It’s that time of year where tuxedos and party dresses don’t look out of place on a Tuesday evening on the tube; it can be only be the party season! And the parties really do come thick and fast in the next few weeks, be it a work gathering, Christmas drinks with the girls, not forgetting the biggest night of them all – New Years Eve. With a social calendar that busy, most of us don’t have the time (or budget) to buy a brand new outfit for each event. But fret not – hosiery is a fantastic and inexpensive way of revamping and adding a new dimension to a wardrobe classic. With this in mind, I thought it would be a great idea if I rounded up a selection of my favourite party tights for your upcoming soirees!

I think there’s a misconception that creating a statement legwear look has to cost a fortune, but this really isn’t the case. A top recommendation of mine for achieving stand-out style on a budget is the Pamela Mann 50 Denier Tights. Available in an incredible 21 shades, it’s near on impossible not to find a pair to complement your outfit. What’s more, with their flattering matte finish and sheer to waist brief, they offer a great deal of versatility for your party wardrobe, looking fabulous regardless of whether you favour a flirty mini or a fitted knee-length number. My favourites are the dark teal and rust – perfect with a classic LBD! Should you want legwear to give your look a racy twist, you really can’t go wrong with the Jonathan Aston Fishnet Tights. Fishnet tights are a fantastic way of adding a sexy element to an outfit, whilst still retaining an elegant edge, and these ones have a timeless chic design that will work seamlessly with cocktail dresses. Why not also add a vibrant pair of heels for a pop of colour? Even better, they’re just £6 a pair, leaving you with change for a glass of vino or two.
Legwear for your work party
It’s often tricky to find the right mix between looking great and maintaining professionalism for work events. You want to feel confident and channel an on-trend look, but at the same time you want to dress appropriately for the context – it can be a nightmare! For me, the Oroblu Delices Tights are the perfect combination between chic and professional, featuring an overlapping diamond design and sheer panels that work together to create a visual effect that’s nothing short of stunning. The key with these is to let your legwear do all of the talking, so opt for a pair of simple heeled sandals and an A-line dress and you’re set! Or if your work party is a little more glitzy, look in the direction of the Trasparenze Deejay Tights, which have an all-over

glittery fleck against an opaque black backdrop. Guaranteed to satisfy your inner magpie, you’re also able to choose between gold and silver glitter to match your accessories to a tee. Following on with the sparkly theme (why not?), another option is the Charnos Lurex Spot Opaque Tights, with an array of symmetrical glittery dots and 40 denier matte finish. Allowing you to channel two of this season’s hottest trends – polkadots and embellishment, in one outfit, the shine with these is actually rather subtle, so they’re also a great versatile choice for dinners and drinks with the girls.
New Years Eve
December 31st is that one night a year where it’s a crime to be curled up in front of the television in your pyjamas. The biggest social night of the year warrants some fabulous tights, right? Right. So say hello to 2015 in style in the Pretty Polly Delightful Pretty Flirty Backseam Tights, which have a slender backseam and exquisite lace effect panty and heel for the ultimate in special occasion legwear. Full of personality and sex appeal; go for all out glamour in a sequined mini and statement heels! Or if you love the retro look of backseams but crave even more glamour, I love the Moulin Rouge Metallic Seam Tights, with their embellished backseam and chic Cuban heel. Even better, they won’t break the bank, so there’s no need to feel guilty! If these are up your street, you’ll also love the Trasparenze Melantis Tights, which are just made for glitzy evening events. Starting at the mid thigh, these sheer tights have a gorgeous metallic backseam, made up of an array of tiny diamantes and merging into a pretty floral effect at the ankle. A real lesson in opulence! If seams aren’t your thing, I’d also like to point you in the direction of the Jonathan Aston Sweet Roses Lace Tights, with an intricate floral lace design for a classic legwear look that screams elegance and sophistication. A real lesson in opulence!
Tights for the kids
Pex sparkle tights
It’s not only us adults who feel the pressure to look good at this time of year! Your little ones are also bound to have a packed social calendar, and let’s face it, Christmas school discos ARE a big deal at that age. To avoid any unwanted tantrums, opt for the Country Kids Movie Star Tights, with a lurex star pattern that your daughter will just love. They’re also extra durable, with a reinforced toe and boxer brief, so you can rest assured that they’ll last for next year’s event, too! If she takes after her mummy, she’ll also be a sucker for a bit of sparkle. With this in mind, the Pex Sparkle Children’s Tights may be just the ticket for parties and end of term shindigs, with their metallic thread and super-shiny finish!
