HOW TO WEAR PATTERNED TIGHTS

Summer is over, and unfortunately we all have to resign ourselves to the fact that England doesn’t quite stay warm forever. But we always have an answer to everything, right?

This season shows us that we don’t need to cover up completely, as patterned tights invaded the AW14 runways.

Vivienne Westwood led the pack in the AW14 patterned tights collection, with her diverse range of tartan-check hosiery and eccentric triangle print tights. Want to upgrade your wardrobe this autumn? We have some purse-friendly options to help you stay in style without breaking the bank!

Tartan

So AW13 saw the return of the tartan print thanks to Karl Lagerfield, with brands such as Valentino and Gucci quickly following suit to add plaid to their collections. Immensely popular, it makes a return for 2014 and this year experiments with geometric op art checks and autumnal colours, along with the classic red print.

Bold shapes

Vivienne never fails to disappoint and this year, Westwood showed us how it’s done when they paired shapes with bold block coloured suits and leather. Why not try stepping outside the box and becoming a shape shifter this autumn?

Dots

Cheryl Fernandez-Versini (she will always be Cole to us, too!) was recently papped wearing a pair of spotted hosiery teamed with a black and gold mini dress, giving off a cute but stylish look. The spotty trend is back in, and with the sheen of the tights makes it so easy to dress them up or down whatever the occasion. If you wear a pair of skin coloured opaques underneath these styles, you’ll be sure to stay warm during the winter months, too!

World Cup Legwear!

Have you heard? The World Cup began last week in Brazil, and even though we would rather be on a beach in Rio de Janeiro, we’ll just have to make do and show off our English pride from the homeland.  In addition to any face paint you may feel the need to apply, make sure to show your support with a selection of legwear we have chosen to complete your football ensemble.

If you’re feeling especially supportive of the hosting country, try the Trasparenze Gennifer Merino Wool Tights in Bosco.  Your forest green legs will let everyone know you’re ready for kick-off and the dark colour is easy to style.  If you want a lighter weight tight, try Pamela Mann’s 50 Denier Tights in Forest Green.  For the brighter side of things, try them in Mustard and pair with a light coloured dress.

If you want a look that mirrors those of the men on the field, try our Trasparenze Cinzia Knee High Socks in Olivia. These knee high socks will add a fun and youthful look to your outfit and keep in spirit with the World Cup.  Wear them with flats or heeled booties and you’re ready to take on your day, football style.

If you’re feeling more English than Brazilian, we’ve got you covered.  The Falke Cotton Touch Short Socks in Cherry Red will bring just enough to spirit and colour to your outfit to show you’re a fan yet still be fashion forward. For a bolder look, try Pamela Mann’s 80 Denier Tights in Flo Red and show your support of the England National Team.

Whether you’re truly interested in the sport or just the fashion inspired by it, be sure to check out MyTights.com and score big.

Product Pamela Mann Fishnet Tights
Range N/A
Colour Chocolate
Size One size (I’m a size 10 in trousers)
Price £5.00
Colour Comments (if applicable) N/A
Appearance comments They look very small when you first put them on, but the material is extremely stretchy. You just have to keep pulling (carefully!)
Appearance Score 9/10
Feel comments The textured structure of these net tights feels great to the touch. Considering that I had to wriggle into them, I’m impressed that even after my evening chocolate binge, the flat waistband still felt really comfortable. Clearly these tights won’t give you as much protection from the elements as fleecy opaqees, but they still felt pretty warm even though I wore them on a very cold winter’s day.
Feel out of ten 10/10
Fit comments The tights were a touch on the small side but net tights do allow for more flexibility so it wasn’t a problem.
Fit out of ten 7/10
Value for Money Comments As with many nets, these fishnets are strong enough to wear again and again so you’ll definitely get a lot of wear out of them.
Value for Money out of ten 8/10
So, Does it Work? N/A

The Financial Times Loves MyTights

vertical-sheer-stripe-tights

Smashing the myth that an LBD is always the safe option, the Financial Times recently conducted a photo shoot with their models sporting high fashion black dresses with a selection of tights from Pamela Mann.

