White Dress, Black Tights

I have noticed a curious phenomenon over the last few weeks.  I suppose it was inevitable.  Little white dresses, especially in lace, are one of spring/summer’s key pieces but changeable British weather makes this trend tricky to wear until July or August so the obvious solution is a pair of nice thick tights.   White dress and black opaque tights combinations have sneeked their way on to some of our best dressed ladies of late.  It might have historically been a style no no but if Kate Moss says it’s OK I guess it’s OK!

If you are going to copy this look, I’d advise going for something matt and high quality like Kate Moss and Emily Blunt.  The Falke Pure Matt 100 Denier Tights in Black should do the trick as they give great coverage.  Pamela Mann’s 120 Denier Tights will also give you a good solid colour.  The rule with this look is, the higher the denier the better.  You want to avoid any leg showing through your tights. Kate Middleton’s sheer black tights for example make her otherwise flawless outfit look a little dated.

Lastly, definitely make sure you wear with black heels to make your legs look longer and slimmer.  Any other colour, and particularly white, will make your legs look shorter and cheapen your outfit.

Let us know what you think of this look or, if you think you can give Kate and Emily a run for their money in the style stakes, post your own photos on our Facebook pages.  We always love seeing how you style your tights!
