistas from Alexa Chung to Miranda Kerr flying the flag for the shadowy sheers.  The best thing about them? They go with EVERYTHING, from floral sundresses to lace bodycons, and even city shorts and blazer pairings. A sheer 10-20 denier style is the ideal way to work the look – try my much loved Oroblu Sensuel Tights, which feel super soft to the touch and come in a huge range of colours if you’d rather branch out from black.  Or for a little more coverage, go for a 30 denier pair like the Calvin Klein Ultra Fit 30D High Waisted Tights (which have an in built control, top, too – perfect for form fitting dresses).

Until next week…

Laura’s Choice: My Top Ten Birthday Favourites

It’s my birthday this week, and as the best birthday present I could ask for is lots of sales (!) I’ve decided to give YOU a present – 15% off all my favourites when you buy any two.  Simply shop your favourites from my top ten and enter the code BIRTHDAY15 on the basket page – hurry though, as the offer ends on Thursday 27th February at midnight (GMT).  Now the only thing left to do is decide which ones you’ll pick, so I’ve let you in on the reasons I love these key pieces quite so much…

LauraFalkeSeidenglatt70BaroloFalke Seidenglatt 70 Tights: Thick, shiny, and utterly luxurious.  Falke has long been one of my favourite brands thanks to the high quality products they produce, and the Seidenglatt 70 Tights (pictured right in Barolo) are no exception. Available in a range of glorious hues from oceanic blue rich red wine shades (I think I have almost every colour they’ve ever produced in these!), they boast a thick appearance and shiny finish that adds a little elegant flair to any look.

Levante Fishnet Tights: Fishnets are a summer staple of mine – they’re perfect for allowing a little added breathability when the weather is simply too hot for sheers, and they add a little interest whilst remaining perfectly subtle.  The Italian design of these makes these an all round great classic fishnet – and they come in sizes to fit up to 6’1” – perfect for those of us with long legs!

Jonathan Aston 40D Opaque Tights:  The perfect way splash some colour into your look, these come in a 40 deiner weight and so give even coverage without being too heavy.  Available in around 20 shades, they have a fabulously purse friendly price so you can stock up on a rainbow of shades.  You can go for colour blocking or clashing if you prefer, but I love a matchy matchy look (and as it was spotted all over the AW14 catwalks there’s now nothing to stop me!)

LauraWolfordNahlaWolford Nahla Tights: The ONLY way to do lace, I absolutely love these classic lace tights (pictured left).  With a fine net and floral lacy motif, these will instantly inject a little va va voom into your look.

Charnos Diamond Stripe Tights: Just as classic and elegant, these diamond patterned tights feature a flattering vertical design – diamonds are a girl’s best friend, after all, and the pattern will never go out of style.

Falke Shelina Tights: The best bare leg look sheer on the market.  The skintone shades have been developed with dermatologists to ensure a completely natural look on the leg (I have friends that cannot believe I’m wearing tights when I wear these with strappy sandals), while their super fine, light as air feel on the leg belies their 12 denier strength.  These are my can’t-live-without product and always, ALWAYS my go-to sheers.

Spanx Active Bottoms Shaping Compression Close Fit Pant: I’m not really a fan of footless styles and I don’t often wear shapewear, but I’m more than happy to break all my rules when it comes to these amazing shapewear leggings.  These keep everything tucked in during spin class and deliver a medium shaping control, making going to the gym a joy and eliminating the fear of bumping into someone I know on the way back!

Lauraoroblusensual30moccaOroblu Sensuel 30 Tights: When the weather is changing its mind every 2 minutes in typical British fashion, I need something that will give me a little coverage and warmth without making me overheat if the sunshine does make an appearance.  The perfect trans-seasonal staple, the semi opaque 30 denier weight and super silky feel of these (pictured right in Mocca) has made them the ideal candidate for those in between days.  Plus, they come in loads of shades so you can go for a chic black or grey for the office, or opt instead for one of the skintone shades for an airbrushing effect for your legs!

Aristoc Ultra Shine 10D Tights: For sheers with a sleek, shiny finish, I can completely understand why customers flock towards the Aristoc Ultra Shine range.  The tights give a gorgeously glossy, polished look to the leg and come in several flattering shades, making them ideal for evening and special occasions.

Pantherella Dorothy Fairisle Socks: I just LOVE the super soft, utterly luxurious feel of Pantherella Socks, and these have a gorgeous fairisle design that comes in 4 colours and a super soft construction made up of 85% cashmere – the perfect gift for someone special (I recommend buying two pairs as once you feel them you’re bound to want to keep a pair for yourself).

I hope you all love my favourites as much as I do.  Never mind happy birthday – happy shopping, ladies!

Until next week…

Laura’s Choice: Lovely in Lace

pamela-mann-linked-leaf-lace-tightsFrom its origins in the early sixteenth century to the SS14 catwalks, there’s no denying the enduring power of lace.  Perfect for adding a little pizazz to tired pencil skirts and boring jersey dresses alike, take a look at my top lace tights from the MyTights collection and transform your wardrobe in just a few clicks…

Classic

Classic lace styles are ideal if you want something subtle for the office or a versatile look that’ll work for both day and night. The Charnos Scroll Net Tights feature a vertical zig zag scroll design on a netted construction, and will look as at home with a shift dress and pumps for work as they do with flat knee high boots and a jumper dress for a more casual weekend look.  Or for something a little girlier, the Pamela Mann Linked Leaf Lace Tights have a gorgeous leaf pattern woven into the fishnet base – perfect for teaming with a one shoulder or wrap dress for an indulgent Grecian style.