Even if the Moschino Cheap and Chic silk/polyester dress at ?695 is slightly out of your reach (more chic than cheap we?re thinking), fortunately the tights included in the feature come at a more reasonable price. To copy this look you can get our Moulin Rouge Palloni Tights, their reverse-spot style turns the classic polka dot look on its head.

Made from 40/20 denier these tights will keep you warm when you venture outside ? I recommend teaming with a polka dot dress in black with white spots and black patent heels for a co-ordinated look. The reinforced toe means that even if your makeup needs a touch up, your legs won?t ? thanks to the added durability you can dance the night away without a care! Fancy making a statement in the office? Team these striking sheers with a pencil skirt and white blouse for a dramatic yet elegant ensemble.

software design

The Chanel silk-organza dress featuring on trend appliqu? flowers was matched with our Pamela Mann Solid Sheer Stripe Tights ? the perfect blend of girly and dramatic. Getting the look is super easy – team these sheers with a black dress with a subtle floral print. The simplistic design is perfect for a high end fashion look, and again the reinforced toe means that even as the styles change your tights will last.

Do you wear patterned tights to spice up your LBD? Or do you prefer classic sheers?

What to wear over Xmas

Christmas for me really is the most wonderful time of the year. I adore smelling the pine trees, listening to those sweet carollers, watching classic films, and of course unwrapping a new pair of luxurious tights! This magical season provides us with a multitude of options and opportunities to show off our legs and navigate the packed high street in style.

LauraCelesteSteinXmasGlittery

Christmas Eve
If you are attending a Christmas Eve event then these Starburst?tights from Jonathan Aston are sure to put a spring in your step. Made with care from a multicoloured glitter yarn, your legs are bound to attract admiring glances while you dance away to Wham and Wizard.

If you are craving a vintage look with a fun twist then why not plump for these Starstudded tights again from Jonathan Aston? These 60 denier sheers gleam as much as they sparkle. Evoking 50?s glamour with a sexy backseam made from crystals, you?ll have plenty of admirers ushering you towards the mistletoe.

Are you craving a pair of glamorous stockings without the hassle? There is no need to sacrifice any of your ?getting ready? time with these Yacht tights from Trasparenze.?Their shimmering floral garter is just divine, achieving a seductive yet refined look. Pretty shimmering polka dots created from metallic thread are both fun and elegant. Team these twinkly tights with a black lace dress for a sophisticated look. These tights would go perfectly with a festive ensemble, the sparkly polka dots doubling for falling snow.

Christmas Day

Your tree is looking marvellous, the living room is so beautifully ornate it puts Kirstie Allsopp to shame, and now the only thing left is to decorate your legs! If you are a big fan of all things festive then these Celeste Stein Christmas Glittery Ornament tights are for you.?Celeste Stein have created a beautiful design crammed with Christmas ornaments woven from a high quality metallic thread. I?m wearing these jolly tights with my bright red Boden shift dress.

However, if you would rather the baubles remained on the tree, you can still get into the Christmas spirit with a pair of deep crimson tights. Pamela Mann?s 50 Denier tights are available in a vast range of colours, including our favourite vibrant scarlet shade ? ideal for this merry season.?Not only will these opaques look fantastic, they will also give an even coverage thanks to the super smart 3D elastane fibre. I advise you to match this perky hosiery with a mid-length black leather pleated skirt, a crisp white shirt and pearls ? 3 key trends for Yuletide.

Boxing Day

It?s raining outside, the temperatures are plummeting, and therefore what could be better than relaxing in a pair of comfy, cosy woollen socks? Our Pantherella Tabitha anklet socks are so luxurious, and they are made from such sumptuous cashmere, that even your most Scrooge-like friends will be impressed.

