Top 3 Lady Gaga Hosiery Looks

Lady Gaga Patterned TightsWhether she’s wearing a meat dress or styling her hair as a button (yes really), Lady Gaga is certainly renowned for her eclectic taste. But did you know that she’s an avid hosiery wearer, constantly snapped in a selection of terrific tights? We’ve included here a list of her top 3 hosiery looks. Now whether you choose to match them with a dress made of bubbles à la Gaga is up to you!

1. Fishnets

Seen recently on the David Letterman with a leather jacket, black knickers, a black diamanté bra and brown fishnet tights, Lady Gaga emulated Madonna by wearing her underwear over her fishnet tights. Another time, inspired by that glamorous 20’s style, the Do What U Want singer teamed a girly lace blouse decorated with pearls, cream frilly pearl-adorned shorts along with nude fishnet tights. Lady Gaga was also snapped in a pair of black fishnets teamed with a spiky leather jacket and, well, black knickers, proving that this diva has a serious addiction to fishnets! Both times the Alejandro hitmaker showed off the sheer brief style of fishnets, showing off the fact that no matter how high your hemlines go, fishnets will never let you down by showing off reinforced material. To emulate Lady G’s sexy style we recommend the Levante Fishnet Tights, available in black, brown and nude styles.

2. Suspenders

Wearing a matching latex hat, bodysuit, and over knee boots, with a lace fan (why not?) and suspenders (yes, just suspenders and no stockings!) for a modern take on a classic look. For this saucy look in an instant why not match the Henry Holland Super Suspender Tights with a pair of knee high boots and some black city shorts (perhaps cotton is tad more practical than latex)! These 40/20 denier suspender tights have actually been spotted on Jessie J and Frankie from the Saturdays, too.

3. Patterned Tights

With marine blue hair, leopard-print platforms, a black lacy bra and a black and indigo blue jacket, Lady Gaga was on top form again when she was photographed in a pair of detailed fashion tights. For fun patterned tights that will make an impact like the Poker Face starlet’s pair choose the Pamela Mann Comic Strip Tights. Made in 60 denier, these fashion tights are brimming with fun imagery in bright colours, funky enough to impress Mother Monster herself and at a price that won’t break the bank – what’s not to love?

pamela-mann-bunny-ear-suspender-tights

It might be a brand new year, but some things never change – and it’s that time of the month again, when we carefully select our top three products for those of you who maybe aren’t quite sure what you’re after, or are looking for a little inspiration….

1)      Pamela Mann Bunny Ear Overknee Tights

Why? You only have to look at these adorable rabbit detail suspender tights to know why they’ve made the top three this month.  If you’re still not sure, we can’t help you.

Style With: A thigh skimming playsuit to make the most of the striking detail – make it work for day by adding wedge booties and a slouchy cardie.

Wear To: Parties – they’re a great conversation starter – plus what better way to make sure all eyes are on you as soon as you enter the room?

How Much? £9.99/$16.50/€12,00

wolford-merino-tights2)      Wolford Merino Tights

Why?  If you’ve treated yourself to the bunny ears option, chances are you’ll have pennies to spare.  Investing in the basics has always been our mantra, and it doesn’t get more classic than these luxury wool tights.  Made with an impressive 50% virgin merino wool, forget stocks and shares – these are the smartest investment you’ll make this winter.

Style With:  A versatile matte finish and classic Wolford design mean these will go with pretty much anything – why not try corduroy shorts, ankle boots and a wax jacket for that chic farmer feel?

Wear To: Anywhere you’re likely to get cold – whether it’s a walk in the park or a frosty commute, these simply won’t allow the cold to venture too close.

How Much? £32.99 (available UK only)

moulin-rouge-high-heels-dotty-tights3)      Moulin Rouge High Heels Dotty Tights

Why?  We’ve always loved these back seam, polka dot sheers, but since we spotted Beyoncé rocking a replica at the Grammys while performing with hubbie Jay-Z, we’re OBSESSED with them.  The perfect blend of ladylike chic and fashion forward pizazz, AND an A List seal of approval – what’s not to like love?

Style With: A few more clothes than Beyoncé wore – try a skater dress with sheer or lace panels to keep an edge of sexiness, and skyscraper stilettos to continue the line of the seam and make your legs appear endless.

Wear To:  The office, if your dress code isn’t too strict – these will look great with a pencil skirt, too!

