GET THE LOOK: Selena Gomez in White Leggings

Selena Gomez

Selena Gomez

Why is that that everyone famous has a knack of being BFF’s? Our jealously aside, this week we were treated to snaps of popstar of the moment Taylor Swift stepping out Stateside with none other than Selena Gomez. Taylor certainly caught the media’s attention, wearing tiny denim hotpants with a rather contentious looking leather harness (what?!), a far cry from her usual ladylike style. But our eyes were firmly on Selena however, who showed us all just how versatile footless styles can be in the summer months. The 22 year old has certainly made some bad choices in the past, namely Justin Bieber, however she ticked all the style boxes here, by teaming her tired-up denim shirt and plimsoles with gorgeous white leggings. The perfect way to pull off a relaxed daytime vibe, it just so happens we have the perfect way to copy her look… of course we do!

Trasparenze Dorella Leggings

Trasparenze Dorella Leggings

Available in a plethora of other colours as well as white, the Trasparenze Dorella Leggings are a must-have for any wardrobe, and you’ll no doubt turn to them time and again now the weather’s warming up. Made in a 70 denier for solid colour and reliable coverage, the leggings finish just above the ankle for a chic cropped look. Perfect for wearing with denim shirts, longline tees or tunics, finish off the look with a pair of summery sandals. Or if you’re after a bargain, try out the Pamela Mann 3D Footless Tights. Slighly thinner at a 50D, these are the perfect way to update your look at a fraction of the price!

Trasparenze Dorella Leggings

Trasparenze Dorella Leggings

Leggings will always hold a special place in our hearts; they’re comfortable, warm, and versatile with every weather. But with so many different styles on offer, from neon pink through to the funkiest of patterns, you might wonder if this fashion staple is better suited to younger women? Need your very own style guru? Here’s our round-up of leggings for the more mature woman…

Back to the basics

Every woman needs a pair of black leggings in her wardrobe – they’re practically irreplaceable. Warm in the winter and cool in the summer, they can work with virtually any outfit, making them the ultimate must-have. For a particularly great pair, Italian brand Trasparenze have given us the Dorella Leggings. 100% opaque, of the highest quality and available in a plethora of colours as well as black, we don’t know how we’d navigate our style without them. That’s right, ladies – patterns. Patterns are a brilliant way to update your look on a budget. To nail the patterns trend, opt for muted prints and classic designs like lace and net. The Oroblu Sherry Leggings are a fabulous choice, with their 30 denier tulle base and array of elegant florals. With the option between black and navy blue, these leggings are eye-catching, chic, and will work from day to night. What could be better?

Denim

Denim leggings, or ‘jeggings,’ are a great alternative to skinny jeans as they provide a denim-look without adding any bulk on your legs. Not only offering a timeless look, the Spanx Super Skinny Denim Leggings have taken advantage of double layer shaping to eradicate your body insecurities, all the while appearing like regular skinny jeans. Baby Bump Hosiery: Our Picks!

Hilaria Baldwin & Fearne Cotton

Hilaria Baldwin & Fearne Cotton

Being pregnant isn’t always much fun. As well as the aches, the pains and sleepless nights, it also means you may no longer be able to fit into your favourite hosiery. But, as a number of expecting celebs have been showing us recently, being pregnant doesn’t mean you have to sacrifice on style. With MyTights dedicated to sourcing hosiery to suit every size and shape (bumps included), we have a fabulous selection of maternity hosiery for you to choose from. Showing us how it’s done, Radio 1 presenter, Fearne Cotton, and Alec Baldwin’s wife, Hilaria have both been spotted in maternity opaques in the past week. Gracefully covering her baby bump, Fearne was wearing a long plaid frock paired and sensible flats flats, whilst Hilaria was spotted with her husband and daughter wearing a black coat, black leggings, and boots – finished off with a bright scarf for a pop of colour. It’s obvious that these two ladies are blossoming beautifully – not just in their pregnancy but with their style choices to boot.

Trasparenze Perdue 70D Maternity Tights

Trasparenze Perdue 70D Maternity Tights

MyTights knows that finding maternity clothes that don’t make you look frumpy is difficult, but the Trasparenze Perdue 70D Maternity Tights buck the trend. At 70 denier, these opaque tights are perfect to wear if you’re carrying across the colder months. With the current unpredictable weather, these tights are a go-to pair to wear to work or simply for just a stroll around town. We know that comfort is the top priority when looking for maternity clothes so this style is made with a flat seam and stretchy Lycra fiber that grows with your bump. Even better, the reinforced toe and heel means that these will last you your entire maternity period…and maybe your next! Trasparenze 20D Maternity TightsSince the warmer summer months are looming (fingers crossed), why not stock up on a few sheer maternity tights as well? At only £11.00, the Trasparenze 20D Maternity Tights are a steal. Like the 70D style, these are designed to accommodate your growing tummy and support your bump without harming your little sprog. These are also made with a reinforced heel and toe to add extra durability so you’ll never have to worry laddered tights because let’s face it, you have enough on your plate already! With a slight sheen and the choice of two colours, these are the perfect way to an elegant expectant look!