At MyTights, all we want for Christmas is a pair of sublime Transparenze Dora Wool Over Knee Socks. Made with a generous amount of mixed wool and elastic, these socks will keep your toes toasty ? but won?t slip down as you sip on your Buck?s Fizz.?It?s just a shame that for many people this year these stunning socks will be hidden under a festive onesie. ?Match these with a tartan skirt and a white woolen jumper for Highland chic.

And last but not least? if the children haven?t quite been pampered enough this year, then do be sure to look at our Falke Kid?s catspad socks.?Fitted with anti-slip material, the little ones can run around with their new toys safely ? phew!

Have yourselves a merry little Christmas ladies!

Until next time…

Party Tights for the party season!

LBD? Tick. Vertiginous heels? Tick. Tights?…

As the party season fast approaches, it?s now the time to get that hosiery drawer in order. If you?ve any chance of keeping up with that social calendar, then outfit planning in advance is a must! No longer the afterthought, tights (and socks for those who can survive arctic temperatures) are an inexpensive and fashion forward way to add life to that weary LBD or unloved skirt. Ranging from the blingtastic to subtle shimmer, there?s a pair to complement every ensemble.

Disco DivaLurex Highball Tights

To make sure you dazzle on the dance floor, I recommend a hefty dose of glitter. Far easier to style than you may think, glitzy tights will instantly add fun to that understated outfit, and will give those everyday courts a mini-makeover. From Pamela Mann, the Lurex Highball Tights will do just that, with the extra special opaques letting you shimmer your way through the night. With a thick 80 denier appearance, the tights??positively shimmer,?courtesy of the lurex fabric used. Free from any brief, the all over glitter remains uninterrupted, leaving you free to wear any hemline that takes your fancy (ideal for those roller discos!).? If you want to show off your festive pedicure, then the footless version of these tights is a must with the Lurex Highball Footless Tights reaching ankle length.

Subtle Shimmer

If head to toe glitter isn?t your cup of tea, then why not take things down a notch with some subtle shimmer? A favourite for work parties and dinner dates, the demure look will take you from the office to the bar without the need to change in between. And given that that shimmer & shine are must have ingredients for the party season ahead, I couldn?t recommend the Starlight Tights more. From the Jonathan Aston Premium range, the 20 denier sheers have been made with a multi-coloured glitter yarn that shimmers and glitters when catching the lights. A personal favourite of mine and another addition to the Jonathan Aston range, the Starburst Tights are equally as elegant. From the knee outwards, small circular and flat discs scatter the legs of the tights, glimmering as though actual stars are decorating your tights. These look great when worn underneath a shift dress and heels, with metallic accessories providing even more glamour.

If you?re not ready to let go of your trusty black opaques, then the Lurex Spot Opaque Tights from Charnos are perfect for making the transition. Transforming the much loved polka dot print, small metallic spots appear throughout ? choose from gold or silver, both on a black opaque background. ?To dress up, step into killer heels, teaming your opaques with a brushed silk dress and an oversized glitter clutch for even more shimmer.

Queen of Quirky

For the occasions when understated just won?t suffice, may I point you in the direction of Henry Holland. Noted for his tongue in cheek style, the Alphabet Silver Tights from his Pretty Polly collaboration are the easy way to add designer cool to your outfit. The sheer 20 denier tights are decorated with sparkly silver letters that spell ?HOUSE? on one leg and ?HOLLAND? on the other. A true conversation starter if ever I had seen one, I love teaming mine with a festive red dress and heels.

The collaboration fun doesn?t stop there either, as Pretty Polly have teamed forces with designer of the moment, Joanne Hynes. Notorious for her playful use of colour and cut out shapes, the Optical Illusion Tights do not disappoint. The 60 denier opaques are decorated with a foxy glitter backseam whilst the top half of your tights is transformed with shimmering cut outs and large helping of postbox red. Coupled with a velvety soft feel and flat seams, it?s easy to see why no party outfit is complete without them!