How Much? £12.00/$19.50/€14,50

Great Scot! Little Mix’s Jessie Nelson in Tartan Triumph

jesy-littlemix-fishnets-resizedThey’ve made a name for themselves as the X-factor-turned-superstar girlband that are taking the world by storm with their catchy songs, girl power attitude and bold fashion choices.  And the latter was certainly in evidence yesterday morning as the girls showed up at the Radio One studios for a catch up with breakfast show DJ Nick Grimshaw, with a super-svelte Jesy Nelson arriving in an on trend tartan-led look.

home remedies for genital warts

Wearing a black minidress with mesh panelling and matching a bold red lip to the red check shirt she had tied casually around her waist, the Little Mix starlet finished the look with a quartet of punky accessories: leather jacket, cut out booties, studded bag and fishnet tights.

Wearing a minidress and red check shirt with lashings of leather shouldn’t work, but somehow on her it does!  Tartan is the print of the moment, and Jesy makes the most of the look, giving us major wardrobe envy.  The addition of fishnets to the ensemble is hardly surprising – the Little Mix girls are huge fans of statement tights (they’ve all been snapped in various styles of suspender tights), and with Jesy reportedly losing 2 stone in weight it’s no wonder she wants to show off her pins.

We bet she was glad when she’d decided to get her legs out when she spotted Perrie and Leigh-Anne wearing identikit combos of high waisted boyfriend jeans, white tees, man coats, oversized bags and heels!

Want a bit of Jesy’s tartan triumph?  Get the look:

Classic fishnets like the Pamela Mann Fishnet Tights will work with loads of other looks, too – and these come in a rainbow of colours so you can match them to everything in your wardrobe!

Get a look just like Jesy’s with the Trasparenze Rita Tights, which have a slightly larger net for a look just like Jesy’s.  A little too chilly for so much flesh on show?  Layer a secret pair of sheer tights underneaths for incognito coverage and hush hush heat.

Have you got a penchant for plaid or a fancy for fishnets?  Shop our tartan tights and fishnet hosiery for the Little Mix look!

It’s official – Pretty Polly are cool!

They made the suspender tights a reality and Brit cool designer Henry Holland is best chums with them, so it’s hardly a surprise to learn that Pretty Polly have made an appearance on the CoolBrands list for 2013/2014. Notoriously hard to get onto, the list from CoolBrands reads as a ‘who’s who’ of the consumer world, ranging from edgy start ups to established fashion brands. Flying the flag for British hosiery, Pretty Polly has been praised for their ‘playful and accessible’ brand values – and we couldn’t agree more.

From the flirty packaging to the charming designs, Pretty Polly tights are forever leading trends instead of following, making sure you have the best dressed legs out there. Whether you’re a fan of their classic Nylons range (and chances are that the older generations in your family love them just as much) or you’re a big fan of their fashion range, there’s a pair of Pretty Polly tights for every hosiery drawer. What’s more, with constant collaborations with the latest designers and creative talent like the brand new Joanne Hynes or Patternity collections, eye catching hosiery is always guaranteed.Pretty Polly

But gushing aside, we’ve rounded up our favourite products that the superbrand has to offer right now. Disclaimer: you may want everything on there…

1)      Pretty Polly & Joanne Hynes Heart tromp L’oeil Tights – Impossibly sweet with equal servings of flirty, the opaques come complete with romantic heart motifs and a quirky cut out design. A must if your workwear needs cheering up, the chic tights are perfect for the party season too. Just one of the three styles that Pretty Polly and designer Joanne Hynes have created this season!

2)      Pretty Polly & Patternity Bricking It Tights – The result of another collaboration, it seems that the fashion world can’t get enough of this particular pair, with everyone clambering to try out the latest ‘it’ pair of tights. From pattern enthusiasts Patternity (the clue is in the name!) and Pretty Polly, both opaque and sheer panels make up the striking brick design. Easier to style than some may think, make sure to keep accessories minimal and your colour palette simple.

3)      Pretty Polly Nylons Back Seams – A classic but chic choice, the 10 denier gloss tights feature a retro inspired back seam that works to elongate your pins. Created with the modern fit of today but with the glamour of yesteryear, these are great for making a statement day & night.

4)      Pretty Polly Shape It Up Suspender Shaper Tights – The fabulous suspender tights – but not as you know them! Created to help tame any unwanted lumps or bumps, the 80 denier tights have a control brief that delivers a medium shaping strength. With those around you none the wiser, you’re left to flaunt that fabulous mock suspender style.

5)      Pretty Polly 50D Lustre Opaque Tights – Oh so silky and fabulous, the 50D Lustre Opaque Tights from Pretty Polly are perfect for everyday wear. Made from the finest yarns and with a 50 denier appearance, these arrive as the brand give their opaques range a fab makeover, making sure that no matter the budget or event, you’ll find your dream pair.