Spanx Power Mama

Spanx Power Mama

Spanx have always been one of our favourite brands, but never more so than when we laid eyes on the Spanx Power Mama Tights. Faux Pas Alert! Kim K in See-Through Leggings

Kim Kardashian (see-through)

CRINGE!

When it comes to listing our top hosiery faux pas, see-through leggings always manage to find their way towards the top of the list. Not always known for her excellent fashion choices, this week it was Kim Kardashian who fell foul of the style no-no, wearing a particularly unforgiving pair of transparent leggings during a Paris workout. Sure, the glare of the camera flash undoubtedly made her leggings appear sheerer than they actually were, but you’d think if you were a member of the world-famous Kardashian clan, that this would enter your mind before facing the prying eyes of the press! Whether a PR stunt or not, her choice of outfit left very little to the imagination, and certainly doesn’t rank amongst her finest sartorial choices. To make sure you never commit such a heinous fashion crime, we’ve rounded up our collection of gorgeous leggings for every occasion.

Best for: Everyday wear

Anyone who’s worn leggings will know just how versatile they can be. Whether with dresses, tunics or longline tees, it pays to always have a quality pair to hand, and we’ve got just the thing with the Trasparenze Honeymoon Leggings.  Made in a matte finish and available in three classic colours, they’re also completely opaque, so there’s no chance of ‘doing a Kim.’

Best for: Patterns & Prints

Oroblu Bouquet Leggings

Oroblu Bouquet Leggings

Especially for the fashionistas, printed leggings are a must-have for the spring/summer seasons. From florals to geometrics, they’re everywhere at the moment, but our favourite pair has to be the Oroblu Bouquet Leggings. We were taken by these as soon as we spotted them arrive a few weeks back, and it’s clear to see why with their elegant floral print and generous stretch.

Best for: High Shine

Hands down one of the biggest trends at the moment, no leggings feature would be complete without high shine. They may not exactly be purse-friendly, but we’re of the opinion that sometimes it’s worth splashing the cash for something extra special, and that’s exactly what you get with the Wolford Estella Leggings. With a gorgeous leather look finish and quilted seam on the knee, wowing your friends is a given!

Spanx Super Skinny Denim Leggings

Spanx Super Skinny Denim Leggings

Best for: Extra Benefits

Nowadays, leggings can do more than just look great, and it’s possible for a simple pair of leggings to trim your figure and tone your problem zones! Who’d have thought it? We couldn’t decide on a favourite for this section, so we compromised with a tie between two brilliant styles, the first of which are the Spanx Faux Leather Leggings. Brand new to MyTights, these vampy leggings will streamline your tummy, thighs and hips, all the while giving you a rock chick look with their high shine finish. Or for the appearance of classic denim, a pair of the Spanx Super Skinny Denim Leggings are a must. Appearing like denim jeans but with the stretch of a legging, your figure will appear perfectly contoured 24/7.

Best for: Colour

Completing our fabulous five are the Trasparenze Dorella Footless Leggings. Dark colours are all well and good, but when the sun’s out, we love to experiment with jazzy shades to brighten our look. With ten colours on offer, these 70 denier leggings offer 100% coverage are perfect for updating your spring look. Our favourites are the vibrant shades of Ottanio and Bordo!

Laura’s Choice: Street Style

It’s official: the whole world is wearing hosiery! From high-profile celebrities through to normal folk on the street, I’ve noticed a huge surge in the number of people accessorising their outfits with tights, leggings and socks in recent months. And if the recent catwalk shows are anything to go by, the hosiery takeover doesn’t look like it’s going to end anytime soon. In fact, they were so popular on the runway that every single model at Diane von Furstenberg’s New York show wore a pair of gorgeous spotty sheers. If that isn’t evidence enough, then I don’t know what is! It’s no secret that the people of London are a seriously stylish bunch, so we took the opportunity to mark the hosiery domination, taking to the streets this week to see what the Great British public have been wearing on their legs. And you certainly didn’t disappoint. Here’s our round up of our favourite street style looks and how you can recreate them at the drop of a hat…

Taking it back to basics: the classic opaque

???????????????????????????????

