ELLE Magazine Front Cover – September 2010
We knew that lace was back in style BIG TIME, from Edwardiana to the Gypsy Goth look, it’s been sneaking in everywhere. And we also knew that lace tights have been spotted on all the hottest trend-setters, from rock chic’s Peaches Geldoff, Taylor Momsen and Katy Perry, to the polished Olivia Palermo, Leighton Meester and Taylor Swift, and the uber-foxy Megan Fox, but then we saw this…
…Emily Blunt, when did you get so raunchy? The Devil Wears Prada star is just oozing sex appeal in this sensuous chiffon and lace combo. Looking like some sort of naughty Victorian courtesan, Blunt pulls this look off with effortless charm. Elle’s use of more mature contrasting colours, such as nude and black, has ensured that this outfit says both sexy and on-trend, rather than becoming trashy.
So, tossing the beautiful Ms Blunt aside for one second, the real star of the show is of course – drum roll please – Jonathan Aston’s Sweet Roses lace tights, as pictured this September cover of Elle Magazine. With their cut rose-inspired patterning they are elegant, individual, and above all oh-so feminine. Take a look at the whole of Jonathan Aston’s Vintage collection for lace hold ups and ankle socks too!
What’s so good about lace? I hear you cry. Well as much as your relationship with lace thus-far may have only gone as far as admiring your Grandma’s doilies’, or with the fussy bits on your bra – lace is actually a style classic. It’s a timeless way to add some delicate, and pretty charm to an outfit. But let’s not go mental, if you dress yourself in head-to-toe lace you will look like a cake.
Our tip for pulling this look off? JUST ADD A TOUCH, a pair of lovely lace tights with a little black dress is great, show a scandalous amount of leg while retaining your full dignity – perfect!