Henry Holland and those tights…

henryholland-tattooIf there was one show we had our eye on this London Fashion Week, it was Henry Holland’s. Master of cool and friends of hosiery experts Pretty Polly, the 30 year old is notorious for his adventurous hosiery patterns and prints. After all, he did invent the suspender tights! So fans of the quirky fashion house needn’t fear, as the Brit designer provided yet another iconic style this time round.

Amongst the pretty pastels and lady like cuts, we spotted one model showcasing fabulous tattoo tights, a nod to the trend that has been floating around for the last two seasons. Commitment free and edgy, think dainty & decorative rather than ‘I heart Mom’. Adding an elegant and chic twist to the trend, Holland has made body art the must have accessory for SS14.

But as ever, we say why wait until next season? Forever wanting you to get ahead of the game, we’ve rounded up our top picks when it comes to inked up hosiery.

If this is your first foray into the world of tattoos, then perhaps a ‘less is more’ approach is better. Sweet and subtle, we adore the Jonathan Aston Tattoo Print Tights. Sheer and perfect for wearing with that LBD, the tights feature an intricate oriental inspired print on the front of your legs, with a beautiful butterfly to be found in the centre. Available in three different shades, you can opt for a vivid purple, chic black or for a more realistic touch, the nude tone to fake that freshly inked look.

For those searching for a more kitsch style, then the Tattoo Hearts Tights from Pamela Mann are the fastest way to collect cool points. With all the traditional designs present, these tights are guaranteed to clock up some serious second glances. From mermaids and butterflies to Japanese Koi and anchors, the 20 denier tights will add a quirky finishing touch to even the simplest of outfits. When it comes to styling, remember to keep the rest of your outfit as low key as possible, using block colours and clean cuts to balance out the playful print.

So with our faux tattoos taken care of, we just need the rest of that Henry Holland collection in our wardrobes!

Carly Rae Jepsen in House of Holland

henry-holland-spot-mock-holdups
Shop NowYet another famous face seems to have fallen for the much feted Henry Holland tights collection…

We spotted Canadian cutie Carly Rae Jepsen performing this week in Paris, sporting none other than a pair of the super cool House of Holland Reverse Polka Dot Mock Hold Ups Tights.  Lending an edgy feel to her look, the Call Me Maybe singer teamed hers with denim shorts and a grungy jacket – a far cry from the usual super

what is a good credit score

sweet, girly styles we are used to seeing her in.

These spotty suspender tights are a great way to get the look of over the knee socks without the hassle of pulling them up every 6 steps – plus they’ll give your legs a little extra coverage while the temperatures remain low (we’re pretty sure summer is NEVER going to arrive).  In fact, Brit designer Henry Holland has definitely taken the British weather into consideration with his most recent collection, opting to reverse his bestselling designs into a sheer pattern on opaque hosiery – and for that, Mr. Holland, our legs are sincerely grateful.

Get an edgy, casual look like Carly or else dress them up for evening with a simple, timeless combination of LBD, suede wedges, leather jacket and a slick of postbox red lippie.  And if you like these, be sure to check out the rest of the Henry Holland collection, including the classic suspender tights (as worn by Paris Hilton, Jessie J, Caggie Dunlop, Rihanna and countless others).

Yeah, we’ll call you maybe, Carly.  For fashion advice and styling tips…

Paris, Do You EVER Wear Anything Else?

Another day, another photo of US It girl Paris Hilton flashing her suspender tightsWe’ve lost count of how many times we’ve spotted the notorious party girl flaunting her mock stocking tops- she stepped out for dinner at the weekend with boyfriend River Viperi wearing a pair of the Pretty Polly Suspender Tights teamed with an animal print green silk minidress and lace up shoe boots.  Now, we’re all for suspender tights – we love the iconic design worn by celebs such as Rihanna and Made In Chelsea’s Caggie Dunlop – but we do think maybe Paris could try something a little cheap viagra online different next time.  It was only a few weeks ago that we last spotted her in the style out celebrating her birthday in mid-February.

Over knee socks give a similar look and were spotted all over the catwalks at London Fashion Week, so you can them them with the confidence that you’re right on trend. Ribbed and cable styles, like the Trasparenze Dora Wool Rib Over Knee Socks, were paraded on the catwalks, and at the Mark Fast show we spotted colour pop net over the knee designs.  Of course if you’re just looking for classic over the knee socks we highly recommend the Jonathan Aston Over The Knee Socks, which come in black or grey and have a soft, matte finish.