Lovely & LuxuriousWolford Collier Tights

Given the amount of time we will spend on the dance floor, treating legs to a little luxury is imperative. Thankfully, Wolford agrees with this, and have made it easy to feel good and look great at the same time. Embracing the embellished trend in time for the festive season, the Collier Tights from the Austrian brand are a godsend. Made from a soft & smooth 60 denier, the tights boast an embellishment mock suspender design with a beautiful backseam to boot. Small silver diamante and larger silver flat discs have been carefully glued and arranged in a hanging chandelier design, with a singular row of small diamantes running down the back of your legs. If that doesn?t say luxury, I don?t know what does!

For true elegance this season, treat hosiery drawers to the Hoara Tights from Oroblu?. Delivering a 40 denier appearance, your lacy tights have been packed full of decorative delights. The overall look is a busy but beautiful one, with a mock fishnet bringing a contemporary sense to the traditional floral motifs. I love to style mine with a chic wrap dress and boots, keeping accessories to a minimum to let the tights steal the show.

Three cheers for the party season!

Until next time…

Laura

P.S Ladies, don?t forget to stock up on your emergency black opaques for when the party catches you by surprise!

Hannah

The unsung heroes of our hosiery drawer: black opaque tights. Instantly winter-proofing our summer skirts and dresses, Hannah teams her black Jonathan Aston 40D Opaque Tights with polka dots & pumps.

Nix

The easiest way to add character to your office outfit, coloured tights are a must. To keep on trend, opt for a teal like Nix or stick with burgundy & forest greens.

Suzanne

Pretty and super sweet, the Sheer Hearts Tights from Pamela Mann are great for adding a touch of romance to your look. Whilst Suzanne has worn hers to the office, we think these will look great when styled with a LBD and heels.

Nix

Boots + patterned tights = happy and stylish legs. Nix shows us that a little bit of pattern goes as long way in her Charnos Diamond Stripe Tights.?

Laura?s Choice ? Hosiery fit for a fright fest!

When it comes to the annual fright fest, all things weird & wonderful go. From the downright frightful to the more subdued, October 31st is embraced by all as the occasion to bypass inhibitions and wear whatever your heart desires. In fact, the only thing frowned upon is a last minute costume! Given that a slosh of fake blood and dab of white face powder just won?t do, I?ve rounded up the best of the bunch when it comes to Halloween hosiery…Pamela Mann Twicker Tights

write my essay paper

Wicked Witches

Whether you?ve chosen to go full on coven or you?re allowing clever accessories to work their magic, witches are a hallow-classic. To keep your attire authentic, invest in a pair of stripy tights, taking care that the stripes travel horizontal. As a rule, I believe the brighter the colour, the better. Great for neon pops, the Twicker Tights from Pamela Mann come in six different variations, ensuring that when it comes to bewitching hosiery, everything?s taken care of. For a knee-high version, try the Pamela Mann Striped Over Knee Socks. Adore the stripes but you?re not keen on that fake nose? Any character from a Tim Burton film is a surefire hit, so for the ultimate Beetlejuice tribute dress pins in Solid Sheer Striped Tights from Pamela Mann. Add a slick of black lipstick to complete the look and voila! Equal parts scary & chic!

Gothic Glam

Think less frightful and more fabulous as gothic gets a glam makeover. Anything with crosses on is a given, along with a choker necklace and translucent skin tone so reclaim that black mini dress from your wardrobe and let your tights do the talking. For a touch of grunge, Pamela Mann has given the suspender tights a makeover, adding gothic crosses to their Cross Suspender Tights. If you?re after something more delicate, then the Sheer Crosses Tights from Pamela Mann are a must! Made from a lightweight 10 denier, these feature small crosses throughout. The ultimate finishing touch to any outfit, make sure to keep your hemline flirty to reveal the macabre detail and stick to an all-black colour palette for extra spooky points. For even more warmth (it is October after all!), wear the Mary Portas & Charnos Fishnet Armery underneath any short sleeves, letting the clever design vamp up your outfit even more.Celeste Stein Skulls

