Aristoc is a UK brand that has been in existence since 1924. In the period after the war is was renowned for its fully fashioned stockings called Aristoc Harmony Points which are still sought after now. It's popularity continues today with it's best selling Ultra Shine range, it is also well known for its development of bodyshaping products and Slimline tights. Aristoc also constantly innovates with its fashion range, whilst retaining a core range of traditional products.

Invista (formally DuPont Lycra®)
Invista manufacturers the components of hosiery; nylon and lycra and it was Invista who invented Lycra® in 1959. Lycra® has revolutionised modern hosiery with its amazing stretch and recovery properties (it can stretch to seven times its original length without breaking and subsequently recover its shape). Lycra® was used to increase the comfort and provide freedom of movement in different fabrics including cotton, wool, silk and nylon. The company was started in 1895 by Franz Falke-Rohen in Germany and initially made socks. In 1938 Falke acquired a knitwear factory and started producing outer garments as well as stockings and yarn. The move into hosiery was in 1958 with an acquisition that resulted in Falke making fully-fashioned stockings. In 2001 Group Turnover was Euro 224 million, with 29% of production exported outside Germany. Members of the Falke family still run the company. Gio is a privately owned company based in Derbyshire specialising in the manufacture of traditional fully fashioned stockings, Gio's sister company manufacturers dance tights. Gio's fully fashioned stockings are made on the original 1950's Reading machines and in the same way as classic stockings (they are very similar to Aristoc’s Harmony Points). Jonathon Aston is a UK brand that is famous for its wild wacky patterns, vibrant colours and constant appearances in the fashion press. Sadly the founder of Jonathon Aston has recently retired and as a result the brand was sold in August 2002 to Levante (who make the most fabulous products see below).