When Grunge Meets Glam!

The preening and prepping of London Fashion Week has come and gone, so it’s time for fashion to take a break from all things proper and show off its rebellious side!

Whilst pencil skirts and kitten heels are having their moment in the trend spotlight right now, we haven’t abandoned our punk roots. From leather to worn in denim, we can’t help but indulge in a slightly messier ensemble once in a while, and everything gets a dose of attitude – from our makeup right down to our hosiery.

We’re in love with

viagra for sale

this grungy-glam tribute, featured in today’s The Sun. Demonstrating that punk and pretty can go hand in hand, they’ve teamed punchy neon shades with faded denim, with plenty of spikey accessories to boot. Naturally, no punk inspired outfit can be complete without a signature cross pattern, so our Pamela Mann Opaque Cross Tights take centre stage. Great for adding a pinch of attitude, you can choose to show your patterned tights off in a flirty hemline. For the more demure amongst us, wear underneath a simple black shirt dress, stepping into heeled ankle boots for a subtle punk style that’s office-friendly too! Remember to add at least one bright accessory though, keeping your ensemble stylish rather than somber.

If you fancy taking your newly found grunge persona out in the evening, go for the sheerer Pamela Mann Sheer Crosses Tights. Sexy and subtle, team these with killer heels and a leather skater skirt, adding a bold lip for a colour pop. For those who still adore suspender tights, the Pamela Mann Cross Suspender Tights are just the ticket, with an opaque mock suspender that works to provide coverage from the chill, whilst the sheerer top part reveals a glimpse of skin.

And for when the sun comes out? Okay, so we’re not counting on this anytime soon, but when it does decide to turn up, we’ve got our sunshine-friendly punk style down to a tee. Add fishnet socks to a circle skirt to toughen it up, or team our Trasparenze Monique Ankle Socks with a chunky flatform. With every colour of the rainbow available, there’s no excuse to not collect them all! For those DIY fans, why not try adding studs to the top of your ankle socks, for a look that Vivienne Westwood, queen of punk couture would be proud of?

So neglect those kitten heels for a moment ladies, and make way for leather, denim and attitude!

Stockings: Through The Years

Rihanna rocks hers with just a t-shirt. Beyonce shows hers off on stage. Paris Hilton adores wearing mock versions of them. It seems no other style has come further in the hosiery world than stockings. Once used as a method to protect your modesty during the 19th century, stockings are now the finishing touch to any ensemble.

Craving a vintage backseam? A fan of fishnet stockings? Throughout the years, designers have played with new patterns and fabrics to bring you the latest trend to hit the catwalks and dominate the high streets. But where did it all begin?

Well, as it so happens, both men and women took a fancy to stockings before the introduction of trousers in the 18th century. After that, the demand was driven by females alone, as the Victorian era dictated that to flash a bit of ankle bordered on obscene! With the emphasis on functionality rather than fashion, stockings were to be hidden away under dresses and skirts, tucked into corners of the wardrobe.

It was only after World War 1 that stockings became a little less about modesty and little more about style, as designers began to play with new shades and tones. By the 1920’s, the nations obsession with ankles had deteriorated and with this stockings developed a new found role – to decorate legs! With women encouraged to show off their pins, hosiery brands were forced to find newer and more exciting products to feed the ever expanding hunger – and this is exactly how nylon stockings came to fruition.

Invented in the UK but created across the pond in the USA, the stockings were given their name from the two locations – NY and LONdon (don’t say we never

cheap generic viagra

teach you anything!). After going on sale in 1940, the nation managed to get their hands on over 64 million pairs within the year. And that’s a lot of nylon! With the arrival of the ultra stretchy Lycra in 1959, stockings took on a new lease of life, providing stretch and durability like never before. Our favourite Pretty Polly Nylons Tights were a direct result of this, and they continue to combine classic glamour with a gorgeous fit. Available in 9 different shades, there’s an option for every outfit and occasion, with a back seam version too for all those vintage enthusiasts.

Of course, the obsession with mini-skirts and risqué hemlines soon impacted the demand for stockings in the 60s, as tights began to take over in the hosiery race. Thankfully, it appears that this hasn’t dampened our desire for stockings at all, as the nation still relies on the style to deliver allure and comfort time after time. And for those who crave a little more

viagra

coverage? Try out the fab mock suspender tights, for a faux stocking design that delivers the warmth of sheers. Hooray!

So whether you’re after a more demure style or full on flirty fun, shop our stocking collection now to find the perfect pair!
