Who wore it best: Madonna vs. Ashley Greene

Gym-honed and wrinkle free she may be, but Madonna has received criticism for flouncing around on stage in teeny tiny hotpants and fishnet tights. The singer, 53, has embarked on her MDNA tour wearing outfits that are reminiscent of her heyday in the 80s – though some have (somewhat unkindly) pointed out that as she was (at most) only 32 then, perhaps she should be considering a more age appropriate outfit.

Across town, youth had it say in the shape of Ashley Greene who was snapped on the set of her new show, Americana, in New York. Teaming a pretty patterned yellow dress with a hoody, slouchy boots and black fishnet tights, she showed how to rock fishnets in laid back daytime style.

Fishnets are having a moment right now and, as Ashley and Madonna prove, there

are no rules when it comes to how you wear them. Try coloured fishnets for a fresh, summery vibe – they look great with white cotton dresses when the sun is shining. Or try nude fishnets, which have a legion of celebrity fans including Rihanna and the Saturdays, who wore fishnet tights supplied by Mytights.com on their amazing tour.

Classic black fishnet stockings will never go out of style – if you’re worried that wearing them with hotpants and armwarmers (à la Madonna) might not look quite so good when you’re shopping in the supermarket as they do when you performing on stage in front of thousands of people, try wearing them with longer line knee length skirts and boots so you just get a glimpse of net as you walk.

What do you think of Madonna’s look? Should she be leaving it to the younger generation like Ashley, or is she simply showing off her hard worked for figure?

The Saturdays Wear MyTights Tights on Tour!

The Saturdays are one of our favourite girlbands ever, so imagine our excitement when they decided to wear the super cool Pamela Mann fishnet tights supplied by MyTights.com on their sellout tour!  Fishnets have come a long way over the last few years – relegated to the back of our wardrobes for being too trashy and/or the sole preserve of high kicking jazz dancers, they’ve emerged again in recent months, with Kate Moss appearing at the British fashion awards in a fishnet dress in November and Cara Delevigne sporting fishnet tights on the Oscar de la Renta Autumn/Winter catwalk last month.

Nude fishnets are the way forward for working this look for the spring.  They’ll look perfect with your pastels, and other celebs are getting in on the trend, too – we spied Zooey Deschanel two days ago at a New Girl press event wearing nude fishnets with her sweet summer dress.  Fishnets are ideal for the warmer weather as they give your legs a bit of coverage but allow you to keep cool, too.

The Saturdays prove that nude fishnets are the perfect with other upcoming trends, too.  Rochelle paired hers with neon pink for a sports luxe look, while Una worked the season’s hottest (and most challenging) colour combo – orange and purple.  Meanwhile, Vanessa and Mollie teamed theirs with sparkling silver sequins in a subtle nod to the aquatic trend as seen on the Chanel SS12 catwalk.

And the best news of all?  You can get these exact Pamela Mann fishnets for a teeny tiny £5!  If nude is a bit too subtle for your liking, they come in a huge range of colours including some summery pastel shades that will perk up your plain sundresses.  Or for someth

ing more outlandish, from seamed styles to cute mesh anklets, take a look at the entire range of fishnets.  After all, as they say, there are plenty more fish in the sea…

Reveals hottest trends for legs this Autumn

Reveal Magazine blogged the hottest trends for your legs recently and they were spot on with the revelation that legwear is having a moment!

Reveal suggests one of the trends you’ll want to be replicating from the Catwalk is Over-knee socks. Creams, browns and greys are best; avoid whites – unless you want to look like a school girl! Reveal recommended MyTights for stocking the perfect over-knee socks: Trasparenze Dora Wool socks, we also suggest Pamela Mann Ribbed socks and Jonathan Aston Long Wool Mix Boot Sock.

Next is Floral tights – this is always popular with fashion lovers. They perfectly perk up a dull winter outfit with their pretty and bright colourful patterns. Keep the rest of your outfit simple – unless you are doing the Dressing-Up Box trend, then anything goes! Take a look at the beautiful Celeste Stein Versache Tights, which also fit right in with the 70s revival fashion trend too.

Mock Suspender Tights are big news this winter and they’re best worn black like these super sexy Henry Holland Chain Suspender Tights (as seen on Pixie Lott!). Opting for suspender tights are easier to wear than stockings but still maintain the coquettish look of stockings and suspender belts without having to worry about unwanted bulges.