Aristoc 50D Opaque Tights

Aristoc 50D Opaque Tights

Bold patterns and prints are all well and good, but if your outfit itself is rather busy, only a pair of classic opaques will do. We spotted this lovely lady at Victoria Rail Station, accessorising a stripy cropped tee, denim skirt and black boots with her trusty black opaque tights. Showing us all just how versatile your basics can be, you can recreate the look with the Aristoc 50D Opaque Tights, which are a great middle ground between everyday value and quality manufacture. Just £9 a pair but with enough quality to warrant a much higher price tag in my opinion, they’re also made in a 30D version for when the sun has his hat on. Or if you’re in the market for something a little more high-end, my favourite opaques are the Falke Seidenglatt 70 Tights, with a gorgeous glossy finish and choice of 4 colours. Highly recommended!

Fashionista? Say it with patterned leggings

???????????????????????????????

If you’re the kind of person who likes to stand out and grab the style crown with both hands, patterned leggings should be your port of call. Ideal for jazzing up an otherwise basic outfit, they’re comfortable, flattering and most importantly, enjoying a real fashion moment of late. Feeling inspired? So were this fashion-forward twosome. Beginning with the geometric pair below, our eyes were immediately drawn to her quirky monochrome legwear, which she teamed with a distressed leather jacket and statement tee. If you’re a fan of this effortlessly stylish look, mirror her ensemble in the Oroblu Butterfly Leggings, with their unusual butterfly print and mix of eye-catching colours.

???????????????????????????????

From one great pair of leggings to another, any budding rock chicks should take note of the vampy ensemble above. Pairing an oversized black tee with burgundy boots, our favourite part of her look was without doubt her shiny paint splattered leggings.  What do you think? If you’re as taken by her legwear as us, copy the trend with the Pamela Mann Leather Look Leggings, with their maximum impact mock leather finish befitting of Kate Moss herself. Or to add a splash of colour to an all black outfit, the Trasparenze Graphium Leggings are just the ticket, boasting a pretty paisley print and choice of two colour combinations.

Bored of your sheers? Nets are the answer

The title for #1 legwear look that we came across on our travels has to go to the gorgeous net tights sported by the lovely lady below. I’ve always been a huge fan of net tights, a) because they’re so incredibly versatile (I layer mine over sheers to make them work all year round) and b) because they’re just so much more interesting than plain styles. Teaming her floral patterned nets with a summery dress and lace up boots, this look was the perfect way to welcome in all the glorious sunshine we’ve been enjoying of late. Luckily, we have just the pair on hand to recreate this style in the form of the Oroblu Elaine Tights, made from a fine tulle base and being covered in elegant floral motifs that ascend up the leg. Or for something a little quirkier, treat yourself to the Jonathan Aston Oxygen Tights, with an unusual net design reminiscent of the art-deco period.

Laura’s Choice: Top Patterned Picks!

Oroblu Bouquet Leggings

Oroblu Bouquet Leggings

Apparently, us women wear just 20% of our wardrobe 80% of the time, and as much as it pains me to say it, I have to admit that I’m no exception. While there’s nothing wrong with having a capsule collection, it’s a real shame that that dress we simply HAD to have during an impromptu splurge will never see the light of day. One of the main reasons for our clothes languishing in our wardrobe is not knowing how to make them pop, particularly with plainer styles. Sure, they might look rather boring on the hanger, but working amongst hosiery 24/7 has taught me exactly how to make plainer styles work. The answer? Patterns. From head-turning geometrics to delicate florals, there’s no better way to rack up the style points, and my round-up of my favourite prints below means that nobody has to miss out.

FLORALS

Why florals?: delicate and understated, florals are perennially chic and add a feminine twist for any occasion.

Fashions have a habit of coming and going, but florals have dug their heels into the ground and stubbornly stayed put. If you’re looking for a classic floral print, take a look at the Charnos Opaque Flower Tights. Made in a semi-opaque 40 denier (ideal for this time of year, FYI), the mix of roses and leaves, can be dressed up or down, while the inclusion of a sheer toe adds the versatility factor. If something a little bit quirky is on your radar, cast your eyes over the Jonathan Aston Spontaneity Tights, reinventing the trend for seams with a vibrant pink floral seam stretching along the outside leg. Completing my floral trio are the Oroblu Bouquet Leggings, brand new to MyTights and doing exactly what they say on the tin (well, packet). Stretchy leggings covered in an array of colourful flowers, opt for these if you’re after stand out appeal that will from AM to PM.

