Patterned Tights Styles We’re Loving

Patterned tights have been making a comeback recently, at Coachella, on the red carpet, and even in the yoga studio, and we’ve narrowed down our top five styles you can incorporate into your daily wardrobe.

1. Baroque

Baroque tights add a girly touch to your plain sheer black tights.  The velvet design on ones like the Jonathan Aston Carmen Tights and the opulent design on the Pamela Mann Baroque Tulle Tights add dimension and body to your outfit.  Pair them with a simple black dress or go bold and wear it with a dark turquoise skirt with black booties.  Keep the rest of the outfit and accessories simple to keep the focus on your legs (oh la la!).

2. Printed Suspender Tightspamela-mann-paris-suspender-tights

Suspender tights are harder to pull off but with the right outfit, you can achieve a subtly sexy look.  We love the Pamela Mann Big Heart Sheer Suspender Tights’ flirty heart design at the top.  These add enough of a pattern to your outfit without overwhelming it.  The sheerness will keep you from looking like a primary-school girl while the opaqueness will prevent you from looking too raunchy.  These can be paired with high-waisted shorts and a simple blouse to keep the focus on the pattern.

3. Skyline

Whether you’re traveling the globe or commuting to work, skyline printed tights add just enough va va voom to your outfit to change up your daily look while maintaining professionalism.  We love Pamela Mann’s New York Skyline Tights and Paris Skyline Tights.  The sheer thigh section is perfect to have peek out from under a dark purple skirt and add an edgy look to your everyday wardrobe.

4. Tattoo

Ever wondered what you would look like with leg tattoos? Well now you can see for yourself with tattoo tights.  Those like the Jonathan Aston Gaya Tights  have a full sheer leg with a black tiger design near the ankle and are perfect for a night out.  For a more all-over tattooed look, try our Pamela Mann Floral Tattoo Tights.  These will make your legs look fierce and delicate at the same time with their intricate dragon and flower designs.

5. Animal Print

Take a walk on the wild side with animal printed leggings.  We love the Trasparenze Spirit Leggings.  These are thick enough to be worn as bottoms with a high-low, simple, black loose t-shirt and comfortable enough to wear on a shopping day or whilst running errands.

Whether you’re drawn to flirty floral patterns or wild animal prints, we hope we’ve helped you spice up your legwear.  Comment below with the style you’re dying to try!

Festival Fashion 2014

pamela-mann-floral-tattoo-tightsWith festival season fast approaching it’s time to start thinking about the newest festival trends (who are we kidding; it’s been on our mind for ages). Whatever the weather, tights or knee high socks are a festival essential!

Maybe you fancy teaming some cute shorts with wellies and a pair of simple Charnos Black Tights which are also ladder resistant  *sigh of relief*. Or perhaps you’re more of a skirt and patterned tights kind of girl? These Charnos Stripe Mesh Tights could be the ones for you . Festivals may not be the most glamorous occasions, but that isn’t an excuse to give up looking fabulous and these Pamela Mann Floral Tattoo Tights are the perfect way to bring back a touch of luxury at even the muddiest, grubbiest festivals!

We are all well aware that British weather is incredibly temperamental; we sit and pray for sunshine throughout the festival period often to have our hopes dashed as we stand drenched in a field, up to our knees in mud. With optimism in our hearts it will be too hot for tights and knee high socks are the perfect alternative! A new, super cute option of Hello Kitty Welly Socks are perfect for avoiding those oh so painful welly blisters that we have pretty much all experienced at some point.

Maybe we will be unlucky with the weather and have our sunny aspirations crushed by a big fat rain cloud, in this case every girl will need a pair of Pamela Mann Leather Look Leggings teamed with a crop top (and a rain jacket most likely!) This look has made a huge comeback with celebrities like Cara Delevingne and Taylor Momsen showing ladies all over the globe how to wear it. Everyone can rock it. Other legging options that are also festival perfection are these Transparenze City Leggings which would look great with a baggy T-shirt for that ‘chilled chic’ look everyone aspires to gain at a festival.

Finally, for those who are going to brave the weather and wear something more leg-baring than wellies a glittery pair of Jonathan Aston Lurex Ankle Socks could be just what you need to put a spring in your step.