sweet-roses-ankletTrend

Catwalk queens that want something on trend and fabulous, sit up and take note – lace was one of the most tweeted terms during fashion week.  Designers including Burberry, Peter Pilotto and Meadham Kirchoff all paid homage to the fabric, with particular emphasis on coloured lace and feminine silhouettes.  The Pamela Mann Baroque Tulle Tights feature a lacy baroque floral design on a micronet base, and come in three shades (classic black, pink and violet).  Make like the catwalks at Jean Paul Gaultier and team with a frilled patterned dress for clash points, or if you’re not quite bold enough go for a soft chiffon dress in complementary pastel shades.  Ankle socks are also set to be a big trend for the third consecutive spring season, so why not kill two birds with one stone in the Jonathan Aston Sweet Roses Lace Anklets, which come in black and ivory shades?  Team with sweet peter pan collar dresses, à la Orla Kiely, or toughen up with leather as seen at the Jean Paul Gaultier show.

LauraWolfordNahla

Luxury

If you’re the type of lady that likes the finer things in life, I can’t recommend the Wolford Nahla Tights highly enough.  The perfect option if you’re looking for luxury lace to go with an evening cocktail dress, they have a swirling design on a net base, as well as all the design trimmings we’ve come to expect from the high end brand.  I team these with a plain colour pop dress and statement necklace to balance the intricate detailing.  The Jonathan Aston Alaska Tights are ideal for frosty winter mornings – though not strictly lace, these have made the list thanks to their cosy 80% Merino wool content and crochet design, which will give the effect of lace with all the warmth of wool.

Retro

Meanwhile, vintage vixens should know that lace is a retro wardrobe staple.  The Jonathan Aston Sweet Roses Tights are perfect for that old school look – with a vintage style back seam created from the cut and sew design, these lacy lovelies boast an intricate rose design and come in black or ivory (the ivory is perfect if you’re after something special for your wedding day).  And fans of hold ups need not fret – the Trasparenze Holiday Hold Ups feature a sensational floral design that trails all over the fine mesh base.

sweet-roses-lace-tights_2Plus Size

Were you created with curves?  Worry not – voluptuous ladies are of course catered for at MyTights.com, and that’s no exception when it comes to lace lovelies.  The Pamela Mann Plus Size Paisley Net are gorgeously flattering for your curves and are available up to a UK size 32.  What’s more, their sister product, the Pamela Mann Paisley Net Tights come in the regular Pamela Mann “one size” – which fits UK sizes 8-14 – so no one gets left out.

Whether it’s a new office look or a budget busting LBD update, an elegant luncheon  accessory or a vampish evening look you’re after, the versatility of lace hosiery means you can get a look that’s timeless AND on trend! So get shopping – you’re just a lashing of lace away from a sensational new look.

Until next week…

Cable Knit

Let’s face it, in Blighty spring may be a delightfully fresh season – but it isn’t guaranteed to be warm! Cable knits spice up that office look, all the while keeping you toasty and snug. The Pretty Polly Chevron Cable Tights feature a sumptuous pattern that elongates and flatters your pins.

Red

Pale pastels may be all the rage but raunchy red still packs a punch. For a glam and sultry look there’s nothing like a splash of cheeky crimson so turn up the va va voom factor with Trasparenze Strip Panty 20D Suspender Tights. For even the busiest of ladies, this gorgeous pair combines the allure of suspenders with the convenience of tights, and they’re available in a sexy scarlet shade perfect for this season.

So here’s to you, Mrs. Middleton…

carole-middleton-patterned-tights-zoomFashion ?controversies? never cease to amaze us ? first of all it was Kate Middleton?s nude tights, now her mum Carole has been making waves with her own legwear.? Stepping out in Chelsea yesterday in a chic black ensemble, Mrs. Middleton teamed a double breasted black coat with lacey patterned tights.

The world immediately declared themselves shocked at her (and I quote) ?awful? choice of hosiery.? Erm? really?? Many have criticised her for dressing too young, because her hemline was ? shock horror ? about three inches above the knee.

What?s all the fuss about?? It?s not like she?s parading round in a minidress and fishnet stockings (though Madonna, 55, frequently does) ? it?s a pretty standard outfit in our opinion ? not quite Lady Gaga.? In fact here at MyTights HQ we think she looks sensational!? The look was elegant and pulled together, with nothing revealing or trashy ? in fact it was so conservative it might even have bordered on boring, were it not for the fabulous lace tights covering her (amazing!) legs.

Too old?? You?re never too old for fashion.? In fact she reminds us a little of national treasure Dame Helen Mirren, who at 68 doesn?t let her age stop he from wearing fabulous frocks and bikinis without a care ? and in our opinion Mrs.Middleton looks just as great as The Queen actress always does.? And if we look half as good as Carole does when we?re her age, we?ll be more than happy.? So we say bah humbug to all the haters ? we heart Carole?s style!

There are loads of fashion styles you can rock that are perfectly subtle enough to work with even a conservative dresser ? here are our top picks for getting Carole?s look?

TREND: Extravagence

I?ve often wondered what it is that draws humans (particularly girls and, more specifically, me) to all things shiny (in case you were interested, it?s a genetics thing, as our ancient ancestors learnt that glitter often meant fresh drinking water).? I?ve long had a magpie like tendency to anything shiny or sparkly and thankfully fashion now agrees with me, meaning I can stop shopping at Claire?s Accessories for a bling fix and gravitate towards a more grown up kind of glitz.

It probably won?t surprise you that my first stop in my quest for extravagance was in the world of hosiery ? where I quickly realised I was spoilt for choice!? This season, glitz and glamour are the order du jour, and all you need to add is your trusty LBD and a little bling for a showstopping Autumn/Winter look.