Jonathan Aston Magma Tights

Jonathan Aston Magma Tights

GEOMETRICS

Why geometrics?: life is taken too seriously, so why not mix things up a bit with some edgy geometrics, which just so happen to be having something of a fashion moment…

You may not have worn geometrics before, and understandably so. After all, they’re a far cry from your classic black opaques, but there really is nothing more effective for jazzing up your basics and making things look as good as new. My favourites are the Jonathan Aston Magma Tights, which have a swarm of rectangles and opaque motifs randomly scattered across a 10 denier leg. They’re fun, quirky and entirely affordable, what’s not to love? To really take things up a notch, the particularly fashion-forward amongst us might want to take a look at the Wolford Stella Tights. These very tights featured in the Mario Dice collection at Milan Fashion Week, and it’s simple to see why they made the cut, with a striking graphic design on the outside leg, not to mention the mock hold up band. Not wanting to limit the geometric trend to just tights, your feet can join in on the action too with the Charnos 3PP Geometric Trainer Liners. One stripe, one check and one chevron – three times the style!

SPOTS

Charnos Geo Spot Tights

Charnos Geo Spot Tights

Why spots?: offering a sweet style for day or night, you’ll also be in the sartorial company of the likes of Anne Hathaway and woman of the moment Taylor Swift.

Spots are always near the front of my hosiery drawer. I love how they can transform even the simplest of dresses , without being too busy to mean they’re limited to more informal events. First things first, I’d like to introduce you to the Oroblu Adelle Tights, a classic pair of polkadot tights that I find myself turning to on a weekly basis. Proving that sometimes less can be more, the dainty dots and sheer base are great for transitioning from the office to the bar. If simple isn’t for you, step into high-fashion territory with the Wolford Leonie Tights. Recognisably Wolford, what you get here is a fashion-forward pair of sheers with larger than life polkadots which get gradually smaller as they ascend up the leg. Great for taking your basics out of a style rut! Mixing two patterns in one, my final pick is the Charnos Geo Spot Tights, which have all the credentials of polkadot tights but with a subtle diamond print that sits pretty in the background.

Give that other 80% a chance; patterns are all you need to boost your wardrobe and add a new dimension to the simplest of styles.

Until next time…

Oroblu SS15: The Best Of!

Oroblu Bouquet Leggings

Oroblu Bouquet Leggings

Each and every one of the brands we stock at MyTights.com are unique in their own way, so we’re always intrigued to see how our brands translate the catwalk trends into their new collections. One brand that never let us down is Oroblu, and it just so happens that we recently received a long-awaited delivery of their SS15 collection!

As we’re sure you eagle-eyed hosiery fans have noticed, the new range launched on the website across the last couple of days, and you’re in for a real treat. Oroblu are brilliant at taking a classic style and putting their own spin on it, creating fashion-forward hosiery that’s always a cut above the rest, which is instantly clear from the new range. And with leggings, socks, hold ups and tights in the mix, every single one of our lovely customers can enjoy some sophisticated Italian styling this summer. Here are our top picks:

1) Oroblu Bouquet Leggings  - as fashions come and go, some have a real knack of staying around. One such fashion is floral, and these leggings offer them in abundance. Ascending up the leg, the mix of pretty petals and leaves are great for adding some femininity and glamour into an otherwise casual look. Ideal for jazzing up your longline tees or equally forming part of your party look, we have a feeling we’ll be wearing these A LOT across the coming months.

Oroblu April Tights

Oroblu April Tights

2) Oroblu April Tightsfishnets are undergoing something of a style revolution of late – they just seem to be everywhere! No complaints from us, but for a particularly fashionable pair, these classic net tights are joined by a gorgeous side seam with an unusual tricot effect. MyTights founder Laura is a big fan!

3) Oroblu Luna Footprotectors these gorgeous foot liners epitomise Oroblu to a tee. Taking something as standard as a footprotector and making it into a high-end fashion accessory, the mix of net, floral lace and scallop edge make these a must-have in our eyes.

oroblu-candice-pants

Oroblu Candice Long Pants

4) Oroblu Addison Tights a trick we always stick to is layering some sheers beneath fishnet tights to stay current and on-trend without compromising on warmth. Killing two birds with one stone, these brilliant fashion tights have an interlinking diamond pattern against an elegant sheer base, creating the illusion of nets and giving us all a new essential.

5) Oroblu Candice Long Pants finishing with something a little different, these fitted pants give the look of cropped trousers, but with the stretch and comfort as leggings. Sounds like the perfect marriage in our eyes!