Animal print has been thrust upon us and we have plenty of styles in exotic leopard print. Leopard print tights are fantastic for those who want to achieve this look subtly. Try Trasparenze’s Rusalka and Wolford’s Leo Tights for deluxe versions. If you want a cheap fashion fix try Jonathan Aston’s Leopard Tulle tights or Animal Tights. Keep the rest of your look neutral to tone it down, or vamp it up with splashes of black and red.

Grey socks are no longer banished to our darkest memories of primary school now that the catwalks and celebrities like Mollie King from The Saturdays have sported them. She wore her grey socks with peep toe sandals and short a-line skirt. Wear grey socks high – team them with platform sandals, booties, heeled ankle boots, flat knee-high boots or the Man Shoe for a masculine and minimalist look. We recommend Jonathan Aston’s range.

I WANT TO LIVE IN THE HOUSE THAT HOLLAND BUILT

Henry Holland House TightsHere at MyTights, we’re all feeling a little disappointed by the lack of sunny weather that spring is supposed to bring, which is why we’ve turned our attention to something that will guarantee to put the spring back in your step! His name is Henry Holland and he is one of the best things that have happened to Fashion this year!

With a renowned reputation for being edgy and quirky with his designs, it was a shock to learn of the British designer’s recent collaboration with the laid-back classic American cool of Levis Strauss jeans. But the partnership has proved a refreshing one; the range consists of eight unique denim styles, as well as black and flesh coloured striped T-shirts. Henry’s influence on the collection is palpable, as most pieces are accented with golden buckles and contrasting black denim straps with an exclusive purple House of Holland patch to complete all designs. If this wasn’t cool enough, Indie poster girl and NY club scene alum Leigh Lezark will be the face of the latest ad campaign.

Not only is the designer liaising with the top dogs over seas, but he has also launched his new collection H! By Henry Holland at Debenhams. Gal pal and muse to the designer Pixie Geldof is the face of the new collection and she’s featured in all of the campaigns.

If you’re fashion savvy and want a piece of the action, I suggest you turn to MyTights where in only a matter of days the pioneering designs of Henry Holland’s Spring/Summer collection will be available! Tights which carry Henry’s famous prints will be bursting onto MyTights’ screens, so be sure to have your mouse at the ready before they sell out like the last collection!

And as if the new collection wasn’t enough, the sell-out Super Suspender Tights will be back too! An endless list of celebs, such as Frankie from the Saturdays, Agyness Deyn, Pixie Geldof, Alexa Chung and Miquita Oliva have all been pictured wearing Henry Holland’s super suspender tights, an item that has become as much iconic of the designer as bumsters were of the late Alexander Mcqueen!

Statement tights – anything goes this season!

Obviously, we’ve been raving about all kinds of hosiery and funky fashion tights for years, but we’ve loved 2009 as the entire world of fashion has joined in.

The celebs really got on board with statement tights after they were all over the catwalks back in the spring and now it’s winter, they are making even more of a splash on everyone’s legs than the rest of their outfits!

The Mirror’s Celebs magazine spotted a whole host of famous faces rocking patterned tights this month, with Henry Holland for Pretty Polly a popular choice for Agyness Deyn, Una from The Saturdays, Fearne Cotton and, erm, Cheryl from Hollyoaks.

However, there were so many other styles and designs that it proved really anything goes – Juliette Lewis wore red tights with glittery circles, Taylor Swift sported herringbone-patterned lovelies and Sadie Frost went for white lace to create a classy, Jackie O-style look.

There you go – proof that you should definitely experiment with patterned tights if you’ve never tried them! They’re fun, bang on-trend and they might even keep your pins warm as you head from party to party this Christmas.

Frankie from the Saturdays rocks the mock stockings look

Frankie Sandford from the Saturdays ignored the cold weather over the weekend in order to rock a very skimpy outfit for a night out (here).

The 20-year-old sported a sheer blouse with no bra underneath and leather hotpants to London’s Mayfair – but we were more interested in her hosiery.

Like plenty of celebs this autumn and winter, she was wearing mock stockings tights which looked like the ones Henry Holland designed for Pretty Polly.

These have been hugely popular and have also been spotted on the legs of Lily Allen earlier in 2009.

We just love them here at MyTights.com and think they are a great way of adding some spice to an outfit – plus they are less hassle than real suspender belts.

However, we think someone should have told Frankie that less is more – these funky fashion tights will speak for themselves and didn’t really need the see-through top and bondage gear to create headlines!