Theatrical Terrors

For those who want to secure the ?best dressed? accolade this year, your costume needs to be bigger and better than ever. So stray away from the norm and instead add spook appeal to your favourite onstage character or personality. A zombie Dorothy from Wizard of Oz? A murdered member of West Side Story? Whatever your preference, add old time charm with a vintage back seam or a pair of sultry stockings.? Sassy & packed full of style, the Seam and Heel Lycra tights from Jonathan Aston will help clock up fashion kudos during the fright fest. Great at elongating legs, the retro tights will also help keep you warm when you decided to forgo the coat! For a stand out style, the Pamela Mann Jive Seamed Stockings in red look fab when worn with all black and are perfect for that Chicago tribute. Simply add towering heels and a slick of red lipstick for a glamorous touch. If a ghostly Christine from Phantom of the Opera is more your style, then lacy tights are your answer. Providing a whimsical touch underneath that ball gown, the Victorienne Tights from Wolford combine floral charm with a seductive net. What?s more, these tights can be worn to brunch the next day with a shift dress, making them quite the steal!

For those celebrating Halloween during the day, earn scary credentials by wearing the Celeste Stein Black & Grey Skull Tights underneath that black wrap dress, stepping in chunky ankle boots for a rock chick edge. Subtle but spooky, these are bound to get admiring glances…

Happy Halloween ladies!

Until next time…

Laura

Festival Hosiery ? The Good, The Bad and The Muddy!

That?s right ladies, that time of the year has arrived and it?s time to pack away those muddy wellies as the festival season leaves us for the year, taking with it hazy memories of seeing your favourite band and attempting to construct (and re-build) that tent.

Naturally, we?ve taken the opportunity to round up our favourite hosiery looks, as we comb through the endless fabulous outfits and we?ve spotted quite a few celebrities debuting their impressive legwear collection too! From Reading and Leeds to Glasto, we?ve come up our top three looks, making sure that when festival season revisits next year, you?ll have that head start.

Festival style!

To begin with, we adored the way that Jameela Jamil embraced animal print at V Festival. By teaming her jungle themed opaques with quirky accesories and a simple LBD, the Radio One presenter and model showed us all that she had her finger on the fashion pulse and we can?t wait to try it out ourselves. For an exact match that will work on and off fields, try teaming the Jonathan Aston Wild Tights with an oversized clutch, stepping into this season?s ankle boot for an edgy touch. For those craving one more print to add to their wardrobe, why not treat legs to the luxurious Mystery Leggings from Trasparenze, packed full of a sassy snakeskin print.

Next on our wish list was original Sugababe Mutya?s tribute to all things lacy. Equal parts charming and chic, the style savvy singer made sure to readdress the girly vs grungy balance, teaming her black lace tights with an oversized baseball jersey and lace up boots.? Just as dramatic and even more luxurious are the Wolford Victorienne Tights, which feature an elaborate floral design that runs throughout the open net fabric. However, if you?re after a softer and more subtle look that you can wear to the office, we suggest the Scroll Net Tights from Charnos. Decadent and dashing, the fancy scroll detail will never overwhelm outfits (perfect for those weary of pattern) and will look gorgeous when styled with a simple shift dress and quilted pumps.

And last but by no means least, Louise from London based reality show Made In Chelsea has shown us all that socks are still very much an essential for any happy camper, showing us that no wellington boot is complete without a cosy and chic pair! Opting for a classic, goes-with-everything black over knee pair, the pint sized socialiate collected fashion brownie points, customising hers with gold studs. If you?re a fan of that over knee style, then make sure to stock up on the Pamela Mann Over Knee Socks. Available in four fabulous shades for even more fun, these create a bold leg silhouette, delivering a snug fit and cosy feel.? For a party appropriate alternative, then the Lurex Highball Overknee Socks from Pamela Mann are just the ticket, working to inject a little shimmer into that jersey dress or skater skirt.

So whether you?ve a penchant for lace or refuse to surrender your long socks, take solace in the fact that we have another twelve months to perfect that festival and field friendly look…!