We will keep our fingers and toes crossed for good weather…

Henry Holland and those tights?

henryholland-tattooIf there was one show we had our eye on this London Fashion Week, it was Henry Holland’s. Master of cool and friends of hosiery experts Pretty Polly, the 30 year old is notorious for his adventurous hosiery patterns and prints. After all, he did invent the suspender tights! So fans of the quirky fashion house needn’t fear, as the Brit designer provided yet another iconic style this time round.

Amongst the pretty pastels and lady like cuts, we spotted one model showcasing fabulous tattoo tights, a nod to the trend that has been floating around for the last two seasons. Commitment free and edgy, think dainty & decorative rather than ‘I heart Mom’. Adding an elegant and chic twist to the trend, Holland has made body art the must have accessory for SS14.

But as ever, we say why wait until next season? Forever wanting you to get ahead of the game, we’ve rounded up our top picks when it comes to inked up hosiery.

If this is your first foray into the world of tattoos, then perhaps a ‘less is more’ approach is better. Sweet and subtle, we adore the Jonathan Aston Tattoo Print Tights. Sheer and perfect for wearing with that LBD, the tights feature an intricate oriental inspired print on the front of your legs, with a beautiful butterfly to be found in the centre. Available in three different shades, you can opt for a vivid purple, chic black or for a more realistic touch, the nude tone to fake that freshly inked look.

For those searching for a more kitsch style, then the Tattoo Hearts Tights from Pamela Mann are the fastest way to collect cool points. With all the traditional designs present, these tights are guaranteed to clock up some serious second glances. From mermaids and butterflies to Japanese Koi and anchors, the 20 denier tights will add a quirky finishing touch to even the simplest of outfits. When it comes to styling, remember to keep the rest of your outfit as low key as possible, using block colours and clean cuts to balance out the playful print.

So with our faux tattoos taken care of, we just need the rest of that Henry Holland collection in our wardrobes!

MyTights.com goes to NYC Fashion Week!

Our founder Laura jetted out to NYC last week for New York fashion week and was invited to the utterly incredible Emilio Cavallini AW 12 show.  Inspired by the 1950s model Bettie Page, the first real pin up girl and femme fatal, the show opened with a short film called “Risqué Business at the Florence Excelsior Hotel” which was followed by an absolutely stunning collection.

Called “peculiar and provocative” by the Fashion Herald Blog, the show was almost avant-garde in its presentation.  Fashion blog Hogger & Co. called it “a sensual display of sexy leg and body wear”, while the Fashion Herald Blog got past the peculiarity and loved the stockings that, they say, “really help define your outfit”.

Established 40 years ago, Emilio Cavallini is known as a brand that is synonymous with innovation and cutting edge design.  Cavallini himself says he was “intrigued by the idea of pulling hosiery out of anonymity, of transforming it into a ‘garment’ unto itself…. Let’s face it, the leg makes up more than 30 percent of a head-to-toe look.”

The AW 12 collection gave us a good idea of what to expect when it comes round to autumn again… and the great news is you can start keeping an eye out now because some of the trends will already be around.  Here are three of our favourite looks that we can’t wait to try!

Soft Fetish

For those of you that couldn’t get to grips with the fetish trend the first time around, here’s your chance to try it again.  In the autumn fetish styles will return with a softer, almost ladylike look.  Lace hosiery and flor

al designs will be blended with intricate fishnet and shredded hosiery – you can keep it tough with leather or team with silks and chiffons to create sexy, elegant looks.

Tattoo

Jessie J has already been spotted in them and styles of tattoo tights are already available, but they’ll be around in a big way come the autumn.  Emilio Cavallini has adapted the trend to make it softer, with lace, net and swirling designs all featuring in classic black – who would have thought that tattoo tights would eve become office appropriate?

Textured Patterns

Chevron tights & argyle designs will be back in the autumn, mixing with heavy-duty optical illusion graphics.  We recommend teaming these with your shift dresses from this season for an ultra-chic work look.

With so many exciting designs, we almost can’t wait for it to be autumn again!  What’s your favourite look?  Do you love the new collection or are you dreading having to wear leather again?  We want to know what you think, so head to our Facebook page or tweet us and let us know!
